Potential Republican candidate Carly Fiorina claims she could neutralize Hillary Clinton in 2016 Presidential race

April 17, 2015

Carly Fiorina is exploring a Presidential run in 2016 as a potential Republican candidate. I have to be honest here: I know nothing about her but I think that is forgivable because she is not a politician and in fact has never held a political office before. She did run for the Senate in the state of California in 2010 but that is the extent of her foray into politics.

Yesterday she made some interesting comments on why she would be the best Republican candidate to square off against Democratic presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton in the general election and it comes down to this; she is a woman.

  Here is more:

Potential Republican presidential contender Carly Fiorina said Thursday that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won’t be able to “play the gender card” if she faces off against a woman in the presidential contest.

“I think that if Hillary Clinton were to face a female nominee, there are a whole set of things that she won’t be able to talk about,” Fiorina told reporters at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast. “She won’t be able to talk about being the first woman president. She won’t be able to talk about a war on women without being challenged. She won’t be able to play the gender card.”

Fiorina said in a female vs. female presidential match-up, Clinton would have to run on “her track record, her accomplishments, her candor and trustworthiness and her policies.”

“And I think that’s what elections should be run on — not identity politics, not what you look like, but who you are, and what you believe, and what you’ve done, and what you will do,” she continued.

carlyfiorina She does make an interesting point about her candidacy forcing Hillary Clinton to focus on her record because gender will be off the table, but while making the claim that a campaign should not be run “what you look like” is she not making the claim she should be the nominee based on what she looks like? It certainly looks to me as if she is using “identity politics” to offset “identity politics” and I do not think she realizes it–or she hopes that we do not.

As I said above, I do not know anything about her but on the surface she appears to be the female version of Mitt Romney: a person who has been successful in business and the CEO of a large corporation but that alone does not qualify her to be President any more than being a doctor qualifies Ben Carson.

While her candidacy may eliminate the gender issue it will reignite the left’s war on income inequality and much like Mitt Romney the left would use her as an example of everything that is wrong with capitalism in their fight against those who have been successful in their lives. Plus Mitt Romney had more political experience than Carly Fiorina and we saw how that worked out…

If she decides to run for President I will listen to what she has to say and I will make a decision based on her political positions, I will not base my decision on the fact that she is a woman and if she does run for President I believe that is how she should be judged.

…and of course the Clintin’s net worth of a reportedly approximate $150,000,000 will be off the table as well as their Clinton Library international slush fund. In today’s America Hillary’s cupcakes would beat Carly’s solid business acumen, a trait sorely needed in the White House.

Shhhh Peter, we are not supposed to mention that. Hillary is just an ordinary American like you and I. 😉

Ya, Peter and Steve, just a regular “guy” like the rest of us. Do you remember the movie with Rodney Dangerfield in it called Easy Money? He had a clothes line in it for the “regular guy” that I just pictured Hillary as being. However, in it, they were making fun of his look in the film and put out the clothing, it became a big hit, in spite of what they were doing. I have no idea why I thought of that, oh well….

I saw that movie years ago but I really do not remember it at all. The question is, will this actually work? I cannot believe the American people will fall for this and in fact I expect this to be a short-lived attempt.

I think you have her figured out even without studying her background. She’s absolutely right about two female nominees neutralizing use of the “gender card”, but that doesn’t say anything about HER being the right woman.

Your example of Ben Carson was astute too. He constantly opines outside his areas of expertise. The man was one of our very finest, most expert surgeons, but he has no credential in psychology, and he’s even admitted he doesn’t believe in evolution. Very problematic as a political candidate.

Fiorina’s a failed CEO, btw. The Hewlett-Packard board fired her when she mismanaged a large merger between HP and Compaq, which her successor then fixed. She went into politics (as a hopeful) because her options in business became limited after such a high profile termination.

belief re: evolution? Natural selection is legit but it sounds as if you’ve got a bit of studying to do re: missing links …

I didn’t even realize she was fired and to be honest I only recently saw her name pop up as a political candidate. Before that I had not heard of her. I don’t think she is a legitimate candidate but I will give her a chance.

She stirs the pot quite nicely from what I have heard from her. Even if it goes no where, I think she is a plus. The merger had to happen. She managed to save some jobs. Had the merger not gone through from what I have read. No one likes a merger, especially boards. There is no “fixing’mergers’. They are what they are.IMO.

Yeah, it cannot hurt to have multiple voices in the primary in my opinion. She could be one of those candidates who really gets under the skin of the left.

I’m listening … she seems OK so far … neutralizing Hillary may be OK but I’d rather see her behind bars!

So far she has been able to made a good case that she should be the next President. Mostly because she isn’t afraid to speak out.

Won’t work. Palin didn’t remove gender from the table. The Feminists banded together to attack her and her children because she was a woman as opposed to some walking vagina that wants abortions to be free so it can continue to neither know nor care about what gets shoved in it.

Usually it’s, ‘may the best shyster win’. But since we have the Globalist leaders behind it, they primp their own (of which Hellary is one). Interesting thought though, a cat fight rather than a dog and cat. So many shows today depicting a female prez has to be conditioning the people for it. Saw this and found it telling:

Is it me or while listening to this guy, is anyone else focused on his hat going up and down with his eyebrows? I do like him!

Notice though Steve that the ‘once American normal family’ has an autistic kid – like they are the ‘weak link’ in the chain. Their kids being ‘made’ that way from the toxic vaccines and GMO/dyes/RoundUp spray, etc. the Gov. (who cares …) forces on the families. Would Carly F. ‘care enough’ to shut down the Globalist Pharms and corrupt CDC? That would be a plus!

Clinton is NOT for the middle class, she has no idea what that is anymore if she ever did! I do not know much about Fiorina, but if she can put doubt into middle America about who Clinton is, she will have been an asset. This is way to early to even think who will be the front runner, I know “they” want to tell us already, but chances are it will not BE that person in the end. I like different things about each person that is stepping into the ring, but have not seen anyone that I am thrilled about yet. Ted Cruz might be the closest to that “thrill”, but even he is not perfect. I know we are fresh out of “perfect”, but the Republicans better come up with someone close or there will be alot of people that stay home and not vote, again! If and when that happens, I do not know if the Republicans will ever have the chance to get into office again, at least not in my lifetime. We are out of time and they better start getting serious and not run whoever they feel is the entitled one like they did with McCain. We see what that got us! Just because you have been in a party long enough does not give you the right to a position. I thought it was up to US who we want, but apparently I am wrong. I seem to be wrong on so many fronts lately, I question how I can get up out of bed and function all day!!!

She can definitely be an asset in the race even if she probably has no chance. It will be interesting to see how she does. Jeb has been pushed off the front page but we know when he enters the race he will be called the front runner but I am no longer sure that will be the case. Maybe I am just fooling myself though because we know where the money is going to go.

Not surprisingly, I supported, donated, and worked for her run for Senator. My guess is that the bookies would give her slim chances, like Carson, but as Oblabla would say, we need a “serious conversation” on what is needed to be president.
You can have all the experience the is, and be crappy-Carter, and have no experience and be crappy-Obama. You can have outstanding credentials and mess up-Bush #1, or you can have outstanding credentials in another field and do good-Eisenhower

Very good point Bruce, she might have a slim chance but adding another voice to the debate is a good thing to say the least.
