College students are losing their healthcare coverage due to Obamacare

November 18, 2013

America’s Watchtower previously reported about the issue of college students in New Jersey losing their healthcare coverage due to Obamacare, and predictably this has now spread to several other colleges across the nation, and will continue to do so, so it needs to be covered again.

  According to this article:

For decades, universities and colleges have offered students bare-bones policies. But because of the Affordable Care Act, those policies no longer cut it – and universities are forced to decide whether to offer significantly higher-cost plans or cancel coverage altogether.

The new rules affect a broad swath of American schools, especially the small ones.

At Bowie State University in Maryland, the cost of student health insurance policies went from roughly $100 a year to $1,800 a year.

The cancelled plan offered $5,000 worth of medical coverage to students for just $54 per semester. University administrators said an acceptable replacement under the Affordable Care Act would have cost $900 per semester, a 1,500 percent increase.

And that is but one example in what is sure to be a growing trend. There are more examples, just check out the link I provided above. Needless to say, these students are not happy:

You’ve haven’t done anything Obama and I am disappointed in you,” one student said. Another told Campus Reform, “We don’t have that money. We can barely afford books

On a side note, didn’t Barack Obama promise to make college more affordable to more people? I thought so.

By and large a huge majority of college students are liberals and they voted for both Barack Obama and Obamacare and they are, rightfully so, feeling duped by the president’s if you like you insurance you can keep it lie. The only question is; will this be enough for them to see the light and the failure of liberal policies or when they head to the voting booth in 2014 will they still pull the lever for the same old liberal politics as ususal?

I hope the Republicans don’t do anything stupid like offer up ways to fix ObamaCare. The fix Americans need is to repeal it. If the Republicans will just sit back and keep telling people “We told you so”, Obama and the Democrats will do some serious damage to the progressive movement.

I agree Larry, Obama is struggling right now and the last thing the Republicans need to do is offer him a way out. Let him drown in his own policies. The Republicans should just sit back and watch the show unfold.

I know this is harsh, but sometimes, so is life. College students overwhelmingly supported Obama, and according to some it was the unusually large turn out of young people that gave Obama the edge in the last election. I hope young people who supported Obama suffer the most for their bad decision. Maybe, just MAYBE the young people will learn what they were never taught in school; THERE REALLY IS NO FREE LUNCH.

It may sound harsh but I agree with you; it is hard to feel sorry for the people who voted for Obama and who are now having this happen to them. We tried to warn them and they attacked us for it so now they are getting what they deserve.

These college students should luxuriate in their progressive rite of passage which is now costing them their student healthcare coverage. This is a great primer for those who, after spending $100,000 for an education and if they find a job have their wealth redistributed. Surely they will welcome the shovel ready world their idols are preparing for them … Uhm Uhm Uhm

Hopefully this will be what wakes them up but after years of indoctrination I am not sure it will.
