The Obama regime greatly increased legal gun sales to Mexico knowing 26% would fall into the hands of the drug cartels

December 8, 2011

According to this article, in 2006–under President Bush–the State Department sold almost 2,500 non-military grade weapons to the Mexican military under the Direct Commercial Sales program and it was estimated that 26% of these weapons made it into the hands of the Mexican drug cartels, which is not really surprising for what use would the Mexican military have with non-military grade weapons in the first place? This news came to light in 2009.

So what did Barack Obama do with this news when it came to light? One would think that the responsible thing to do would be to stop the program, but that is not what he decided to do. In fact, he did the opposite and increased the sales through DCS tenfold.

The State Department] approve[d] 2,476 guns to be sold to Mexico in 2006. In 2009, that number was up nearly 10 times, to 18,709

And to make matters worse, Barack Obama’s State department stopped disclosing the numbers on this program in 2010:

The State Department has since stopped disclosing numbers of guns it approves, and wouldn’t give CBS News figures for 2010 or 2011

God only knows how many thousands of weapons have been sold by the United States government to the Mexican military in the last two years which have made their way into the hands of the drug cartels.

It has been speculated on this blog–as well as PJ Media, where the above linked story was written–that Operation Fast and Furious was a politically motivated attempt to prove the 90% lie in order to gain public support for strict gun control laws.

But once the Obama regime learned how effective the DCS was in handing weapons over to the drug cartels it became all too tempting to the Obama regime; Operation Fast and Furious wasn’t moving fast enough so the regime decided to legally increase the sale of weapons to the Mexican government knowing that 26% of these weapons would fall into the hands of the people the regime wanted them in all along–the Mexican criminals–and this was actually a legal way for the regime to accomplish this goal.

It seems too convenient for this news to be nothing more than an unbelievable coincidence in light of all we have learned regarding Operation Fast and Furious, it seem entirely likely to me that this was a two pronged attack on the second amendment and the Obama regime didn’t give a damn how many innocent people were hurt because the end justifies the means, and in this case Barack Obama’s gun control agenda justified the violence and murders which were committed by people using the weapons the United States government sold to them.

Its no stretch that weapons given the Mexican Army, (M-16’s specifically) have turned up in the hands of cartel members.I wrote two articles on that very subject in early 2010. Many of the Zeta cartel are former and in many cases presently members of the Mexican military as well as a number of members of their special operations units. The DEA and State Department have been aware but apparently have not been concerned enough to stop the flow of those weapons…..WM

And by encouraging even more sales to Mexico one has to wonder what the true intent of the Obama regime is. What side are they on?

Thanks for the link. The Democrats are using the Bush did it too defense, but this is something that I have already debunked because there were important differences between Fast and Furious and Wide Receiver that the Democrats are all too willing to overlook.

Guess he figured that he could always fall back on the “it’s Bush’s fault”, as he usually does. He, in no way is worried about a few people getting in the way, as I have said before “collateral damage”. He lets others worry about the small details, such as that. We on the other hand, have a BIG problem with innocents being murdered and that is what it is, murder. One question I have, is “why do the border patrol agents have to use bean bags as a weapon when they know they will be fired upon with live rounds?” Seems to me that they need equal fire power, who makes that decision???

And don’t forget that the feds knew the drug cartels were going to be where Brian Terry was and failed to notify Border Patrol and let them head into this ambush carrying only beanbag guns. It is criminal what the regime allowed to happen.

The other side of the coin was it gave Dems the time to spout on the dangers of Gun ownership.

The arrogance of Holder and the Dems to keep touting gun control in light of the fact they armed the criminals is astounding to me.

“Regime” is the right word. Who knows how many needless deaths these illegally sold guns will cause. This scandal has been brewing for almost two years and nobody senior has been fired?
