Harry Reid implements the nuclear option, is this the diversion America’s Watchtower warned you about?

November 21, 2013

On November 12th I wrote a post entitled, Beware the false flag which will divert our attention from the Obamacare debacle, in which I warned that I sensed the Democrats would try to divert our attention away from Obamacare with some other major story. I did not know what that story would be, but I knew it would be something big. I warned Americans not be be distracted by this story, claiming that while it would need to be covered we must not let it come at the expense of covering the Obamacare debacle.

Today Harry Reid implemented the “nuclear option” which means all of Barack Obama’s appointments will only require a 51 vote majority instead of the 60 vote super majority. I think we have found our diversion.

It is no secret that Barack Obama has been trying to pack the courts–especially the DC court of appeals–with ultra-liberal judges who believe the Constitution is a living document, but to this point he has been frustrated by the Republicans. And we should not forget about Goodwin Liu, he is a radical that Barack Obama and the Democrats have been grooming for the Supreme Court. His nomination was blocked by the Republicans and his pathway to the Supreme Court was seemingly stopped in its tracks. But that all changed today when Harry Reid neutered the opposition by trampling on what the Democrats called “minority rights” when George Bush was president and they were in the minority.

This of course flies in the face with what the Democrats, including Barack Obama and Harry Reid, were saying about the “nuclear option” when the Republicans were in control of the government.

Make no mistake about it, this is a major story which needs to be covered, but it is also represents a diversion which is designed to take the focus of conservatives off of the Obamacare debacle. While we must cover this story we cannot let that happen.

I am not sure this will provide the Democrats with the diversion they so desperately want, because after all, other than political junkies such as myself, how many rank and file Americans really care about governmental parliamentary maneuvers, and how many Americans are actually familiar with what actually transpired today? This will be a story for a day or two, probably all the way up to the Sunday talk shows, but in the end most people will not see any ill effects, at least directly, from this while the pain felt by Obamacare will be forever.

I give you credit. I couldn’t even bring myself to post it. Funny, I just mentioned it the other day as a comment that it was one thing the GOP was holding fast to. Not allowing the D.C. court to be packed. Now it will be rule of law by decree with the D.C. court upholding all the regs. The one bright note, they must figure they will lose the Senate next year. On Fox this evening, the opinion they will use the option for the next Supreme. Here come the commies to the court. A page taken from Roosevelt.

I am with you, I had no intention of writing about this because it is so damned depressing, but then I remembered my diversion post and I had to write about it. I remember your comment about the Republicans holding fast on this issue and now it was all for naught. Truly a depressing day!

Bunker, we can only hope they lose the Senate, if not we are screwed, in the long run. As you know, the Democrats cannot be held responsible for what they have said in the past, so while they disagreed with the Nuclear Option then, this is now…end of discussion, I guess. We know what they are doing and they know we know, still they do this crap. I doubt, as Steve said that most people will feel the effects, at least not for a long time. It does worry me that Ginsburg will retire now, knowing that her position will be safe and I cannot take a guess about Kennedy….he was going to hold on until after Obama was out of office. Now, I just do not know. If her position is filled with an ultra-liberal youth and they get that “swing vote” guy out of his position, we are majorly screwed…oh well, we saw it coming and tried to warn people, somehow that doesn’t make me feel much better right now. As to Obamacare aka the AFA as they now are back to, this might be enough to throw people off for awhile, but in the end, when it is still taking its’ toll on their pocketbook, they will turn back to it.

At least MSNBC actually called out the democrats on this today! That was shocking to say the least. We need to win the Senate but at least if Ginsburg does retire it will not shift the balance of the court, but it will mean a younger justice will serve in her place for years to come.

I don’t know if it is “the” diversion you wrote about, but make no mistake. This a tool liberals intend to use to their advantage.

This may not be the diversion, that may just be a convenient side effect of this, but its effects will be devastating.

With an opposition party without a voice this move by Reid was inevitable. The republicans must have known for some time that this was coming yet they were silent. Had this been the other way around the democrats would have raised hell. While hope may spring eternal we need to pray that somewhere out there an undiscovered incarnation of Ronald Reagen is waiting to emerge and save our country. Those elected on the right with access to the public pulpit are inadequate and not up to the challenge.

Yeah, the republicans are also to blame for not getting out there when this was first threatened. They remained silent and now we must all pay the price.

I honestly believe that yes, it will be a tough time until Obama is gone but this action by Reid just gave the GOP all they need to win the Senate and keep the House in 2014… All that needs to happen is for the GOP to pull its head out of its own anus and actually offer up a viable, necessary and winnable candidate…

Then the RIGHT turn this *nuclear option* around and use it to OUR advantage..

But you have to remember; we’re talking about the GOP here, they are very capable of running McCain and Romney as a ticket, together… If the GOP doesn’t get it ALL in one bucket, America is screwed..

I hope this will help the Republicans in 2014 but as you said we need to run good candidates and I don’t have faith the Republicans will do so.
