Open thread for Saturday, July 18th: ‘When I’m Gone’
Here is the open thread for Saturday, July 18th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week we covered another 9 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.
In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.
The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!
You may be wondering why the open thread comes on a Saturday this week and that is because, unlike last week when I jumped the gun, tomorrow I am hopping in the company van at 4:00 AM and heading to Virginia for two weeks to work on a project. I will be working long hours so I do not know how much I will be able to post or visit the blog “When I’m Gone” so here is 3 Doors Down once again this week.

Well, ok, go if you must! If this is where you want us to converse, then it is probably going to be one hell of a long blog, just be prepared. Or, you might come back and no one has posted….no, now that I think about it, doubt that will happen. I know how opinionated I get all by myself (probably what you all were thinking anyway). Have a safe trip! Will hold down the fort while you are gone.

Gives one that ‘mystic’ feel. I use to flow in that flow, but today I like the solidness of standing on the Rock of Truth. That old commercial ‘Take me away Calgon’ we didn’t question ‘where’, we just took for granted it would be better! Today, we’re learning that might not be the case and the ‘Mystic’ might not be what we ‘long for’ or fulfills our dreams (desires and wants). Finding it better to being alert and aware, while living in this ‘spiritual realm’ in a physical body – that’s limited, easily conned and ages unto death! The only place I want my ‘soul and spirit to fly off to’ isn’t into the ‘unknown mystic’ rather to the Lover of my soul and giver of my spirit – then the rest of the lyrics fit better – liberty and secure!

You have to admit when you listened to it, you were probably swaying with your eyes closed! Ha! Van Morrison had that effect on a person, one of my very favorites! Ya, it fit way back in the past when we were young and the world was wide open to us,,,back in “the day”….now we have to be on constant alert and keep each other updated on what we know. Times, they sure are changing! Still a good song to lower the blood pressure!
My daughter and I used to use Spring Blush body spray by Calgon, for some reason when we were talking we would bring the name up in the middle of what we were saying, guess it was a standing joke. Never mind, you had to be there, I guess!

I read that Obama wants to give the “entitled” crowd free internet as a “right”….wonder who will be picking up that tab? Oh ya, it will become yet another FEE on our bill, like we have on the cell phones and anything else they can add a FEE to. I want to know where I can get all these freebies!

The changes are obvious in the photos of getting ‘into’ that music goth zone. They start out so normal looking then thru the process of popularity or whatever, seem to become much different. ‘Disintegration’ is an appropriate word. SDL, I see you have been here and gone, thanks for a new tune! It is a rainy day here in beautiful central Illinois! Was going to mow, now not so much!
I saw and heard about this yesterday and have been thinking about how something like this could happen, but then thought that with THIS Administration, anything is possible.
It is getting to the point that being appointed to a position, in Obamas world, has nothing to do with qualifications for the job. I will submit Ash Carter, the Secretary of Defense. While he is a highly educated individual with credentials out the wazoo, his lack of military experience is showing…..to tell the recruiters to NOT wear their uniform takes a special kind of stupid. What are those service members thinking, when I am sure they are proud to wear their uniform! This on top of not being armed, never ceases to amaze me when it comes to the decisions this Administration makes…enjoy the article and please tell me your thoughts on this, because mine are ones of amazement and wondering why we have a Secretary of Defense with absolutely NO military experience!!!! He was an under-secretary to Chuck Hagel, I believe, so that might be a smidgen of experience Hell, we have a CinC without any as well…maybe this is part of our problem, decisions being made (militarily) without any prior knowledge!

Goodmorning SDL! That man was a wonderful speaker and he did it all without a teleprompter! Everything he said is right in line with what is happening in American, he is right, about that. We are letting it happen and doing nothing. I wonder when that video was made? Who was he? It had to be maybe in the 50’s or early 60’s from how he was dressed. Thanks for sharing that.

Wow, did not know all of that, glad you posted it. I had heard bits and pieces about McCain. I do not like him and seems like I have a good basis for that. When I saw Bob Dornan come up in the video, I was surprised, I sure like him…he was a mans man and told it like it was….wish we had more of HIM in Congress…now we have a bunch of wooses! If what different ones in the film are telling the truth about POW’s and vets feel that way about McCain, then I am sure what Trump had to say does not have much to worry about.

I have a feeling we will never know half of what this Administration has pulled on us, maybe years from now, but they are moving fast. It is both parties, to be fair, we are being hit from the people we trusted to do our bidding….sad, huh? There are a handful that are still trying, but the good ones are being taken out so they do not ruin it for the others….they see their “cash cow” and that cash cow is US!

Here is another good read! Correct me if I am wrong, but would ANYONE believe this guy? Look at that sh*t eatting grin of his,,,it just tells me he is a BIG LIAR and knows he will get away with it….not unlike Lois Lerner or John Koskinen the IRS commissioner or Marilyn Tavenner that was promoted to a bigger better job. They all had that same smug grin that says they know they are lying, but make them prove it and doesn’t matter if you find out they are….what is WRONG with these people? The old adage of “Lie, deny and make them prove it” works so well with this whole bunch and yes I am generalizing and can do it if I want to!
