January 3rd open thread: Ace of Spades
Here is the open thread for Sunday, January 3rd. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week we covered 9 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.
In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.
The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!
Heavy metal music lost an icon last week when Lemmy Kilmister passed away at the age of 70, just two days after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Lemmy rocked right up until the end having played his last show about two weeks before his death, and although he preferred Motorhead to be labeled as a rock and roll band and not a heavy metal band take a listen to this song and decide how you would classify them.

Hey SDL, not sure about the first 2 songs, but love Motorhead! Guess if I could understand what the first one was saying, I might have a different opinion!

my first concert was Motorhead. 1978, my cousin snuck me in under his coat. at that time they were a nothing band, playing in a bar in maine on a tour. I was 8, I don’t remember much of it. I do remember lemmy being very surprised that I was there

That subtle pride is dangerous! Boasting pride is easy to see – another reason we can’t stand the politicians! But, that religious pride brings down Nations as well as the boasting!

Interesting thought Steve. Good point. I was thinking more inlines of indoctrination of the religious twisting of God’s Word, similarly to the Jews developed their own man-made religion (which didn’t include God!). How can ‘a sinful nature’ correct or purge itself? It can’t.Man’s view of liberalizing God’s Word and meaning corrupts the purity of it, just as you stated, resulting in ‘bringing down a society, which no longer values or knows God. And like Eve, desire to be a god without a capacity of godly character: Love, Truth & Life!

Having been raised Catholic I was told what the Bible said by teachers and nuns but we never had to read it. When you actually read what is in there it puts a whole new perspective on the whole thing!

Yes, I’m familiar with him Lou – thanks for posting this! A few years ago he was covering a Union protest and was punched a couple of times – pretty hard – knocked the wind out of his sails for months. I think he even sued – don’t know how that turned out.
Here he is ‘distributing Halloween Candy’ being PC – see how the kids liked THAT!

A BIG difference from the sickies in the WH. Grant it, Russian, uses it’s people their own way, but at least Putin speaks of ‘values and the importance of family, a secure and proud Nation!’ Not like the stick shill puppet we heard nothing of meaning or of value from to encourage the New Year! BIG DIFFERENCE!

He is not perfect, that is for sure, but Putin takes care of his people (at least from what is visible) and doesn’t bad mouth them like Obama to every Country that will listen to how BAD we are. One would think that Obama is not the President of the United States…..oh wait, he IS? At any rate he is the most sorry excuse for a President that I have ever seen.

Yep, Lou, at least he could ‘act’ like he liked us, but all ‘his acting’ is to puff himself up so he doesn’t look like the ‘stick’ animation that he is.

That is exactly what he is…one would think with all the intelligent minds that have ethics and morals, we get him? Cannot think of better words than “sorry excuse” for this man (term used lightly). Glad you got a laugh out of it…someone needs a bit of cheer when it comes to this Administration.

It would be nice if the rest of the people in the world didn’t associate us (American’s) with those in position of power/leadership! – who represent and serve the evils of the world.

With all the intelligent people in this country that have ethics and morals and love the USA, we get stuck with this man (term used lightly) as our President…somehow there is just something just plain wrong with that picture. Glad you got a chuckle out of it, we get so few laughs when it comes to this Administration other than those head shakes we do when we cannot believe how stupid they are or how gullible some of the American people are, then I laugh, but it is a different kind of laugh.

Oh, for a minute I thought you meant OBAMA, but if I read it correctly after my vision cleared, you meant PUTIN! The only family value Obama has is for photo ops walking to church with his “girls” and the hand holding….I am sorry, but I was a “girl” at one stage of my life and after about 6 or 7, I stopped sitting on the arm of my Pops chair or holding his hand. Well, I will say that is not entirely true, in the later stages of his Parkinsons/Dementia I held his hand/arm, he needed ME at that point and I was glad to be there for him. I just do not see Obama as a “family man” in any sense of the words.
