Establishment Republicans team up with unions in an attempt to defeat the Tea Party in 2014

February 7, 2014

Do you still believe that there is not a civil war brewing within the Republican party between the establishment elitist Republicans and the more fiscally conservative Tea Party branch of the party? If so this story should resolve any doubt which you still might have.

As if it was not bad enough that John Boehner stripped fiscally conservative Tea Party Republicans from influential budget committees while threatening to punish more if they did not fall in line, and as if it was not bad enough that Karl Rove has set up a Super PAC  in order to protect the incumbent establishment Republicans from Tea Party challenges, we are now learning that moderate (read establishment) Republicans have now set up another new Super PAC called Defending Main Street, which is being funded by labor unions, in order to defeat the Tea Party in the 2014 election.

A Republican super PAC committed to defeating the tea party in 2014 congressional primaries is mostly funded by labor unions.

The super PAC Defending Main Street, formed by moderate Republican and former congressman Steve LaTourette, has committed itself to destroying tea party challenges to establishment GOP candidates in the 2014 midterm elections.

“Hopefully we’ll go into eight to 10 races and beat the snot out of them,” LaTourette said. His PAC has already committed itself to defending Republican Idaho Rep. Mike Simpson from tea party opponent Bryan Smith, who is backed by the conservative Club for Growth due to Simpson’s support for the Wall Street bailout. Defending Main Street also aims to defend incumbent House Republicans Aaron Schock and Adam Kinzinger and West Virginia Senate candidate Shelley Moore Capito.

There can no longer be any doubt that the establishment elitist Republicans in Washington care about one thing and one thing only and that is holding on to power at all costs. They do not give a damn about opposing views within the party and it is evident that they are trying to suppress the opposition within their own party for their own personal gain.

You would think that after foisting John McCain and Mitt Romney on us to disastrous results that they would have learned their lesson but sadly they have not because they have been blinded by their power and will do whatever they think is necessary to hold on to it.

In the end their arrogance will be their undoing and it cannot come fast enough for me. Once they are out of power perhaps they will see the error of their ways, unfortunately the American people are going to suffer in the meantime.

So much for accepting help from the other side to take the whole party down. We know what they are and they are hoping that we have not seen thru the game they are playing. I know none of us will vote these bastards back into office when their time comes, but you know there are people in the Republican party that will pull that lever for them just like we say the Democrats do. Guess they figure they have done their civic duty by voting, huh? I still think you should have to take a test to prove you know enough about who you are voting for and why before you are allowed to vote.

You are right and they will justify voting for the establishment by claiming they are voting for the lesser of two evils. But the lesser of two evils is still evil and until people realize this we will be fighting an uphill battle.

The GOP is planning to commit suicide and they don’t even know it. Hillary must be enjoying the fiasco.

They simply do not learn from the past and they deserve what they are going to get. Hillary is laughing at all of this, that is for sure.

Beware of the multitude of faux conservatives they will put up to dilute the conservative candidate. Makes Nixon look like a saint.

Bunker, I had heard the same thing about setting up the Republicans with fake conservatives. You gotta give it to the Democrats, they are sly! The Republicans think you can still play by the rules, hahahahahahaha!

Nixon wanted somebody, anybody to love him and so by signing into legislation shit like the EPA he thought the left would swap spit with him. Instead they shoved “it” right up his culo. Toda’s self absorbed bastards may finally get hoisted on their own petard since many of us will feel compelled to stay home the next time these shitheads are up for re-election. Saint Rove is pushing his luck.

When in hell are the Republicans ever going to learn that the left simply uses them? Even if the Republicans gave them everything they wanted they would still not love them and the sooner they realize this the better off they will be. Kissy face doesn’t work.

I know I should wait to post this tomorrow on the open thread, but hopefully Steve will understand. This is Alorton, Illinois, yes, I said ILLINOIS. I thought you might like to read about the corruption that comes out of Illinois, the home state of President Obama, or so they say and Governor Patrick Quinn. This is how it goes here in our state. I grew up down in the area, in East St. Louis. This makes me sick. I played in the parks in that area and the town has come to this…what a shame. Democratic controlled? Anything to do with it? Hmm?

      Hey Lou,
I can top that: Governor Chris Christie (R) here in NJ caused a traffic jam. He is getting an anal by every left wing cockaroach between Wahington DC and Bumfuckegypt. He will never win another election. The human pond scum in East St Louis must be Democrats.
.Hope you appreciate the sarcastic satire.

Appreciated, Peter! Growing up, it was a great town, went downhill in the late 60’s. Corruption is big there, as well as in Alorton. When I go down there, it is hard to see anything that looks like it did. Big landmarks are gone, kind of like when a tornado goes thru and all bearings you had are not there. The house my dad built when I was 2 is still standing, amazing as it seems. My Grandparents house is torn down and the house I was born in is still standing. All E.St.Louis amounts to now is a bunch of people standing around on the corners, doing “whatever they do” and not much more other than liquor stores, public aid office and “cash” stores. It is not like in the movies, where you go home at Christmas to the same house your grandparents had and everything stays the same. Picture perfect it will never be again. When I drive down there, I get stopped by the cops and told to stay on the main roads, yield for red lights and get out of town. I know they mean well, but I do it to still find my roots, such that they are left. The pic on my profile is the one I think at 4 yrs old in front of that house with my brothers. Little did we know that E. St. Louis had a built in expiration date back then!

Remember the TV show The Naked City which ran from 1958 through 1963? Remember the closing line, “there are eight million stories in the Naked City, this has been one of them. There are that many stories from those of us who grew grew up in any town, USA. Union City, NJ, where I grew up, with historically a population 50-55,000is now a city 0f 70,000 + not counting those in “the shadows. A haven for Dominican drug gangs who migrated from Washington Hts in the Bronx, NYC. With Senator Bob Menendez (D) at the helm he and his gang of entitlement and poverty pimps have, over the past 25 years, morphed the city into the shit hole it is today. There are eight million stories in the Naked Country….

I don’t remember the show, it ended three years before I was born, but it does seem like they would have plenty of material to use if they decided to bring the show back today.

And the Republicans are willing to go along with this because they do not care about the people, only about holding onto their precious power. They have no ideals other than remaining in power.

if they were really interested in holding onto power, you’d think they’d want to WIN.

I think they like the underdog status. it makes fundraising simple yet they never have to actually produce results. “help us defeat THOSE GUYS!” then putting up the weakest candidates they can find makes it easy to rake in the cash.

They are only interested in making sure THEY win and not the party as a whole. These Super PACs will pump money into establishment candidate ensuring they hold on to their positions by stifling those who seek to defeat them in the primaries.
