Here is the open thread for Sunday, January 25th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
This week we discussed another 11 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!?
Now on to the musical selection of the week: As I was driving somewhere this week for some reason I was reminded of a line from an obscure song from the 1980’s which received some modest airplay on alternative radio in Boston.

That lyric was from a song entitled “Institutionalized” by the band Suicidal Tendencies and I knew that this was the song I was going to choose for the open thread. Here is Suicidal Tendencies performing the song live in 2013.

Somewhat like the “re-education camps” that we hear so much about? I imagine they (whoever they are) will have a hard time switching some of us die hards to their way of thinking, as much as they might try! Pretty sad that we have to fear our own Government, but we do! In the end, who is responsible for this happening, if not it being US? We have become complacent as a nation and we need to change that. That game on tv or that reality tv program will wait until we straighten this crap out!
I had the live feed of the Iowa Freedom Summit on the puter yesterday….glad to see that Romney and Bush were NOT there, I really do not feel like listening to them. I listened to what different ones were saying and it is all the right stuff, but will they continue with that opinion IF/WHEN they are front runners? I was thinking earlier, other than Clinton and Obama, I never remember a President that had to show us how “cool” they were or how much of a “regular sort of guy” they were. I do not WANT that in my President, I want a man or a woman that will do the JOB I put them in office to do. I do not need someone that comes out playing the sax, or someone that will give an interview to a lady with green lips, but will turn down seeing another head of state…this Administration are a big bunch of babies in my book. They are immature at best and evil at worst, it will be a wonderful day when we no longer have to listen to the Media sing them praises!

That is a great point about Obama trying to be cool Lou. He is all about his image and if something does not make him look cool he is not interested in it.

Love Siouxsie and the Banshees! If I remember correctly she also worked with Robert Smith on The Glove. There were rumors she and Robert had a fling while he was filling in on guitar for the Banshees at one time.

As I was down in the “dungeon”, as I call it, ironing, I had the tv on FOX news. All it seemed to be covering was the crap about the deflated BALLS! Now, correct me if I am wrong, but do we not have other “issues” that we should be concerning ourselves about besides BALLS? I think that there has been more coverage of this subject lately than all the coverage of Benghazi from day one. I guess when you are this Administration, you fuel the fire on this, so as to cover all the OTHER crap they are pulling. It is MY opinion that the Association that deals with football should be doing an internal investigation on this. After all, isn’t internal investigating good enough for this Administration when it comes to any crisis that the USA has? If so, it should be good enough for “Ballgate” or whatever the name of the day is. I, like probably so many of you, have a life and it consists of working, a little reading and trying to figure out how to pay the bills…..not much time for whatever flavor of the day the media wants to throw at us of trivial crap….sorry! I also have the added pleasure of trying to figure out how much money the Government is going to suck out of us for all the free crap they are going to give someone else that has not worked for it. SO, forgive me if I just cannot wrap my brain around how damn important this deflated ball issue is in comparison to trying to save what is left of my money and my country!

Well, Steve, you just came off that pedestal you were up on with that comment, but then again, guess the answer was expected, haha! Yes, I can see it on ESPN, but damn, on every channel there is??? I am sick of hearing about it, it is trivial and meaningless in the whole scope of things going on it the world. That is why I said that the media will run with it or anything else that is silly/stupid in order to run cover for this Administration.

I am just wondering how this will be exploited once Obamacare starts using it here? Will be real handy to stop treatment on people and just let them die, humanly of course, right?
I have said before, anytime the Government can put something in “numbers” then they can control us, whether it is for Diabetes or High Cholesterol, and at what point can they force us to take the meds instead of an alternate source of natural products?
One of my friends told me with Medicare, IF a doctor wants you to do something or take something and you turn it down, that doctor does not need to keep treating you and you have to find another doctor. It is also reported to HHS that you denied the treatment. Wonder what the penalty will be from that OR I should say the punishment? I have not had a chance to check this out, but will try and look it up as to if it is true or not. Scary, isn’t it?
