Gunrunner: Hundreds of Fast and Furious weapons found

October 10, 2011

The last week or so has been a tough period for Eric Holder and the “Justice” Department–it was learned that Eric Holder most likely perjured himself in sworn testimony to the Congress, the heat has been turned up on Eric Holder and there are growing calls for his resignation, the Obama regime tried to use one of its favorite defenses to deflect blame when all else fails (blame Bush) but this backfired once it was learned that Operation Wide Receiver and Operation Fast and Furious really had nothing in common, and Darrell Issa is preparing to subpoena him to testify in front of the Congress once again–so I thought I would share a little but of good news regarding the deadly Operation Fast and Furious in the interest of being fair.

Under Operation Fast and Furious it is estimated that the federal government authorized the sale of at least 2,000 weapons to known Mexican drug lords through straw purchasers, and of those 2,000 weapons it is estimated that the government last track of about 1,400 of the weapons and have no idea where they are.

So what is the good news? The government has found some of those missing weapons. But this news comes with a caveat of course, as does almost everything the Obama regime does, and that caveat is where these weapons were found:

High-powered assault weapons illegally purchased under the ATF’s Fast and Furious program in Phoenix ended up in a home belonging to the purported top Sinaloa cartel enforcer in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, whose organization was terrorizing that city with the worst violence in the Mexican drug wars.

In all, 100 assault weapons acquired under Fast and Furious were transported 350 miles from Phoenix to El Paso, making that West Texas city a central hub for gun traffickers. Forty of the weapons made it across the border and into the arsenal of Jose Antonio Torres Marrufo, a feared cartel leader in Ciudad Juarez, according to federal court records and trace documents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

These weapons were found in the home of one of the most notorious gang leaders in Mexico and there is no telling how many crimes were committed with these weapons or how many people were murdered with these weapons. There is also no telling how many weapons made it into the hands of people equally as dangerous as is Ciudad Juarez.

And this is only a small portion of the weapons that the United States government failed to track, we know there are hundreds more:

These Fast and Furious guns were going to Sinaloans, and they are killing everyone down there,” said one knowledgeable U.S. government source, who asked for anonymity because of the ongoing investigations. “But that’s only how many we know came through Texas. Hundreds more had to get through

So while Eric Holder continues to stonewall the investigation, obstruct justice, and tamper with evidence, Mexicans continue to die at the hands of criminals who are using the weapons that the United States government supplied to them and we have no way of knowing how many deaths are the result of this failed program. It is estimated that somewhere around 200 Mexicans have died as a result of Fast and Furious, and we know that two Americans have died because of the operation, but the fact is that we can expect the body count to keep rising even as Eric Holder tries to distance himself from Fast and Furious.

I simply cannot understand how Eric Holder sleeps at night.

He sleeps because he has no shame. The ends justify the means.

Yep, he feels as if he accomplished what he wanted to so he probably sleeps like a baby.

Lately, I’ve begun to wonder if the underlying motivation has been to begin another war …. Silly? I certainly hope so!

It is possible, but if not a war I would bet that they at least wanted to spark more violence at the border in order to create a crisis to implement more gun control laws.

There had to be more though. If gun control was the sole motivation, they could have concocted something domestically. I’ve said before that I think Darrell Issa has more information that he’s letting out right now. If he thinks this is bigger than Iran-Contra, then he’s definitely got more information.

True rjjrdq, there is no legitimate reason to let the guns cross the border so there has to be something else at play here.
