  According to this story the White House knew that Hillary Clinton was using her personal email account to conduct State Department business as early as last August but the decision was made to keep it quiet.

The White House, State Department and Hillary Clinton’s personal office knew in August that House Republicans had received information showing that the former secretary of state conducted official government business through her private email account — and Clinton’s staff made the decision to keep quiet.

Sources familiar with the discussions say key people in the Obama administration and on Clinton’s staff were aware that the revelation could be explosive for the all-but-announced candidate for president. But those involved deferred to Clinton’s aides, and they decided not to respond.

    But according to White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest claims that Barack Obama had no clue:

White House press secretary Josh Earnest took care to point out that Obama himself was unaware of any issues with Clinton’s email. “The expectation of the president is that everybody throughout his administration is acting in compliance with the Federal Records Act,” Earnest said on Wednesday.

  We are supposed to believe that key aides knew about a potential scandal in the State Department and not one of them thought this was an important enough issue to even mention to the President? This is unbelievable to me but it is the same excuse which was given when the Fast and Furious scandal broke and we learned that key White House aides knew about the gun running scandal but supposedly did not tell the President what the Department of Injustice was up to.

  This is to be expected from Barack Obama but what I would like to know is this; if the Republicans knew about this last August and found out during the investigation into Benghazi why was it not made public back then?
