Latest New Hampshire poll has Bernie Sanders leading Hillary Clinton by 10 points

December 9, 2015

I always caution people to take national polls with a grain of salt and the latest New Hampshire poll is a perfect example of why national polls can be used to judge the mindset of the voters but not necessarily the outcome of the individual state elections.

Last week a national poll was released which showed that Hillary Clinton was leading Bernie Sanders by 28 points however a new New Hampshire poll just came out and it shows us that Bernie Sanders is leading Hillary Clinton by 10 points.

  Here is more:

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders continues to hold a lead over Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, the state set to host the nation’s first primary next February.

The latest CNN/WMUR poll of New Hampshire’s likely Democratic primary voters tells a different story than that of national and Iowa polling, where Clinton holds double-digit leads.

The poll finds 50% of likely Democratic primary voters in New Hampshire back Sanders, 40% Clinton, 1% former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley.

Before I go any further I just want to state that I am a little surprised that New Hampshire Democrats have apparently shifted this far to the left but it is what it is. (I also need to state at this point that I did not take my own advice on national polls in the post I did about the former Secretary of State leading Bernie Sanders by 28 points with my “crash and Bern” statement.)

Hillary Clinton still appears poised to win in Iowa but if Bernie Sanders does defeat her in the Granite State it could provide him momentum heading into the first in the south primary in South Carolina and we have seen what finishing strong in New Hampshire can do to a person’s Presidential aspirations. After all, after finishing in second place in New Hampshire in 1992 the media dubbed Bill Clinton the “comeback kid” and this propelled him to the Presidency.

Will it happen this time around only in reverse? Only time will tell but I have to believe this is in the back of Hillary Clinton’s mind.

Although he won’t do so Bernard could run in the national election and possibly ciphen off a couple of votes from the world’s meanest fat ass.

I would love to see that happen Peter but I think you are right and he would not do that. We can still dream though, can’t we?
