Mr Pink Eyes Turns Himself in to the White House Watch List

August 5, 2009

Well, I followed through on my promise in my last post to turn myself in to the White House watch-list as a dissident to the healthcare reform bill.

In case you hadn’t heard, the White House website now has a form that you can fill out to report people who oppose government run healthcare. Big Brother is watching.

Here is the text of the email that I sent to the White House’s website:

Mr President,

There is a man who goes by the alias of “Mr Pink Eyes” who writes for a blog called “America’s Watchtower.” This man strongly opposes not only your healthcare reform bill but virtually every position for which you stand. This man needs to be added to your flagged list. He is a danger to your agenda because he is trying to spread the truth about what you stand for. He finds it utterly preposterous that you could possibly have the arrogance to actually ask that fellow citizens turn in other citizens for the crime of having a differing opinion. Do not let this man get away with actually trying to debate the issues.

Thank you for your time,
Mr Pink Eyes
AKA Steven (last name redacted in this post, but was included in the email)

I’m sure they had you already. Great idea to remind these thugs just in case. How is it that today, August 4, 2009, Barry Soetoro still sits in the White House masquerading as President of the United States? How can that be? Why has no one even mentioned impeachment? This guy allegedly swore to uphold the constitution. If this isn’t a violation of the 1st amendment I don’t know what is.

Did you even go to the fucking link of the link (way to source, dipshit)? It’s a bunch of info videos with a suggestion to forward any email that “seems fishy,” after bringing up chain letters. There’s hardly a form or instructions to rat out a neighbor.

Civil liberty abuse is a crime perpetuated to un-heard of heights under the GWB Presidency. The fact that Obama continues these crimes is further proof that once the power is given to our government, the people cannot take it back. Those that feel like they are suffering now due to the legacy effect of GWB era policies… well, I have less sympathy for those many than the few that have been a vocal voice against the strangulation of our privacy – regardless who is in office.

I’m no fan of the HC Bill, but dis-informative assery will get us no where. Fucktard.

I think the far left has discovered you and your website. They are showing up more often and spewing their venom. I’m standing with you Mr. Pink Eyes! You go!

    btw, remember this:

Operation TIPS (Terrorism Information and Prevention System) was the failed Bush administration attempt in mid-2002 “to recruit millions of United States citizens as domestic informants.”

    Just be consistent.

So much for respectful, intelligent discourse. I agree with AZ that there’s plenty of blame to go around for trampling our civil liberties on both sides of the aisle, but would question why he bristles at the exposing of yet another clear example (among many) under the Obama administration. I would hope AZ could understand why what he may perceive as an innocent effort on the part of the White House to source data on “lies” about the administration’s health care reform bill could evolve into something far more sinister. Why take a chance by assuming benevolence on the part of the government? And I would ask if he would have given the Bush administration’s intentions the benefit of the doubt on something like this.

Man, it was late and I’m sorry for the roughness of speech. I had been reading about that all day and it drives me crazy. I’ve been a bit of a privacy watchdog for some time; I have so much info rushing around in my skull that I snap sometimes when trying to get it out. In the meantime I became an internet asshole and troll, so I am sorry for that.

Here’s the thing, I respect anyone who feels the fight for civil privacy and open government is a paramount concern. I feel that GWB presidency was criminal in that regard. And I feel just as strongly that Obama inherited those criminal activities and has done nothing to repeal the policies – which by policies we really just mean personal actions. There is no House action that would have to be taken to stop the abuse of Executive Privilege and openness with FOI requests. In my eyes the Obama administration is just as guilty – and perhaps more so because at very least Bush was direct – if contrite – in his reasoning. Obama has a twitter account and people think that is open government. It’s not.

What I would love to see, however, is thoughtful and intelligent Americans band together and step ahead of party lines. I feel this link to an email address buried in the whitehouse.gov blog is such a slight concern. I understand the reasoning behind the concern, but I also have to shake my head: Every Presidential Administration has the power of unchallenged NSL and PAT ACT at their disposal. An email on a blog site means nothing compared to the power of NSL and PAT ACT. The legacy effect from the GWB era for those things are staggering. That means anyone who takes office takes over the helm of those programs. Even if you trusted a Bush (or Republican) led admin, you still have to deal with each and every admin down the road for eternity. Which right now means an Obama (Democrat) led admin. Those who felt secure under Bush may feel a little threatened now.

But that’s not the point. It’s not a party problem, it’s a citizen problem. If the British Empire would have had the technology available now and the ability for NSL and PAT ACT information gathering, there would have never been a United States of America. Payne, Franklin, etc. would have been stopped as National Security threats before they ever got off the ground.

That’s why I see bitching about an email link as absurd party politics when there are much bigger stakes in play that Party Wars make everyone forget about.

Understood, that sounds reasonable to me. Regarding the substance of this blog post, however, I feel strongly that any attempt to consolidate power on the part of the government should be exposed for what it is. The PATRIOT Act and related NSA “listening” programs got their start in part because citizens see email, internet, etc as harmless means of communication rather than exposure to intrusive federal government. An email to the White House providing information about who is spreading what “rumors” or “lies” may seem innocuous but if we become comfortable with it now where does it lead? I don’t know, I’m just VERY suspicious of the government asking me to provide it information about someone’s free and open speech. And I’m VERY jealous of my liberties.

That was cool, S.! Let us know if anything happens. I personally think they are just doing this to “scare” people or make us think twice. You know razzle dazzle—- distracting attention away from the “astro-turf anger”. I do, however , think there is a sizeable difference between trying to find out if people are going to commit mass murder and asking if people are talking down the presidents ideas. There is one “mob” theory I agree with– no one likes a rat.

torture doesn’t work, even if you don’t give a shit about morality (notice the lower case, i cannot speak to the objective truth of the thing) torture does not work, people confess in order to end the torture, and it is torture, and there are videos out there to view, as Erich “Mancow” Muller (conservative radio host who was subjected to it) http://www.jackandjillpolitics.com/2009/05/conservative-radio-host-gets-waterboarded/.

anyways i agree this shit is a little shady, and i see how this could really get out of control, esp the “getting comfortable with it” but its not near what the neo-cons brought about under GWB
