Then vs now: Donald Trump on New York values

January 18, 2016

Last week Ted Cruz attacked Donald Trump for having “New York values.” Donald Trump took huge offense to this, stating that it was “insulting” for Ted Cruz to attack him on his previously held liberal positions on most issues. Of course Donald Trump tried to downplay this attack by somehow trying to make the claim that Ted Cruz was talking about September 11th when everybody knows the Senator from Texas was talking about social issues and used this term to reinforce the fact that Donald Trump is a liberal and not a conservative despite what he is currently claiming.

In effect Donald Trump was trying to distance himself from his New York values by changing the argument, but Donald Trump did not always have a problem with his New York values, as can be seen in the following clip from 1999.

As you can see in the video Donald Trump claims he hates abortion but because of his New York values he is pro-choice, and this is exactly what Ted Cruz was talking about despite what Donald Trump would have us believe.

Some people define Libertarian as a social liberal and an economic conservative.

    Just a thought.

A good point and I actually understand what he was trying to say about personally opposing abortion but not forcing your beliefs on others but I thought it was interesting he was talking about New York having a role in his line of thinking. I think it is silly when he tries to tie Cruz’s comment to September 11th.

What bothers me the most is that the MSM is trying to paint “New York Values” as anti Semitic.

I’m Jewish and I’ve been running across real anti Semites all my life. To say I’m sensitive and aggressive on the subject would be an understatement. I understand Cruz’s comment exactly as he said it. Low Information Liberals were dumb enough to vote Bill DiBlasio into office, people in the South look on DiBlasio as another Liberal neo Fascist. That’s a real difference in cultural values.

It is not an anti Semitic idea.

Trump may not be your idea of a great candidate and you might not like Cruz either, but so far as I can tell, neither one of them is anti Semitic.

That is interesting Dr. Jeff, I did not catch the antisemitism angle to any of this. I just took it as Cruz meant it as dd you. I will have to pay closer attention to what they are saying.

The accusations of anti Semitism are coming from the MSM. As far as I can tell, they are desperate to stop Cruz.

Not one of the Republican contenders has done or said anything I’d even remotely consider anti Semitic. As far as the Democrats go, you can know people by their friends. For example, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, two of the biggest anti Semitic and anti White bigots operating in the public arena.

Then again, you can look at Hilary’s position on Israel and the Mid East and draw you own conclusions. Don’t ask what I think of Obama.

And yet it is always the Republicans who face accusations of bigotry by the MSM while they ignore the actually bigotry of the left. It can get maddening at times!
