Barack Obama only pays an 18% tax rate

April 14, 2013

I am sure you all remember the class warfare campaign Barack Obama waged to win his reelection bid: He painted the rich–especially Mitt Romney–as evil capitalists who do not pay their fair in taxes because they take advantage of tax loopholes which are not available to ordinary Americans.

Hell, at one point Harry Reid even made the accusation that Mitt Romney hadn’t paid his taxes in ten years when we were in the throes of the campaign. Well, it turns out that Barack Obama himself may be almost as guilty as those whom he ran against in the campaign because according to this article he only paid a tax rate of about 18.4% last year.

It turns out that Barack Obama isn’t really the middle class warrior he fancies himself to be, in fact it turns out that he is exactly the type of person he campaigned against heading into the 2012 election.

Once again Barack Obama has displayed the do as I say not as I do mentality that is so prevalent with the elitists in Washington today–they feel they are the enlightened ones and as such they are above the laws they expect we plebeians to follow.

And now that Barack Obama has been caught in the trap he tried to set the mainstream media still doesn’t see fit to call him on his hypocrisy, there is nothing Dear Leader cannot get away with.

I can’t wait to hear how he explains his way out of this one.

I caught that too and knew he would answer to that right after he explained the exponential explosion of lobbyists in Washington since he took power. It’s just another item to add to the list of his many hypocrisys.
P.S. The tax rate on my friend’s AGI of $17,408 is 20%, and yes, he did vote for Obama….twice.

He has a whole laundry list of items he should be questioned on but sadly he never will be. We can only hope that someday after he is gone we might learn the truth. Is your friend having second thoughts?

Only the so called “little people” pay taxes as I recall.

There will never be one of the “little people” in a position to be president, so this is just hyperbloviating.

I don’t recall the President demonizing Mr. Romney for paying 13% or whatever it was, he demonized a tax code that required teachers and firefighters to pay their taxes at a much higher rate than Mr. Romney – or he himself.

The fact remains, though, that if the figures hold, Mr. Romney earned something like 30 times more than President Obama, yet paid a signifncantly lower tax rate. So the problem President Obama pointed out during the campaign still remains.

The President has always acknowledged that he is among the high earners who are favored by the tax code. But it does no good to write a check to the treasury for an amount representing another 5% or 10% or whatever, because the inequity remains, and we all know the majority of those favored by the inequity aren’t about to write those checks. Far better for the President to contribute that money to campaigns aimed as electing Senators and Representatives who will change the tax code.

Complaints that the President is being hypocritical for following the tax code in filing his returns are disingenuous and deliberately aimed at deflecting people’s attention from the very real problem of the tax code – fix it properly and neither Mr. Romney nor President Obama will be paying less than a schoolteacher or a police officer.

Take good care and may God bless us all!
