Senate Republicans vote to give Barack Obama fast-track authority on the TPP

May 22, 2015

tpp-fast-track-1The Republicans have been attacking Barack Obama for quite some time now as being an out of control, lawless, usurping President who cares not for the Constitution and the separation of powers contained within. They have been promising to “reign him in” and stop him from assuming powers not granted to him under the Constitution but today, when they had the chance, they voted to give him even more power.

Barack Obama has been pushing for fast-track authority on the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal he has been negotiating in private and today the President won a key battle when the Senate voted to give him the power he has been longing for–and yes, it was the Republicans who put it over the top.

  Here is more:

President Obama won a big victory for his trade agenda Friday with the Senate’s approval of fast-track legislation that could make it easier for him to complete a wide-ranging trade deal that would include 11 Pacific Rim nations.

A coalition of48 Senate Republicans and 14 Democrats voted for Trade Promotion Authority late Friday, sending the legislation to the House for a difficult fight as Obama faces more entrenched opposition from Democrats.

“This is an important bill, likely the most important bill we will pass this year. It’s important to President Obama,” Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and primary author of the bill, said at the close of debate.

I have been saying it for quite some time but it bears repeating: The establishment in both parties are on the same side and we are merely the poor players in a game which is being played behind the veil of secrecy. This is the old Hegelian Dialectic of divide and conquer rearing its ugly head once again; create a problem, create the opposition, and out of the controlled chaos implement the predetermined solution. ordo ab chao…

This battle is not over for now it is on to the House for a vote but we have seen this movie before and we know how it ends…

Malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

Wow! Just wow! Your hypothesis seems to be growing even more merit Steve…both sides batting for one side, their own. Unbelievable…

Yeah, sadly in the end I believe they are fighting for the establishment and not for the people. They believe that one day they will be in power again and when they are they want to have the same power they are giving Obama. It is not about the Constitution in my opinion but about power.

Not sure when greed took over completely. Greed is like a live entity and is live and well in this administration that’s for sure. Makes one wonder if it will ever recover and show any resemblance to day’s past.

Gosh, just think what they’d do if they didn’t like us! … humm.
Actually they’re giving the ‘powers that be’ more power – or just confessing their exiting power. No doubt all this is already in play and this group’s just going thru the motions and formality. The twisted sorts that rule like the pomp and show ~ it’s their political religion.

I don’t know either Lorra and greed is only a part of it, they are also motivated by power.

Exactly Zip, the outcome has been predetermined and now they are playing their roles in order to fool us into believing there is a real conflict here.

Unreal,, we are totally occupied…. for a long time! We have no branch of government that is functioning. No better time to take it back through our own appointed Grand Jury.. This Corp is on our turf too long and people do not realize that there is remedy if they just fight back! Their fraudulent gov and corp is not even in our jurisdiction, and they had no consent. http://www.nationallibertyalliance.org

Sadly it seems that too many people have lost hope and are giving up or are just totally clueless to what is going on.

We are being stabbed in the back. I’d hoped the GOP would be a viable alternative to the Democrats. No longer.

The last thing in the world we need is another extra governmental bureaucracy. I’ve been noting how the European Union deals with the internal laws and politics of its member states. We don’t need that kind of crap here. While the TPP isn’t as bad as the E.U., it still has some of its nastier features.

    Now what?

Have we got any actual small government Republicans, Tea Partiers or Libertarians available? Anyone who will at least approximately do what they promise?

The only one really fighting this stuff is Rand Paul in my opinion. Ted Cruz also but Paul seems to be the most vocal.

Let’s stop with the Cruz crap. His opting out of the Lynch vote to attend a fund raiser qualifies him as bought and sold regardless of his filibustering exploit last year. There is not a statesman on either side willing to stand up and fight the good fight with the exception of Elizabeth Warren. Who woulda thunk it.

Yeah Steve we’re all floundering about trying to believe in and follow one of these continually disappointing guys but their all doing their best to shake us off. After all they’re nothing more than politicians. But everyone needs to believe in something; I believe I’ll have another beer.

The People have no representation in D.C. – yes, I said it! There is no representative who always obeys the Constitution and his constituents – not one!

There are those who obey parts of the Constitution, but violate other parts. Those who obey their constituents some times, but choose to obey their party or their non-constituent donors over their constituents other times.

Disgusted by the whole lot of them!

    President Obama and
    Senator Dianne Feinstein,

    Congratulations,

You got fast track TPP passed by going against your constituents.

I don’t know why you did that Unless you both have secretly changed your political party to Republican.

You have made big corporate business and Republicans very happy.

You have left Democrats and the middle class feeling betrayed, let down, sad and angry.

    Thanks a lot.

I am very sorry, and embarrassed that I have been supporting you.

I hope I have learned not to be so trusting from now on.

    Sincerely
    Dale Boyco

It just takes some people longer to make up their minds on IF they are being taken advantage of, Dr. J! We should have never been put in the position of having to worry about our Government putting the screws to us.

We Americans are loosing our rights because certain leaders are allowing corporations to put PROFIT over the HEALTH and SAFETY of American Citizens.

    This is happening because
corporations give millions of dollars to politicians who in turn make it possible for the corporations to do what ever they want to do without any regard for the safety of people or the environment in our country and around the world.

WHAT KIND OF LEADERSHIP IS THIS? !!!!!!!!

It is the RIGHT of all American citizens to live in a country NOT RULED BY CORPORATE GREED.

When our rights get taken away in the name of freedom, that weakens the democracy of the United States.

    These leaders keep trying to

    TAKE AWAY OUR HEALTHCARE

    TAKE AWAY OUR SOCIAL SECURITY.

    TAKE AWAY OUR PENSIONS.

BLOCK THE RIGHT TO VOTE TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR THEM TO WIN ELECTIONS.

FORCE MIDDLE CLASS AMERICANS TO PAY OUT OF OUR OWN POCKETS THE TAX MONEY THAT CORPORATIONS SHOULD BE PAYING.

We are even losing our right to
Live in a clean and safe environment
Because corporations are being allowed to pollute are planet.

    Poisoning our beaches and oceans,

    poisoning the air we breath,

    poisoning the food we eat,

poisoning the water we drink and

poisoning the land we live on.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

There are so many of our rights being trampled on that there isn’t enough space on my computer to list them all.

And as corporations demand to get richer, our leaders try to take more of our rights away.

Lately I have been seeing more statements on the internet from people who are saying that If our rights continue to be taken from us then it could eventually lead to another civil war in the United States.

    That frightens me.

Hitler came to power in a democracy with a highly liberal constitution, and in part by using democratic freedoms to undermine and then destroy democracy itself while Germany’s corporate leaders got very rich.

This might sound like another one of those annoying Hitler comparison.

BUT the corporate domination that is taking place in our country right now
Is very similar to the change that took place in Germany in the early 1900s and it is making me nervous.

    We are very lucky that

SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS, FORMER GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY AND SENATOR RAND PAUL ARE FIGHTING AGAINST THE CORPORATE CORRUPTION IN OUR COUNTRY AND ALL THREE OF THEM ARE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

Will you join the millions of us Americans and support these three courageous leaders who are fighting hard to protect our Civil Rights our Freedoms and our Democracy.

And please make it a top priority to do everything you can to URGE ALL OF OUR LEADERS to STOP this outrageous corporate take over of the United States before it gets way to hard to stop.

We don’t need another civil war in the United States.

Anymore there is not much of a difference between parties and I truly believe that we are ALL pissed about this! Is this what we are paying the “electeds” to do for us? I wish someone would pay me the kind of money they have AND benefits and retirements…I could do a much better job for the American people. Welcome to the club of “people that still give a damn”, glenn20152015!
