Climate scientists head to the Antarctic to prove the ice caps are melting…..get stuck in the ice

December 30, 2013

Climate-Scientists-Stuck-on-Antarctic-IceChalk this one up in the deliciously ironic category: A group of climate scientists went on a trip to the Antarctic to prove the ice caps are melting only to get trapped in the ice they say is becoming more and more non-existent. Two ships have no tried to rescue these scientists only to be thwarted by the very same ice which supposedly is melting.

Undaunted by the irony they are still trying to claim the ice is melting:

“We’re stuck in our own experiment,” the Australasian Antarctic Expedition said in a statement. We came to Antarctica to study how one of the biggest icebergs in the world has altered the system by trapping ice. We … are now ourselves trapped by ice surrounding our ship.

“Sea ice is disappearing due to climate change, but here ice is building up,” the Australasian Antarctic Expedition said in a statement.

Apparently the fact that there is ice here where there was none before is proof that the ice is melting:

Turney later told FoxNews.com the ice surrounding his ship is old, rather than recently formed, and likely from a particular 75 mile-long  iceberg that broke apart three years ago. Climate change may have prompted the iceberg to shatter and float into the previously open sea where the mostly Australian team finds itself stranded, Turney said.

I guess what this means is that global warming caused another iceberg to melt and because of this the ice gathered in this location, which is proof that global warming is a clear and present danger, and these people wonder why their argument on global warming is losing steam.

Good find! Gore will save them – to the rescue on his mighty jet! But, he’s probably busy promoting his new book ‘The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change.’ http://atrandom.com/the-future/ He’s gone global – incorporating more facets than climate. He writes: “While mapping the future is a risky undertaking, perhaps the only thing riskier is doing nothing.” I guess it is risky for those who go out into the ice. Next time they’ll stay home!

Yeah, Al Gore to the rescue! He will find a way to make more millions off of this fiasco. I have to admit, this was one of those post which was fun to write.
