Barack Obama on the Zimmerman verdict: Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago

July 19, 2013

I promised myself that I would not write about this issue again, but what Barack Obama said today was so outrageous I cannot let it go without comment, so here goes:

Earlier today Barack Obama stepped in front of the cameras and the microphones with the perfect opportunity to stem the tide of racial violence which has been escalating in the aftermath of the Zimmerman verdict and instead he decided to fan the flames.

He transformed Trayvon Martin from the son he never had into himself when he stated Traynon “could have been me 35 years ago.” Once again personalizing an issue he has no business in, but that was not the worst of what he said in my opinion because he also opined: “If a white male teen would have been involved in this scenario both the outcome and the aftermath might have been different.” He basically condemned the whole system as racist and then went on to say these issues are never going to go away. (And if he has his way they won’t.)

I do not deny the fact that there is still racism in the world and perhaps there always will be some to some extent, but what did he accomplish with his press conference other than to legitimize the riots and the violence we have seen since the verdict was handed down? With his comments today we can only expect the situation to deteriorate even further in the coming days, and that is exactly what Barack Obama wants.

Honestly, I am not surprised by this and in fact I would have only been surprised if this wasn’t the position he decided to take because it is merely a continuation of the divisive campaign he ran to win reelection. The Democrats feed off this division and in fact rely on it to remain in power.

And that was all his comments today were really about, he once again politicized the death of Trayvon Martin for the gain of the Democrats and their agenda, which is why he called for a review of stand your ground laws when in fact that law was never argued in George Zimmerman’s trial. Never let a good crisis go to waste…..

You are too kind with your description as “outrageous”, but all the others are not fit for family viewing. I sure don’t remember the President going on the air to cry about poor Nichole getting sliced up by OJ, then OJ walking free. I don’t remember the First Lady saying that Nichole could have been her 35 years ago.
But this President isn’t interested in fact or the dignity of the Presidency. Oh no, he has one goal; DIVIDE AND CONQUER! He is very good at it and the media goes along with him, as does the liberal left, who cheer him on all the way.
Where is the talk about the black shooter that murdered those black bystanders on Mothers Day? NO WHERE! No one gives a damn because it doesn’t promote the narrative.

Exactly, he has been trying to divide Americans for years now and he is finally seeing the fruits of his labor, her certainly wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass.

Race baiyers outsude of government are bad enough, but an Attorney General and a President are a qhole other matter. They are intentionally using their positions to instigate racial violence. That is unforgivable.

You said it well, Steve. Good job!

So them we are to believe that Treyvon, the pot smoking burglar, would have been given a free pass through high school, pushed through Colimbua and Harvard and bogarded his way all the way to the presidency by using his pigmentation if he had been around 35 years ago? We are to believe this under achiever with an illiterate 300 pound best friend would have been as crafty as an immigrant from Kenya? I don’t believe so. He would not fit into the Marxist melanoma crowd.

For someone who has been handed everything all the way through his life he certainly harbors disdain and contempt for this country.

Once again, we see President Obama at his finest. He is inserting himself into an issue that he should stay out of. At the same time, he is trying to use that issue to push his agenda. He and Eric Holder insist on bringing up Stand Your Ground, which isn’t even related to this case.

I am sick to death of his rhetoric.

It is sickening to watch this play out in front of our eyes, and even though this is exactly what I expected it irks the hell out of me.

If you Mr. President were Trayvon you would also be dead. Again BO you fail to address an important issue and instead you play the race card. This case is about the poor choices that many young males make. Too often young males decide on reckless behavior without considering the consequences. They will chose to drink too much, do drugs, engage in fighting and many other risky acts. Some will say this is a right of passage, but it is not. It is a reflection of the sad state that our culture is in. There are hundreds of articles on this topic.

What OB and the liberal media fail to grasp is Trayvon is just as much responsible for the outcome that night as George if not more so. First, Trayvon was in that gated community because of the poor choice he made in South Florida. He was suspended from school because he had what appeared to be stolen jewelery in his school bag. Second he was in an unfamiliar neighborhood and was loitering. He was not walking in a deliberate manner. At 17 most suburban kids drive cars and they don’t walk. So to an average person he looked suspicious. Yes, we all profile because without the ability to profile we can find ourselves in dangerous situations.

Here are some of the bad choices Treyvon made. Treyvon approached George’s car. Why? Again he made a poor choice. Is it because he wanted to appear macho? He had a mobile phone. Why didn’t he use it to call his dad or 911? Again a poor choice. He had 4 minutes to walk home. Again he failed to make the right choice. He decided to delay going home. When he saw George he made his last and fatal choice he started a fight. That is what this case is about – poor choices.

Again the black leaders have failed their community and the larger American community. They want to shift the burden of Trayvon’s poor choices into a race issue. I will not accept
    their thesis.

Well said Chris, and you are right. Because Martin is dead people want to overlook the poor choices he made and the role he had in the events that led up to his death.

Chris, I think you put it very well, it was all about choices and Trayvon Martin did not make the right ones. However, the media will never see it that way, they have to put their own spin on it and it is doing irreparable damage to our society. The sad part is they know they are doing it and still they do. They are a bunch of twisted individuals, a lot more people will be hurt because of it.

Everything coming out of the WH is a microcosm in what has become a universal theme of this administration: fraud and lies augmented by perverse propaganda, Anyone if Obama’s spoke mouths is free to misrepresent and lie about issues, events and facts because once exposed there are no consequences. The media, the opposition and the american people themselves have not and will not call them out and take them to task. Obama is the true Teflon Don and his continuous overt display of arrogance is proof enough that he knows it. Yesterday’s performance has elevated race baiting to new heights. Jackson, Sharpton and others may feel the need to reevaluate their approach to dividing the country along racial lines since their time worn rap is getting old. What we may speculate on now is what post presidential havoc Obama will wreak upon this country.

Well said Peter and I agree with Bunker, we have three more years of this and I fear because this strategy worked in 2012 it will work in 2014 again. If the Dems control the House and the Senate the fundamental transformation of America will be complete forever.

You are right about this administration “never letting a good crisis go to waste” and one came along at the most opportune moment when the Chicago machine was desperate to take the focus off the facts coming out in IRS scandal. Which of course is where the true crisis lies for our Country. I’m convinced that they were and are beside themselves with glee at this “Trayvon” opportunity and are and will keep this story alive as long as possible. Like the fool behind the curtain in Wizard of Oz the “look over here” tactics of the regime will push on. Bleeding every once of political capital out of this story….. the Republic be damned. My disgust and disappointment in the main stream press can not be overstated……. without an army fact finders and truth seekers we as a Country are entering dangerous territory.

So well said! I keep looking for what has changed in politics, because there has always been single minded opportunists in government. And what has changed is the main stream press! In the past they were willing to put the spotlight on anyone. No more. Not only is Obama off limits in general, they wouldn’t want to oppose him anyway. The press and Obama have the same goal; to “fundamentally transform America”.

Very well said and I agree with you about the MSM, they are duplicitous in keeping this story alive as a distraction from the real issues facing this country.
