Obamacare architect: Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage due to the “stupidity of the American voter”

November 10, 2014

With Obamacare headed back to the Supreme Court for a decision on the Federal exchange subsidies some of the Democrats have stated that the issue at hand is simply a typo, a mistake, sloppiness on the part of lawmakers. Surely it was not the intent of the law to exclude the Federal exchange from handing out subsidies, right?

It was not long after the original court decision which ruled the Federal subsidies were illegal that we began to hear the arguments above. But then a video surfaced which showed Obamacare architect, Jon Gruber, admitting that the law was purposely written to exclude the Federal exchanges from handing out subsidies as a way to coerce the states into setting up exchanged at the state level.

And now he has been caught again, this time talking about the lack of transparency  in the law and how it was done intentionally to hide the mandate from the CBO so it would not be calculated as a tax and how the subsidies were hidden. This was done, according to Jon Gruber, because of the stupidity of the American voter.

Without this lack of transparency or the “tortured way” this bill was written it would not have passed according to Mr. Gruber and we know the end justifies the means.

So much for the most open and honest administration in history…

Good catch with the clip. I hadn’t seen it before. It can only help the argument before the court. At this point, I enjoy anything that gives them angst.

What a big crock of sh*t! Once again, it is the stupid people that have let this happen, OPEN your eyes stupid people! I so dislike stupid people, but I have probably said that before. As long as they get a few crumbs thrown their way, they are content. So, the rest of us suffer along with them, I guess. I so dislike this president and what he has done to us. I also do NOT like it when I know someone lies to my face and that is what he does every time he comes on the tube. Now it comes out what is going on, is it too late? Will the Supremes do something about this and make it “right” again? They made a bad call the first time, they have a chance to come clean and take OUR side, AMERICAS side in this. It will not be soon enough when Obama leaves office, but til then we have to be very watchful and hold our Senators/Representatives to task. If we do not, they will waiver and start faltering and then the Democrats will come in for the kill. We have seen it before, so never doubt it can or will happen again. We at least have a fighting chance and fight we must!

I guess in one sense we have to admit he was right for if he was not Obama wouldn’t have been elected in the first place! Hopefully this decision will go the right way but I am not hopeful.

It’s a tax it’s not a tax. SCOTUS can swing either way depending on Robert’s conscience; assuming he has one. With the four unwavering ultra-liberals towing the ideological party line right wrong justice injustice is not the variable in this decision but rather whatever albatross is hanging around Robert’s neck. Shakespeare said it best: Et tu Brute?

A ‘tangled web’ of cover-up and placing the burden on the States – that don’t even want it – just to have their power/control and globalism step-up.
When shysters are in power, that’s to be expected, but not condoned or allowed. I pray the light of truth and correctness shines bright on this and that their ‘deconstructionist momentum is thwarted!’ Ruled “For the people” rather than the usurpers.
That the Judicial do what they swore to do to uphold the Constitutional Laws, and not be the mindful (loyal) slaves of the Agenda’s lure and hook.

Let’s hope they do what is right this time and interpret the law the way it is written as well as what the writers of the law have actually stated.

Now Obama is moving on the Internet! Wonder what he has in mind OTHER than total control of what we do and where we go? Of course whatever it is will have to be free for all of “his people” and we will get our bills jacked up. Isn’t that how it usually works? Add a tax here and there on the bills, no one will know! Hmmm. I just saw a pic of him getting out of a limo in China???? He has on some purple get up that makes him look like Spocks brother (if he had one), minus the pointy ears.
I think we are, once again, going to have one bill/amendment/plan thrown at us one after another til we are on overload. Will be like old times again and we thought we “might” be able to take a breather,,,,hahahahaha!

Net neutrality might start of as benign but once they have the foot in the door all bets are off!

What side is this guy on?

He seems proud of having helped to dupe the American people.

Or is it arrogance that he can brag about deliberately hiding facts and still get his way?

I’m sure he’d be very happy working for the Ministry of Truth.

Dr. J, I would side on arrogance, myself. They do this stuff openly and then dare anyone to say something. We have been letting them get away with it, so why not more of the same? This is all a game to this Administration, but they have failed to notice we are not laughing. My kids always mention “the look” I get when they know they had better stop what they are doing or saying, maybe more Americans are getting that look now. You think they will start paying attention then???

That’s right Lou, these people have been getting away with it for so long it is easy to understand why they are so arrogant. They will keep pushing the envelope but one day, hopefully, they will push it too far and it will backfire on them.

I think they are throwing everything they can at us to rile us and cause a split if they can. Net coming next.

Yep, that is Obama’s next angle. It may start off innocent enough but once the Feds have their foot in the door all bets are off.

Lou, frankly, I’m not sure they’ll pay attention to anything short of being put in front of a firing squad. They’ve gotten away with a lot and they figure they can do what they want.

Gruber is right about one thing. A lot of us really are ignorant and apathetic. I’ve been commentating, blogging, publishing a news letter and talking for years. Most of the time, I feel like I’m trying to empty the ocean with a soup spoon.

Totally understand how you feel! On the positive side, you/we at least can vent with like minded people here! Sometimes it does feel like we are surrounded by stupid people and sometimes we are right!

Even if someone doesn’t agree with me, I’m usually ok with it, as long as they have demonstrated that they actually understand what they are saying and the consequences of it.

In one debate I was having about gun control, my opponent made a three sentence statement that either contained or was based on so many half truths, outright lies and faulty logic that I needed 15 minutes just to explain them all. Dealing with the willfully ignorant is frustrating in the extreme.

Dr. J., most the time they are reciting the “talking points” they have been given or have heard. If they actually took those points apart, maybe they would come to a correct conclusion, but most people do not THINK for themselves anymore! It is much easier to just let someone else do it. That doesn’t make it right, but it does make it easy. That is what we have become, people that take the easy way out. Sad to see that happen. Not sure when people stopped questioning something, but it is what is going on now.

Yes, we have to grudgingly admit Gruber was right. How else can you explain Obama being elected twice?

Sadly, I don’t think, however widespread the video gets, that it’ll change anything. Folks have come to expect this kind of thing now. After however many scandals, they’re numb to it all. A lot of folks are going to watch this video on the news and be like, “And?” And then they’ll go to the mall.
