Did John Boehner cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi to avoid a government shutdown before he announced his resignation?

September 26, 2015

Ever since John Boehner announced he was resigning from the House something in my mind told me there was more to this story than we were being told–something was not right, why would John Boehner do this? I could not wrap my head around it, but if this story is true we might just have the answer.

Rumors are circulating in Washington that before he resigned he cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi to avoid a government shutdown and fund all of Barack Obama’s must-pass priorities.

  Here is more:

According to those sources, outgoing House Speaker Rep. John Boehner and Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi agreed that her Democratic caucus would join Boehner along with a handful of Boehner loyalists and moderate establishment Republicans to continue Planned Parenthood funding, along with a few other budget items President Obama says were must-haves, in order to avoid a Government shutdown.

Boehner resigned because he knew that after he cut that deal, conservatives in his own party would be so furious with him that it would make challenges to his Speakership a certainty, sources say. Even if he survived those challenges, his remaining year and three months in office would be contentious and personally uncomfortable for him.

Boehner reportedly knew that cutting such a deal to avoid a shutdown would result in a brutal battle with conservatives in  his own party. He felt he could win challenges to his leadership mounted by conservatives in his own party, but thought it might do damage to the House and the Republican Party, sources say.

Again, these are only rumors but it does explain quite a bit and I think it is highly likely this is the case. We will know for sure as we watch the funding battle play out but it looks like the fix is in and John Boehner, who is always more willing to work with the opposite party than with his own caucus, has given the conservatives one last middle finger on his way out the door.

Steve, we all know Boehner didn’t resign for the good of the party. Or, as he states, ” My 1st priority as speaker is to protect the institution ” Yeah right Bonehead.

Ted Cruz doesn’t buy it for a second either. He thinks Boehner is selling out in exchange for a cushy dem lobbyist spot, among other rewards. And I’ll have to go with Ted on this one.

That sounds much more likely to me, this whole “I did it for the party” excuse is about as lame as it can get.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he ‘did the dirty’ with pelousi (oops, did I spell her name wrong??? shame on me 😉 ), he’s done deals that have benefited obama and screwed us before.

However, no way is he resigning ’cause of that. He’s resigning ’cause he’s a dirty, no-good, piece of (whoops, almost said something unladylike 😉 ) and he knows he’s gonna lose Speaker. That’s why he’s ‘retiring.’

    🙂

This might not be the sole reason he is leaving, if it is true, but there is more to this than him just realizing he was going to lose the Speakership I believe. I don’t know what it is but something is not right here.
By the way, I wish you didn’t use the term “did the dirty” with Pelosi. The image I got I will never be able to unsee. 🙂

For being 75, she actually looks pretty good, I know she has had alot of surgery, but doesn’t look bad. The ugly part is on the inside and she has that “full up” on the ugly.

Laura, I think that is how Michael Savage pronounces her name, so you are in good company. Might be alot of fraternizing going on amongst the elite, we would not be on a “need to know basis”, I am sure, being the little people we are!

Gov. is suppose to be a terror against evil, but this Gov and it’s candidates have flipped that: the terror of evil ARE this Gov. Totally sickening.
