John Boehner is trying to pass a $1 trillion spending bill before conservatives can read it

December 8, 2014

john-boehner-crying John Boehner is on one hell of a roll: First, it appears as if he tricked the conservatives in the House to vote for a bill which actually gives the President the legal standing with the Congress to grant Executive amnesty and now it appears as if he is trying to pass the $1 trillion “cromnibus” spending bill before anyone can read it. In case you have not heard the term “cromnibus” before it is a combination of a Continuing Resolution and an omnibus spending bill, and he claims it is a compromise designed to appease conservatives who want to fight Barack Obama’s Executive amnesty.

Here is more on John Boehner’s attempt at pulling a Nancy Pelosi on the spending bill:

House conservatives are griping that Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is putting the squeeze on them by rushing through a $1 trillion spending bill in Congress’s last week in session.

Appropriators are expected to roll out the legislation early next week, giving critics scant time to figure out what’s inside before they cast their votes by the end of the week. The government would shut down on Dec. 12 without a new funding bill.

“Here we are doing the appropriations bill the last couple days” before a government shutdown, conservative Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kansas) said in an interview this week. “That’s not to squeeze Harry Reid. That’s to squeeze us.”

Boehner critics say there’s no reason the Speaker couldn’t have brought the spending package to the floor this past week, giving the House more time to consider it.

But doing so would also give more time for the right to build a case against it.

“They don’t want you to read it, that’s why! You think they want you to analyze all the mischievous items in there?” Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.)  told The Hill.

But Representative Walter Jones did not stop there:

Asked if the timing of the plan was aimed at jamming the Senate or House conservatives, Jones replied: “I think its aimed at screwing over the American people. You can quote me on that.”

Forgive me if I am wrong but did not the Republicans, in their Pledge to America in 2010, promise that all bills would be posted online for three days before a vote was taken? I thought so, so what happened?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the Republicans are now in power and they have the same goal as the Democrats–staying in, and expanding, their power–that is all they really care about, and to do this they have to play us against each other for their own benefit. (Hegelian Dialectic anyone?)

John Boehner is simultaneously trying to “squeeze” the conservatives while working with the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Steny Hoyer and lest you forget he has already punished conservatives in his caucus for not falling in line with his big government statist agenda.

Funny thing, I thought we were going to rein in the EPA, Obamacare and all other types of abuses? So Boehner is going to throw away half of the two years we have to try and sort this mess out? As I commented on your other post, I checked my e-mail and was alerted to contact my Rep to vote no on the Yoko whatever bill as it was a set up. So who all is involved in the set up? The Rinos and the Dems set up the uninformed conservatives? Will we ever know? Why not a CR for a couple of months told me all I needed to know. And we just gained another Senate seat this week for what? Think I will have that drink tomorrow.

It seems pretty obvious to me that these were all just talking points used by the RINOs to get power and nothing is going to change. A short term CR would have been the best way to go about this but they do not want to fight over it anymore so you are right, what did we gain by getting another Republican in the Senate last weekend?

Aren’t they also in the Senate thinking about putting the vote back to 51 instead of the 60 for filibustering? After all, we should only be “fair” now, even though the Dems were not ,,,,,what a bitch, huh?

I heard the same thing about the filibuster rule and it seems only fair to me…

Yep, smells of RINO’s in the Croonies pen. Are they any ‘friends’ or just ‘foes’ in that group.

We should expect nothing less from a republican majority in the hands of stew bum Boner. We should expect nothing less from a House sin los bolas (a little spanish thrown in there for the illegals who may read this column) to throw out Boner as speaker. Who knows, his next move may be to incite rioters in the streets and on the college campuses ala his grandmother, Nancy Pelosi.

Peter, now we have the CIA info brought out that the media will focus on to take the heat off of the hearings. I watched the hearings today with Gruber/Tavenner at the witness table. Of course you know that Elijah Cummings was SOOOOO hard on Gruber. He did smack him on the wrist for talking back about the “stupid” people that voted for Obamacare, but then he changed his tactics back his normal attack the Republicans mode. Gruber kept using the word “glib” and to talk to his attorney, he was apologetic about calling all of us stupid, in a round about way ….Issa was getting pissed about it, as were the other members. Tavenner had that smug look on her face and she just “didn’t have the answers”, but would get them. So, pretty much how all the other hearings have gone. Issa did say he would subpoena the information from the witnesses, since they just came so unprepared. I did get a laugh out of Issa asking Gruber IF he was stupid! Probably the highlight of the hearing. I also have started hearing Mr. Gruber being called Mr. Glibber now….go figure. Gowdy could have done better with his 5 minutes, but there were others that were spot on and gave them hell. For all the good it will do, it was at least interesting. Now you do not have to watch it.

That of course is precisely why the report on something that happened years ago was released today. Move cover for the MSM to use and we know they will gladly play along.

Of course that was the plan, no matter who might be hurt with this information being let out. The Dems were well aware of what was going on, so they are just as guilty as they say the Republicans are. This was Feinsteins parting shot, apparently.

She was the head of the committee, but we all know that Obama never finds anything out until he sees it in the paper like the rest of US, so maybe she is kept in the dark, too????

It might not make a bit of difference, but it cannot hurt. At least I feel like I have tried to be heard for whatever good it does. Don’t you get just a little bit pissed when you know you voted these jerks into office and they turn on you????

I would like to comment but I am afraid that I am going to come across as an arrogant jerk (whether or not I am is still a matter for debate :)) but I’ll take that as a challenge.

From my point of view, everything is going to plan from the Republicans point of view (with the obvious exception of not getting the big prize in 2012). Back when the tea party was getting into full swing, I was seeing where everything was heading. I had strong suspicions that the Republicans and special interests were just using the tea party protests as a means to get the Republicans back in power.

During the 2011-2012 session, when they tried to prorate their spending cut promise and only delivered a small percentage of those cuts, I saw that as evidence that I might be correct. During late 2012 just before the new session, when Boehner removed tea party conservatives from key positions of power, I saws that as further evidence. Maybe I am biased but it does look to me that I was correct.

I know some will disagree with me on this point. When the Republicans are in control of all three branches of government in two years, things will get worse because at the end of the day they are statists just like the Democrats. I just hope that I am proven wrong.

I do not see how this comment makes you an “arrogant jerk” and in fact I agree with almost everything you wrote. I really only disagree with your assertion that the Republicans will hold all three branches of the government for I see nobody on the horizon who is presidential material from the Republicans. The establishment Republicans used the Tea Party for their own gain and co-opted what I felt was a legitimate movement at the time. Karl Rove spent millions to ensure the establishment would win against any Tea Party candidate and for the most part he was successful this time around.

The danger of me saying sounding like “told ya so” was high. Looks like I was successful in avoiding that. 🙂

When Obamacare was passed, I saw that a Pyrrhic victory for the Democrats in that the damage from that will be enduring. My prediction was that whomever follows Obama is going to be a Republican. I still stand by that prediction. While the Republican field is not very strong, the options for the Democrats are just as poor.

Once again today, I called Senator Dick Durbin, left verbal message, Senator Mark Kirk, left all info for him and Representative Rodney Davis, all from the once great state of Illinois to STOP this massive spending bill. For what good it will do, who knows, but I feel that at least I am heard. They did ask for name address and email address, so I will probably get the usual form letter, but you never know. There is still time to make your calls! Higher up on this blog I left 2 places for you to click on and get the state you live in and your senators and the representative for your district. Please take a few minutes and voice your opinion, we are running out of time. IF it passes the House, then you need to make sure your Senators also know you are NOT happy with this and you want it stopped.

It has been reported that so many people have been making calls that the switchboard went down. The people are speaking but the question is, are they listening?
