Harry Reid endorses Paul Ryan for Speaker of the House

October 21, 2015

Paul Ryan has earned a notch in his belt, if you can call it that, in his bid (don’t let him sell you on his “reluctance” to take the job) to become John Boehner’s successor as Speaker of the House and it comes from none other than Harry Reid, who apparently endorsed his candidacy last night. While admitting he does not have much in common with Paul Ryan Harry Reid talked about how he has been able to work with him in the past.

  Here is more:

The Democratic leader offered his surprise backing for Ryan (R-Wis.) to assume the House speakership, saying he hopes Ryan runs and wins the job because he’s a “Paul Ryan fan.”

“He appears to me to be one of the people over there that would be reasonable. I mean look at some of the other people,” Reid said. “I don’t agree with him on much of what he does. I think what he’s done with Medicare and Medicaid, what he’s wanted to do I disagree with. But generally speaking we’ve been able to work with him.”

Not exactly a ringing endorsement to say the least but an endorsement nonetheless. Paul Ryan, who reached his apex with the Republican voters during his time as Mitt Romney’s running-mate, has lost favor with the conservatives in the party since then. He has flip-flopped on amnesty again, which has hurt him, but there is more; he supported the TPA and the TPP, and he caved on the budget–which was supposed to be his strong point.

The conservatives in the Republican party no longer trust him, and for good reason, and now Harry Reid has thrown fuel on the fire with his support of the former vice-presidential candidate. The man whom the Democrats once depicted as throwing granny off the cliff during a campaign commercial is now suddenly the Minority Leader’s preferred person in the Republican party to become a leader, funny how that works isn’t it? Or is it? I will get to that in a moment.

But is there more to this story? Here is what Harry Reid said when asked about whether or not his endorsement would hurt Paul Ryan:

“I just speak the truth,” Reid said. “If it helps him fine, if it doesn’t that’s too bad.”

Of course Harry Reid knows it is not going to help him so what is his true intention? Does he really support Paul Ryan or is he slyly trying to undermine his candidacy?

Personally I believe we saw underneath the veil just a little bit: I have written on many occasions that the Republicans and the Democrats in Washington are privately on the same side and only publicly put on the appearance of being opposed to one another using controlled opposition through the Hegelian Dialectic to bring about the change they intended to bring about all along. I think the corner of that veil was lifted just a little bit last night…

Of course we out here in the outlying territories are clueless to the inner workings of that great corruption behemoth known as Congress. Is it Harry and Paul or Paul and Harry? Could this be quid pro quo? Regardless, the congress has degenerated to self interest, party lines which translates into lbbyist’s interests.

I’ve been curious as to what the reblog feature does. This post brings up a good question. Is Reid and Paul in cahoots or is Reid trying to undermine Paul?

Good question, Terrant! It surely could be the kiss of death for Ryan OR it could be more of the same good old boy networking. We, unfortunately are the ones that will get screwed no matter the outcome.

Only in this screwed up world would it be a good thing to have Harry Reid endorse someone from the other side. We ARE screwed, aren’t we?

If Reid’s for him, and it Reid’s anti-US, the people … what does that equal?
