MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry owes the IRS $70,000 in delinquent taxes for 2013

  Below is MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry calling out Sam Brownback for his tax policies. If you do not care to listen to her arrogance and condescension you can skip to roughly the 3:30 mark in the video to hear her tell Mr. Brownback that he has no intention of asking the rich to pay their fair share.

  She certainly seems legitimately upset that the rich do not pay their fair share, doesn’t she? But if one wants to call out people who do not pay enough in taxes you would think that person would make sure his or her own house was in order, but Melissa Harris-Perry’s own house is not in order because we learned today that the IRS has slapped a $70,000 lien on her house because she is delinquent on her own taxes.

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry and her husband, James Perry, owe about $70,000 in delinquent taxes to the Internal Revenue Service, the Winston-Salem Journal reported Thursday.

The IRS filed a tax lien on the Perrys on April 6 for the outstanding debt, which is from 2013. In an email to the Winston-Salem Journal, Harris-Perry said she was unaware of the tax lien but knew about the debt and that she and her husband had paid $21,721 toward the total owed. She said personal crises had caused them to pay off the debt slower than expected.

“We were aware that we would continue to need to work to pay off the 2013 debt,” Harris-Perry wrote in the email.

  So she owes $70,000 for the year 2013 alone, which means she owes more in taxes than the people she is supposedly fighting for earn in one year. In my mind, correct me if I am wrong, this means she is one of the people she has been fighting against. And while she claims the tax rate is too low for people like herself she did not even pay the legal tax rate for people of her affluence.

  If there is one thing more aggravating than being lectured by an illumined one as arrogant and condescending as Melissa Harris-Perry it is being lectured by a hypocrite and it turns out that is exactly what she is.
