New national poll shows Bernie Sanders surging, Eric Holder endorses Hillary Clinton
Regular readers of America’s Watchtower know how I feel about national polls; they should not be used to try to predict the outcome of a primary or Presidential election because we do not have a national election (yet) but they can be used to gauge the popularity of candidates within the voting base.
A new national poll has been released which shows us that Bernie Sanders is surging in popularity among Democratic voters nationally, here is more:
48 percent of Democratic primary voters across the country support Mrs. Clinton, while 41 percent back Mr. Sanders, the poll found.
The former Secretary of State still holds a respectable seven point lead over the Senator from Vermont however just one month ago she held a twenty point advantage:
Just a month ago, she led Mr. Sanders by 20 percentage points nationally.
Mr. Sanders’s shifting fortunes underscore the unsettled state of the presidential race in both parties with just three weeks before the Iowa caucuses.
In my post yesterday on the state of the Democratic primary I noted that Hillary Clinton, despite being down in the polls in Iowa and New Hampshire, should still win the race due to the fact that she is still popular in the states which hold their elections after New Hampshire, however there is the possibility that this new poll throws my theory into disarray.
All of the focus has been on Iowa and New Hampshire, we have not really seen any other state polls in quite awhile. This new poll shows us that Hillary Clinton’s popularity may be waning with the Democratic base at just the wrong time for her and if she loses the first two contests I believe we will start to see state polls in South Carolina and the other states next up on the docket which are quite a bit tighter than they were the last time we saw polls from these states.
Meanwhile Hillary Clinton picked up the endorsement of former Attorney General Eric Holder:
Former Attorney General Eric Holder endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination on Wednesday, praising his former administration colleague’s plans to tackle a wide range of issues, from gun violence to college affordability.
“Our next president can’t shy away from building on the progress of President Obama, which is why Hillary Clinton is the candidate that we need in the White House,” Holder said, according to The Associated Press, which first reported the news from the Clinton campaign earlier this morning.
This is not surprising, after all birds of a feather flock together: Eric Holder quite possibly avoided an indictment in the Fast and Furious scandal just when it seemed the walls were closing in around him when Barack Obama sealed the records using Executive Privilege and Hillary Clinton might be facing an indictment by the FBI over her email scandal.
malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
With a little luck, maybe Holder and Hillary can get a cell together. On second thought, no, that would be cruel and unusual punishment for Holder.

That is such a nice dream! Although I do not know who would have it worse if they were cellmates.

Living here in Illinois, I kind of keep up on what is going on! Hillary is being challenged right now for her right to be on the ballot. It seems she needs 3,000 signatures and somehow after going thru the signatures she has fallen short. Must have been alot of invalid signatures. Now, ask me IF Illinois will do the right thing and keep her off the ballot or somehow dig up a bunch of signatures that were in a trunk somewhere? I think we know the answer to that, don’t we?

That is interesting Lou! This has not been reported here at all, and I have not seen this on the internet anywhere! Thanks for that information. It still isn’t too late for her to get on the ballot?

Cannot say I would relish the thought of being in a jail cell with either one of those con-artists, Brit!

What a mess. Hillary flying around the cell on her broom, and Holder putting both of his hands into the toilet bowl to get water to throw at her (“I’m melting!”).

The headline of one of NJ’s predominant news rags The Record which I picked up in my Dr’s office the other day screamed NJ solidly backs Hillary. The sicko sycophant democrat voters in this state with the highest property taxes in the country, visibly decaying infrastructure, no jobs in spite of reports to the contrary, inner city and urban schools, rather than teaching, dedicating most of class time towards preparing students for state mandated testing in order to get more state money for their district etc etc are no different than the ignorant voters in the other blue states. This Sanders horseshit is little more than a tease, an exercise in futility.

Wait a minute, you mean New Jersey isn’t doing wonderfully? I got a totally different feeling from Christie! 😉

Status quo. He’s keeping the democrat dominated state assembly in check but doing nothing to help alleviate our outrageous property taxes, of which 75-80% go toward the liberal incubators…I mean public schools. I could drone on but why bother. And this: after swapping spit with Chaka on the Jersey Shore three years ago some homeowners there are still waiting for FEMA money. The only thing worse than a republican governor would be a democrat governor.

Well at least he is keeping the Democrats in check I guess. I would like to see him go after them more, I keep hearing how he is vetoing tax increases but apparently he does not have a problem with the current level.

Well, Peter, you did not mention that they were “smart”! Think that plays into it?

I dont trust a couple of hundred people interviewed as a real indication where the support lies. The polls have been totally wrong the past couple of elections. That said, I still think Clinton is up to her eyeballs in trouble.

Yeah, the polls can be manipulated and perhaps the polls are now trying to create momentum for Sanders. I think Hillary is in trouble as well, her arrogance might finally be catching up with her.

They can selectively interview, maybe that is the kind of interview it was. I do NOT put any trust in polls, period, good or bad. I trust my gut!

Plus they can ask the questions in a manner which will get them the result they want…

I wish I could agree with you Bunker but the fools I speak with here help me form my pessimistic opinions. From a “white” doctor to a Cuban refugee (1968) whose wholesale meat supply company which he grew from scratch that is going south due to the big nationwide stores selling groceries, they sing Hillary’s praises. Que lastima…

We can only hope they are being stubborn on the outside because they do not want to admit they are wrong and when they go to the polls they will do the right thing in private. But that is probably just a pipe dream.

Plenty of fools out there….bet we all know some of them!

Maybe Bernie isn’t corrupt enough for him to support. I’m sure Hilly has some ‘gifts’ for Holder because of his support.

Judging by how Hillary apparently ran the State Department I am sure she threw something his way…
