Open thread for Sunday, April 6th: Paranoid Android

April 6, 2014

Here is the open thread for Sunday, April 6th; please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

As usual you can follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is going on in the world. You can also subscribe to receive email updates and if you do you will never miss a post again.

In case you have not noticed I have replaced the old Twitter widget with a new, fully interactive Twitter widget. This widget updates my tweets in near real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. Is also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?

Please check out what the New Federalist Party has been up to by clicking on the link to the right. On the NFP Facebook page you will find a link to the party platform. Check it out and if you like what you see we are currently looking for donations and delegates to the states for the convention.

The musical selection this week is a song entitled ‘Paranoid Android’ by Radiohead. It is ironic because I was going to post this song last week but decided to wait until today. In light of the debate we had on this post earlier in the week about the despotism of public opinion and Brendan Eich resigning because of his personal beliefs the following lyrics from the song are sort of related to the debate.

When I am king, you will be first against the wall
With your opinion which is of no consequence at all

  Enjoy:

Hello Steve, hoping you do ok.
In the early 80’s end 70’s I did discover some band who did get a proper 80’s sound but that had actually roots in the early 70’s like Manfred Mann and…. King Crimson, who still make an album once a while. Well .. good trip 🙂

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/04/05/Only-28-of-Illinois-Residents-Trust-State-Government

A short read for you from Illinois. After reading this myself, I had to wonder about the 28% that are in favor of Gov. Quinn. They do have to be from Chicago area and then I had to wonder why the percentage was not higher given how numbers seem to be padded here. I read the comments and it seems that there are alot of people that think we here in Illinois WANT this to continue, what is happening to our state. It doesn’t really matter how “down state” votes, it always come out the same, we get a Democrat in place with all the proper Democrats in the high positions. We can see the corruption just like the rest of the country sees, but no matter what we do, there are always those that push thru the votes to keep this trash in office. Funny how they find all those ballot boxes in trunks or basements when they are needed to put them over the top.
We had a “temporary” tax hike of 67% that was supposed to take care of all the Education woes, etc..well, as you can guess, Gov. Quinn wants to make it permanent now. Oh, there might be a vote, but rest assured it will stay in place. Makes one wonder what exactly happened to all that cash the 67% produced…well, makes one wonder just for an instant, we all know it went into someones pocket and for “pet projects” and for welfare programs to entice out of staters to make their way here for the benefits. We now have Medicaid in place for not only mothers with children, but for childless people. What another great incentive to draw people to our wonderful state. We can’t seem to keep big companies here or make it a place a big company would want to move to, so our job making is lacking and we have higher and higher welfare costs. I know we are past the tipping point of earners verses takers. Sad to see what a Democratic government can do to a state, what do you think the odds are that the same will not do the same on a bigger scale country wide???

And yet these people still get elected! It makes you wonder what is going on. It is frightening to think that Obama is now trying to bring this type of politics to the nation at large.
I am surprised Massachusetts did not make this list considering the last three House Speakers have been indicted.

This last installment of sense from senselessness covers what Steve rightly titled the “useful idiots”. There is no way the left would have enough bodies to take control of the country without these idiots.
As an avid listener of Prager and Hewitt, I can’t tell you how many people called in identifying themselves as Republicans, but due to one thing the Republicans either did or didn’t do, they were going for Obama. They thought the party needed to be taught a lesson, regardless of the harm it would do.
Then there are the leagues of conservative government workers who, when it gets right down to it, rather keep their pension fat than throw out the politicians who are killing the American Dream. And a much touchier group to talk about are Seniors. They are generally conservative, but are scared for their own future. At 61 I sure see the conflict.
These, and similar groups are what shift the vote from one side to the other, and what they have in common is ‘I’. Back when schools taught real history and government class, and they were taught “We the people”, they knew there was something more important out there.

Anyone who voted for Obama to teach the Republicans a lesson went about it the wrong way and they are truly useful idiots! I hope they are happy, they really showed them didn’t they?!
