Barack Obama “walks back” his fear mongering campaign on the eve of sequester Part 2

March 1, 2013

For two weeks Barack Obama has been spreading an economic apocalyptic vision of hell-fire and brimstone if his idea of sequestration is allowed to come to pass. But it turns out that there will be no pale horse to behold and the seven seals will remain unbroken for the time being.

Because Barack Obama now realizes that the Republicans are not going to cave for once and the sequester will happen, and people will wake up tomorrow and realize there will be no sequestageddon, he has been forced to walk back his previous fear mongering propaganda campaign in an effort to save face.

After his breakfast with Congressional leaders this morning Barack Obama continued to walk back his apocalyptic vision of the future:

We will get through this,” Obama told reporters after meeting with congressional leaders at the White House. “This is not going to be an apocalypse I think, as some people said. It’s just dumb. It’s going to hurt. … But if Congress comes to its senses, then there’s a lot of open running room to grow our economy fairly quickly

My only question is this: Why does Barack Obama have a problem with a little pain? After all, hasn’t he been telling us for years that we all must sacrifice a little bit if we want the economy to turn around?  If you ask me it looks as if Barack Obama has gotten what we wanted all along and he is now trying to distance himself from his own policies.

I don’t trust this guy. What if he knows the first quarter number are going to be bad ( which come out in April) and then he will blame the Republicans and the sequester?

I think that is part of his plan Jim, he knows the numbers which are about to come out are going to be bad and he is going to blame sequester for it. He is always one step ahead and I don’t doubt for a second that he has this in mind.

Jim, we know the numbers will be bad, how can they NOT be? He really doesn’t want to cut anything, but if he has to, it will be to do the worse possible harm he can do. What kind of a person is this? Isn’t he supposed to be “for” the middle class? He is sure not showing it, but we know what his game is. Now that the world did not fall apart, he does have to backtrack on all the scare tactics. Of course it is still going to hurt us and those big bad Republicans are to blame. If he and Lew were the ones that came up with this “wild child” of an idea, wouldn’t you think the media would out them? Well, guess we know the answer to that, as well. They are going to ruin their careers and reputations for what??? For this man (term used lightly)? I think at this point, we just have to hunker down and take care of ourselves, we know that bad times are coming, all we can do is prepare. He will still be out there passing the blame and taking more and more revenues (taxes) from all of us. Remember when people used to laugh at how incompetent this adminisration was? Now are they still laughing? I doubt it. Even the very liberal ones are starting to feel the heat, guess I have no pity for them anymore.

All of this is part of his plan; he doesn’t care about anything other than the dems taking back the House in 2014, and if that means inflicting pain on the people so he can blame the Republicans that is what he will do. It is disgusting and he can get away with it because the Republicans are inept and the media is in his pocket.

Steve, you also left out that they will STILL vote for him, even when they know he is taking us down. To do otherwise will be admitting they were wrong about him and for some that will just not happen. We have a few good people in the Senate and House, but the RINOS are trying to force them out or shut them up, whichever they can get away with. I always thought this was a great country to live in, but in the next couple of years I might be changing my mind. Now to hear that Colorado will have the Gov. signing a bill to ban certain shotguns, well I thought shotguns were still “ok” Little by little they are taking away our guns and our rights and we are pretty much defenseless against their bills being pushed thru because we don’t have people standing up for us in Congress. I won’t say what I would like to call them, but wooses will suffice.

You are right; no matter what he does the left will still support him because they refuse to admit they were wrong about him, that is why we have to make sure that unlike 2012 the conservatives show up at the polls in 2014.
The story about the shotguns is very troubling indeed, they are basically trying to ban all weapons and usurp the second amendment. I read somewhere that Obama was pushing the states on gun control hoping that if enough states enacted bans it would garner support for gun control on a national level and I don’t doubt that for one second.

The problem isn’t the sequester, its the vote at the end of March. That is the key for US economic growth. If they don’t resolve this idiocy by then, we’ll be in trouble.

There will be no pain for the O man. I believe we can all be fairly sure that as with everything from the Arab Spring to Benghazi he will wipe off his fingerprints and pin the cause and culpability on whomever he chooses to target; and he has plenty if targets, all with an R after their name. Only one question remains: when do the RINOS and regular republicans give him the opportunity to hang them all with piano wire from meat hooks? The republicans more than deserve the cynicism with which we view them and it appears doubtful that they will do anything to change our attitude towards them. As for the final act in the Sequester theater we continue to wait for the other shoe to drop, drop right on the head of the R’s.

You are right, he will never get blamed for this and when the bad economic numbers come out next month he will blame the sequester.

This is really getting old. I just hope the GOP can mount a media blitz to inform the uninformed what this really means.

It sure is and we will be dealing with it for the foreseeable future. Somehow I don’t think the Republicans are going to win the PR battle.

Does Obama really believe the American people will forget all about the rhetoric he has been using for the past several weeks? Does he really believe he will be given yet another pass on what he says and does?

Wait, don’t answer those questions. Since he was reelected after overseeing the worst economic recovery since God knows when, maybe he is right and the American people will forgive and still adore him.

Of course they will, Larry! All he has to do is flash his smile and the media melts. He controls that media, so they will go along with whatever he says. If there was another election today, he would be voted back into office knowing all the crap this administration has pulled. Some people are slow learners and some are just plain stupid, guess we will never know which category they fall under. As for the majority of the Republican Party members in Congress, minus a few good people, they are interested in their jobs and not so much their constituents concerns at home. I am not sure where we go from here. All these new bills across the country, be it from Congress or State issued, have just gone bat sh*t crazy. One is more amazing than the next and they get some of them passed. To think that little kids can get suspended from school for making a paper gun or pointing a trigger finger in play is just off the charts. We grew up doing those things, but now kids cannot do anything without it being scrutinized for if it is politically correc or nott. Surely at that age, we can chance leaving them alone to be KIDS and not have to indoctrinate them into the system at such an early age!? want my grandbabies to have a few years of being carefree kids, but the government has other ideas for them, apparently!

I thought I caught all the typos, guess not. My replys have been inserting letters back randomly in what I have already typed and leaving letters out. It is still readable, but not my usual typing. It is getting annoying. Must have a bug somewhere.

I think you are spot on Lou, the media revels in being on Obama’s good side and they are afraid to go against him for fear of repercussions and losing their access to him. The Republicans are just as bad because all they care about is staying in power and they do not have the interests of the American people at heart.

You can’t blame him for thinking he can get away with this because he has so far. The media covers for him and too many people still think the media is in the business of reporting the news and the facts.
