Vermont dumps Jonathan Gruber over his “stupidity of the American voters” comment

November 20, 2014

Consider this to be your feel-good story in a week which has been less than stellar to say the least. In the wake of Jonathan Gruber’s “the stupidity of the American voters” comment controversy, and all that has ensued since then, the state of Vermont has terminated its contract with the beleaguered Obamacare architect.

  Here is more:

Following an embarrassing string of missteps, Vermont has stopped paying controversial economist Jonathan Gruber for his work on the Affordable Care Act.

A spokesman for Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin said Wednesday that the state would no longer pay the ObamaCare architect.

“As the Governor and I have said, the comments by Mr. Gruber are offensive, inappropriate and do not reflect the thinking of this administration or how we do things in Vermont,” Lawrence Miller, said Wednesday in a statement. “As we have also said, we need solid economic modeling in order to move forward with health care reform.”

Miller continued that he told Gruber, “that I expect his team to complete the work that we need to provide the legislature and Vermonters with a public health care financing plan. I’ve informed Mr. McGruber [sic] that we will not be paying him any further for his part in completing that work.”

Gruber’s original contract with the state was worth more than $400,000. He’s already been paid $160,000.

The news about Gruber was made public at an informational session for Vermont’s legislators.

Despite the mainstream media ignoring this story, and despite the leaders of the Democratic party’s Gruber who? defense,  perhaps it will have some repercussions after all.

I suppose it feels kind of nice that he’s getting taken down, but it bothers me. On one hand, he’s one of the people who crafted the abomination known as the Affordable Care Act. On the other, with his arrogance he’s done us all a favor by confirming what we knew and providing us with ammunition to use against Obama and company.

He’s a hired gun, amoral in the application of his skills. He didn’t get hired for his ethical judgement or his patriotism.

Dr. J., I said before that we cannot fault the man for going after “easy money”, but we can hold him accountable for what the outcome was, in a certain sense. He knew what the outcome would be and still he did it, guess he knew how weak of a system we have now and did not even worry that he would be punished. After all, he is working with “the one” and he can do and say anything he pleases. IF, in that perfect world, we had a strong Senate/House we would stop this before it has a chance to take hold, but, I have a feeling, like the Amnesty crap, Obamacare has reached out its’ tentacles and is here to stay in some form. In the end, it is the hard working people that will suffer, NOT the ones on the dole that will ever take the brunt of the punch. Sad thing, we have become as a nation, that the underdog is the winner and the honest people lose.

Because the end justifies the means, that is why he thinks it was okay to fool the voters. Sickening!
