Barack Obama admits fast-track legislation will grant him power to implement his climate change agenda

June 10, 2015

tpp-fast-track-1For some reason many of the Republicans in the Congress are willing to give more power to Barack Obama through a deal which is known as the TPA. If this legislation is passed it will allow the President to bring trade agreements to the Congress for a straight up or down vote and the Congress will not have the authority to amend the deals.

This is being debated mainly to fast-track Barack Obama’s super secret Trans-Pacific Partnership deal but from what I have read it will also apply to future trade deals as well.

Despite earlier denials Barack Obama has now admitted this will grant him the power to push his climate change agenda.

  Here is more:

During the interview with host Kai Ryssdal of Marketplace, Obama said, “If we want to solve something like climate change, which is one of my highest priorities, then I’ve got to be able to get into places like Malaysia, and say to them, this is in your interest.”

“What leverage do I have to get them to stop deforestation?” he asked. “Well part of the leverage is, if I’m in a trade relationship with them, that allows me to raise standards, now they have to start thinking about how quick they’re chopping down their forests and what kinds of standards they need to apply to environmental conservation.”

“So, we have to engage, not withdraw,” the president stated.

Of course what the President omitted here is that if a country is going to give up something in regards to climate change they are going to be looking for and expecting something in return. This will not be a one way street so what is Barack Obama willing to give up in return? Well, I guess that is a secret as well.

With this admission from Barack Obama Paul Ryan has now introduced an amendment which would prohibit the President from negotiating climate change using fast-track authority, here is more on that:

If House Republicans get their way, president Obama won’t be able to use any trade pact to strike a deal on climate change.

Late Tuesday evening, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin offered up an amendment to a customs bill that would “ensure that trade agreements do not require changes to U.S. law or obligate the United States with respect to global warming or climate change.”

Okay, I have to admit I am a little confused here: the Republicans want to grant Barack Obama the authority to bring trade agreements to the Congress for an up or down vote without amendments but now they are trying to amend the TPA agreement before he has this authority to limit his authority?

Does that make any sense whatsoever? It seems to me that if the Republicans want to limit what the President can use fast-track authority on they would be better off not granting him this power in the first place. If they are worried about what he is going to do with that power why bother giving it to him in the first place? Am I missing something here because it certainly seems like they are trying to have it both ways…

They are insane, Steve. They want to give bam-bam this power, but they want him to use it only how they want it used. Idjits!

Yep, Laura. A den of thieves. Seems like if they’re in a position of power they’re the very ones that shouldn’t be for the good of all.

It seems, they’re hooked in an insatiable hunger for power and control. More is never enough – just like greed to the banksters and wall street guru’s. Brings to mind the 7 Deadly Sins: These six things doth the LORD hate [and we’re finding out we do too!]: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Proverbs 6:16-19 (KJB)

What is scary is the lack of public accountability. WHY is this shrouded in secrecy? Why do the legislatures who want to have a look at it stripped of every recording device, camera or whatever, in order to view the documents? I think there is so much more going on here than we can even imagine!

I would like to hear their explanation for shrouding this in secrecy in the first place. Such secrecy goes against everything on which our Country was founded.

EXACTLY!!! So, where is the media outcry? Why don’t Americans even have a clue what the TPP even is? Ask the average American and they have zero clue and some even go so far as to say they just don’t care, not interested. REALLY? I Pray for America….
But, he is the most transparent president yet, huh? NOT!!!

THE ONLY TRUE MEDIA IS ALTERNATIVE MEDIA, MAINSTREAM IS ONLY GOOD FOR COVERING, PROTECTING, AND DISTRIBUTING LIES; THEY ARE A PART OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER. IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE, YOU MAY NOT COUNT ON YOUR LOCAL STATIONS FOR WEATHER REPORTS, AND THEY WILL LEAVE YOU OUT IN THE RAIN. TIME TO STOP ASKING QUESTIONS AND BE PREPARED FOR CHAOS AND ACTION, ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MAINSTREAM IS A WASTE OF TIME, BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET ANY INTEGRITY. I HAVE BEEN BLUE WITH THIS FOR THE LONGEST, AND NOW I AM PURPLE. THERE ARE STILL SOME STUPID FOLKS THAT WANT TO PROTECT THEIR PARTIES, AND NONE OF THEM ARE ANY DAMNED GOOD. TIME TO BECOME CONSPIRACY REALISTS.:::

Lorra and Laura, nothing good can come from something which is hidden from us. Wouldn’t you love to know what the true goal of this is? Laura, that is a great Patrick Henry quote.

Brittius posted this on his blog: PRINCIPLES OF NATURAL LAW: The Constitution Cannot Be Amended By Treaty Or Presidential Decree http://theroadtoconcord.com/2015/06/11/principles-of-natural-law-the-constitution-cannot-be-amended-by-treaty-or-presidential-decree/
“… we need to understand the relationship between the Natural Right to Contract and the Social Contract, as well as why we stress that form and function are what define a thing or idea. If we understand these three things, we will understand why the President cannot amend the Constitution by treaty or decree, and why any government official who acts as though he can is guilty of subversion and should be charged, tried, convicted and sentenced accordingly.”

Exactly right Zip, the founders never would have created a document to control the government and then give the government the power to so easily over subvert it through treaties.

The unions are opposed to this so yes there are many Democrats who are opposed to it as well. It makes you wonder why Obama is for it; all I can come up with is the possibility that he can use this for climate change and immigration and he is willing to sacrifice the unions because he can be “more flexible” now.

Guess they paid off, I think 8 Democrats to go ahead and vote for it yesterday, that vote was 217-212??? So, here we are today getting ready to give Obama what he wants and rest assured they will not take this final vote unless they know it will pass. EU here we come!!!!

lou222, you’ve noticed what I’ve noticed over the years. It won’t be voted on until the votes are there. I can’t remember a bill voted down.

Well, we are both wrong on this one….the majority of Dems did not vote along with the majority of Republicans on this one today. Even with Obama showing up today and last night at a baseball game, it did not do it. I would take it that these Dems are up for re-election and could not sell their unions out and chance not getting that big fat paycheck. However, Monday is another day and Paul Ryan said over the weekend they would be talking to ones that voted no and hopefully change their minds for a Monday vote, so this is not over. They will get it. It is just taking longer. They are trying to vote on too much with TPP, TAA, whatever the other “T” was, to confuse all of us. I would say it probably did the job.

Normally a bill will not come up for a vote until it is certain it will pass in order to avoid an embarrassment like this. Boehner gambled because in the end he thought Obama could get enough Democrats on board but he couldn’t, at least not yet.
The bill is going to be voted on again and Pelosi is basically saying if there is a highway bill attached to it she will change her vote. It looks to me as if we can expect a few “pet projects” to be included in this bill before the next vote and I believe once this is done it will pass.

I heard a rumor that Sessions was going to be prosecuted for releasing details of the TPP. I’ve read articles that the TPP will create a ‘union’ similar to the European Union. I’ve read some pretty horrific details about this. It’s scaring the crap out of me!!

It seems that nothing ever good comes from the Democrats or the Republicans now. We are on the receiving end of very, very bad governing.
There are a handful that are trying to get the word out, but there are others hell bent on taking them down. Laura, you have good reason to be scared, we all do. BUT, life goes on and there are still those that do not see. Amazing, isn’t it?

People not seeing is what they count on. Dismiss, deny, deflect, deride…that’s what the government – not just the left – does to everyone who opposes them, who tries to hold them accountable, and keep them within the boundaries of the Constitution. Too many people, on both sides of the aisle, are willing to blindly accept the word of the government as truth.

Enter a bill that was voted down (now I’ve seen one). But Pelosi says changes can be made to cause it to pass. Maybe job retraining provision that humans can wipe down robot hands making hamburgers with alcohol wipes. Yeah well fine. Who washes the humans hands that handle the wipes?

This does not happen often, Boehner gambled that Democrats wouldn’t oppose Obama and he lost. However the pot will be sweetened over the weekend with things like a highway bill and other bills which have not passed on their own and when this is done I believe it will be passed.
