Wisconsin school district Veteran’s Day tribute cancelled over 21 gun salute

November 11, 2014

no-guns-729109According to this story a Veteran’s Day event which was to be held in Wisconsin’s Eau Claire school district has been cancelled over a dispute about firearms. Officials of the school district oppose the use of firearms during the course of the event.

The firearms in question? There was to be a 21 gun salute. As we all know, during a 21 gun salute the weapons fire blanks–not live ammo. But still they would not budge.

  Here is more:

For the first year, a local veterans group will not be holding a Veterans Day program at the Eau Claire area school district, the decision was because of a disagreement over firearms.

The Patriotic Council says it will not be able to teach younger generations about the sacrifices veterans have made this year because the organization isn’t able to properly do so.

“It’s really hard to tell the veterans they’re not allowed to bring those rifles in,” says Olsen. “Which, the only purpose is, to honor our flag and our country and to teach the kids.”

The Eau Claire school district says while it wishes to honor the memory and sacrifice of veterans on Veterans Day, it’s become more difficult to do so.

“We like to honor the veterans; we bring them in on a regular basis,” says Tim Libham, the Executive Director of Administration with the district. “There are just some conditions that we have to adhere to and the shooting of guns, even with blanks, is something we don’t feel is appropriate given society, and the concerns that we have and that the community has, on school premises.”

Leibham says, “We’d had family and students that were uneasy, even with blanks being fired on school premise.”

But, Olsen says when it comes to firing the 21-gun salute during the program, there shouldn’t be limitations. She says, “I was hoping maybe we could find a compromise, but when it comes to the weapons, there was no compromise.”

This of course is a harmless show of respect and thankfully a local Burger King allowed the ceremony to take place at a different location, but this shows us how far the politically correct, gun-grabbing, anti-second amendment hoplophobes will go to push their radical agenda. They have sunk to a new low.

It gets more ridiculous every day. Make the kiddies very very afraid of those nasty guns. Bonus is the disrespect shown.

Let me get this right, an honor guard and 21 gun salute is an old and revered tradition, and the people in Wisconsin are scared of this?

You can’t really make a sensible commentary on something this stupid.

Feel free to prove me wrong about sensible commentary, I’m just going to sit here and feel disgust about the degenerate citizens of Wisconsin while the rest of you sort it out.

Yeah, there really is not much that we can add to this is there? The story speaks for itself.

I went to school outside of Madison, so am well aware of the “liberalness” of what they are speaking of. My Aunt is a die hard Democrat and doesn’t want to see me unless I change parties, haha! The U of Wisc. is as liberal as they come, as is Madison. This doesn’t surprise me in the least!
Now as to the 21 gun salute, guess next they will forbid it at cemeteries? This is plain stupid, but you know how hard it is to change someones thinking!

So I assume you are not going to see your aunt anytime soon? Where will this end, that is the question. There is no doubt in my mind they will try to ban 21 gun salutes all over the place.

Probably not! I doubt at 95 she is going to change her affiliation now!

Forget salutes, they’re trying to ban anything gun related. Thank G-d they’re actually losing in most places.

The gun-grabbers lost big time in this election. The American people have rejected their agenda but that will not stop them.

PS, that symbol of the gun with the line thru it is an open invitation for anyone to walk in and start shooting up a place, don’t they see that? Only the thugs will have the guns and everyone else will be a sitting duck. I do NOT like those odds, that is why I always sit with my back to a wall in a restaurant where I have already identified where the exits are and I can see who is coming in. That is my East St, Louis upbringing that has stuck with me! They need to live in the real world and stop trying to cover any little thing that might not be just politically/socially correct. Otherwise we will raise a bunch of scared to death kids….maybe that is the plan!

But, but, but, criminals will obey the law. Won’t they? 😉

“we just have to make the sign bigger and more obvious the last school shooting was because he didn’t see it on his way in!”

so, by that logic, let’s have bombers drop “no beheading” signs in ISIS territory. that’ll teach ’em.

Allen, it could work! However, we are assuming they can all read! That might be a problem!

Reading this, I am worried that we may have won the battle last Tuesday, maybe the war is already lost.
