The State Department is funding Islamists in Egypt
While trying to explain the reason that he decided to interfere in Libya’s civil war Barack Obama laid out the Obama Doctrine. Basically the Obama Doctrine states that when “our interests and VALUES are at stake, we have a responsibility to act.” No longer does America have a responsibility to act simply when our interests or our national security is at risk, but also when American values are at stake. This sounds quite similar to the type of nation building that Barack Obama condemned President Bush for pursuing, and the very type of foreign policy that he promised not to engage America in in the future.
Be that as it may, the fact remains that Barack Obama has decided that American values are worth defending-if not at home than abroad–and with this news that the State Department is funding Islamic parties in Egypt heading into that country’s elections one has to wonder exactly what Barack Obama thinks that American values are.
U.S. assistance to Egypt is helping political parties of all ideologies prepare for the upcoming elections — even Islamic parties that may have anti-Western agendas.
“We don’t do party support. What we do is party training…. And we do it to whoever comes,” William Taylor, the State Department’s director of its new office for Middle East Transitions, said in a briefing with reporters today. “Sometimes, Islamist parties show up, sometimes they don’t. But it has been provided on a nonpartisan basis, not to individual parties.”
In the interest of appearing to be “non-partisan” the State Department is actively helping Islamic parties gain the knowledge they need to be successful headed into that country’s elections, even if that means the potential regime in Egypt will have an anti-American agenda.
Barack Obama has hailed the “Arab Spring” as a spread of democracy in the Middle East even as it appeared as if this “spread of democracy” was about to usher in a new age of anti-west/anti-American Islamization throughout the Middle East. Democracy in the Middle East and democracy in America may be two totally different ideals, but hey, once the people are free to choose Sharia law over the rights and freedoms of a civilized nation who are we to tell these nations that they can’t vote for anti-American, misogynistic governments? This is what democracy looks like in the Middle East and this is the type of democracy that Barack Obama has supported and helped to usher in.
Clearly Barack Obama’s idea of American values are at odds with what most Americans feel are American values, yet it is the American taxpayers who are on the hook for training anti-American Islamists in the act of democratic elections so that they can gain power and continue their anti-American policies from a position of strength as the head of a nation and not simply as a secondary out of power minority which doesn’t represent a nation.
Either this is political correctness run amok or there is something more devious and nefarious to Barack Obama’s agenda. Could he possibly be this naive or is he accomplishing his goal of ending America’s reign as a super power in an attempt to make America just another place on the map neither more powerful or special than any other?
I wrote the following in this post while attempting to tie Barack Obama’s foreign policy to events which have occurred in America under his watch:
Prominent liberals called for an “Arab Spring” in America and Barack Obama seemingly obliged them by calling for Americans to get off their asses, take off their slippers, and march in a class warfare protest of Wall Street. The well funded and clearly not grassroots movement Occupy Wall Street took Barack Obama’s cue and began an anti-capitalist, communist style protest in the streets. This movement was quickly endorsed by the American Nazi Party and the Communist Party USA and seems to have one of its goals being the overthrow of the capitalist system in America.
There have been many in the Occupy Wall Street crowd parroting Adolf Hitler by bemoaning the influence of the international banking Jewry, but what has Barack Obama’s response been to the anti-Semitic ramblings of many of the protesters? Silence–and this coming from the man who tried to quell the Tea Party rallies by calling for language that healed rather than hurt.
Instead the federal government appears to be mobilizing the TSA in Tennessee as a test run for a federal highway patrol to crack down on law abiding citizens. In a program that sounds more like something to be expected in a Leninist or Stalinist Russian government than a free American government, the TSA is asking American citizens to spy on each other and turn people in if they simply do not like the way a person looks. Could this be a preparation in the case violence emerges from the Occupy Wall Street protesters? Is this part of the citizen army that Barack Obama talked about before the election? If this program is deemed successful by the Obama regime, expect this program to come to a state near you.
To sum it all up: Barack Obama has supported the spread of Sharia law in the Middle East, has been arming criminals in Mexico, Honduras, Indiana, and God only knows where else while at the same time cracking down on law abiding American citizens who wish to practice their second amendment rights and asking Americans to spy on other Americans as the TSA moves toward becoming a fully mobilized unit ready to take to the streets.
Are all of these issues to be looked at as separate, disconnected and coincidental, or are they all connected in some dark nefarious plot by Barack Obama? I do not like what I see happening all across the globe right now. Barack Obama cannot be this naive, this is all part of his plan to fundamentally change America (and apparently the world) as promised.
Again I have to ask, what is Barack Obama’s view of American values? And if his values are consistent with the values of the average American citizen why does he want to fundamentally change America?
Steve, I am on information overload here! At this point I do not know if I can even put together a reasonable explanation for what is going on. When does it stop? It seems that we barely get thru trying to explain one crisis and we have another on top of it that we have to figure out why it is happening. Perhaps that is his plan, to confuse the hell out of us until we finally just say WTH and give up??? I won’t, but I am getting pretty disgusted with the whole lot of them.

I know what you mean, there is always so much coming at us that it is hard to keep up and I think that might be part of his plan. With us watching one issue he feels he can slip another one by us, and maybe he has.

Information overload is part of the intent. When things are hitting from all sides, and coming fast, they want you to be confused and immobilized, All you have to do is lay out all the facts, and see the context, and intent.

Spreading democracy in the Arab world, is he? If he had to stick our nose where it doesn’t belong, why didn’t he promote constitutional republics for the Arab world? Maybe he has no idea what a constitutional republic is Maybe he missed that at Harvard Law School

Or maybe he doesn’t believe in a constitutional republic…..

The people of Egypt clearly have the right to choose the kind of government they want to live under. We should be staying out of their decision and not be funding their activities. Let them tend to their own rat killing, so to speak. There is much to be said for staying out of the affairs of other countries and taking care of our own business. Barack Obama seems to have forgotten that.

I am not sure why we are finding this either Larry and if it has a legitimate purpose to make sure that Egyptians understand they are free it seems counterintuitive to train a party who will take that freedom away if they are elected.

So if an Egyptian political party applies for assistance from us in learning how to compete in a democratic system, we should adapt the stance of helping only those whose goals are consistent with ours?
Sounds suspiciously like interfering with a sovereign nation’s internal affairs. To extend no assistance at all means that entrenched interests will have a great advantage, and it was those entrenched interests’ removal from the seats of power that had us cheering because they were based on repression and despotism. Now some of us are worried that those who gain power going forward might not be our friends. Not even “won’t” be our friends, but “might not” be our friends.
Life is uncertain, but it appears that some folks want guaranteed outcomes, whether aiding American companies or aiding newly freed people overseas. It’s simply unrealistic.
Take good care and may God bless us all!

By calling for Mubarek to step down weren’t we already involving ourselves in a sovereign nation’s internal affairs? And by helping to train any political parties over there aren’t we doing the same?

YES.
So, the State Dept has a “Middle East Transitions” office now. The hits just keep on coming. I noticed the linked website reported about that new office back in Sept, and most of us missed it.
thanks, once again, for bringing a little noticed piece of news to our attention, Stevie D.

As I understand it, we’re helping them learn the process, not funding their parties to pay for political advertising and campaign staff. Just paying to teach them how it’s done.
Will the training take? Dunno. But if we train secular parties in the intracacies of the democratic process and leave the Islamist parties out of it, count on them using that against the moderate parties in a part of the world where our nation is still very much distrusted.
Take good care and may God bless us all!
