Latest New Hampshire poll (08/21/14) shows Scott Brown within two points of Jeanne Shaheen

August 21, 2014

Scott-Brown-for-Senate-apIt is finally starting to get interesting around here as the Summer begins to slowly wind down and the election season starts to heat up. Last week a poll was released in New Hampshire which showed that both Democratic Representatives might be in trouble.

That poll showed Carol Shea-Porter actually behind her likely Republican challenger by 4 points, while Ann Kuster only enjoyed a 3 point lead over Marilinda Garcia.

And today a new poll was released which shows that the carpetbagger, Scott Brown, is now only 2 points behind Jeanne Shaheen.

The New Hampshire Senate race is tightening, according to a just-posted WMUR poll that puts Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen up only 2 points, 46-44, over Republican Scott Brown.

That’s within the margin of error. The same poll last month had Shaheen ahead by 12 points.

That is quite a turnaround in a fairly short amount of time. Scott Brown has been acting as if he is already the Republican nominee, ignoring his primary opponents while bombarding the airwaves with anti-Shaheen ads, and as the President becomes more unpopular his attempt to tie Jeanne Shaheen to Barack Obama seems to be working.

While the unending scandals did not put a dent in Obama’s armor is it possible Obama’s apathy and arrogance and inability or refusal to perform the duties of the presidency is trickling down to and making an impression in the voting class?

it wouldn’t surprise me if the poll itself gave only a “brown vs shaheen” option. all the phone polls I have taken did this. so they are complicit in the “primary? what primary? there is only one guy here that can win!” tactic that sununu used in the last presidential election.

I will never vote for a sununu-backed candidate after what he did to Jack Kimball.

I don’t answer the poll calls but this one did show Reubens and Smith losing by double digits to Shaheen, but it did not give the primary poll results.

Please GOPers up there, hold the nose and maybe give us the Senate. I know it is going to be hard, but…… last train out.

Think Supreme Court Nominees if only for your children. He will get a couple of picks and they will be in power for decades.

That is a very compelling argument and one that I had not even thought of!

“Think Supreme Court Nominees if only for your children. He will get a couple of picks and they will be in power for decades.”

I’d like to second that. I think appointing Supreme Court justices is arguably the most important/powerful thing modern presidents do (which is saying something, because the presidency has grown to have an awful lot of power).

Right, I know we’re talking about the Senate. I guess Mrs. Ginsburg has already said she won’t retire during the remainder of the current president’s term? I haven’t been counting, does that mean we don’t have to worry about Supreme Court appointments until after 2016? Breyer would be the remaining question mark. He’s not going anywhere, is he?

It is a very good point and one I had not considered, but didn’t Brown once say he would have supported one of Obama’s nominees? I forget which one…
