The White House claims Barack Obama now regrets trying to filibuster Sam Alito
After the sudden and tragic death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia Barack Obama hammered the Republicans who threatened to filibuster the President’s nominee to replace him. Here is more on that story:
After Justice Antonin Scalia died unexpectedly over the weekend, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell quickly stated that the Senate would not consider any nominee in a presidential election year—a stance that even a few of his Republican colleagues believe is a politically dangerous position to take. Speaking at a press conference in California, Obama offered a peek at the kind of political arguments that could rain down on Republican presidential candidates and senators up for reelection if they refuse to vote on his nominee.
“The Constitution is pretty clear about what is supposed to happen now,” Obama said. “When there is a vacancy on the Supreme Court, the president of the United States is to nominate someone. The Senate is to consider that nomination. And either they disapprove of that nominee or that nominee is elevated to the Supreme Court. Historically, this has not been viewed as a question. There’s no unwritten law that says it can only be done on off-years.”
Of course Chuck Schumer did the same thing when he called for blocking any potential George Bush nominee to the Supreme Court in 2007 even though there were no vacancies at the time, but let that go…
Republicans were quick to point out Barack Obama’s hypocrisy after he was one of several Democrats who tried to filibuster George Bush’s Supreme Court nominee Sam Alito back in 2006 when he was in the Senate. Now the White House is claiming that Barack Obama has seen the error of his ways and has had a change of heart, he “regrets” that decision now:
After President Barack Obama scolded Republicans for vowing to block whomever he nominates to fill the vacancy in the Supreme Court caused by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, some Republicans called him out for being a hypocrite because he tried to filibuster Justice Samuel Alito’s nomination in 2006.
Now the White House is saying that the president “regrets” that decision
“That is an approach the president regrets,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said.
Obama and the Democratic senators who joined him in filibustering Alito “should have been in the position where they were making a public case” against the merits of his nomination to the high court instead, Earnest said. “They shouldn’t have looked for a way to just throw sand in the gears of the process,” he added.
Of course he does…
Isn’t it funny now that the shoe is on the other foot Barack Obama has suddenly had a change of heart? Much like Chuck Schumer when called out on his discrepancy, the White House is still saying these two issues are different because the Republicans are doing this for “purely political” reasons, as if Barack Obama’s reasons were not…

Not to worry, the MSM will prop up Chaka, Chuckie Cheese and anyone else on the left who cares to pile on Turkey Neck and the rest of the tentative republicans who will most likely cave when they realize they may lose a “moderate” vote or two. Chalk up another one for the commies.

Yeah, I think they are already backtracking because of the backlash they have heard. They keep forgetting the people that talk them into backtracking are the people they are supposed to be trying to stop..unless they are on the same side.

Yep. Turkey Neck -(Nice) is caving nicely. He has seen the errors of his first response as well. This of course will insure the election of Trump but the Gobbler is too dumb to figure that one out.

I know that even I would have more “guts” to stand up to the left and I am but a little WOMAN…what is wrong with these guys? I have never seen a bigger bunch of Wooses than what is in Congress (save for a few)! They SO do not want to go against what this Administration wants and try to pull it off as they say they tried, they really tried, but just could not do it…MY BUTT! Every day now, I hear different ones starting to give, just a little towards a nomination and to just hear them out. I cannot believe the speech that Obama gave, like he gives 2 sh*ts about the Constitution that he has to adhere to it (just this once)…he is a nasty, evil piece of crap, that is what he is. AND, if the right confirms another SC justice against OUR wishes, AND if Trump gets in, I hope there is hell to pay for this. We already know the caliber of justice Obama wants, just look at Sotomayor and Kagan!

Interesting how the Constitution is OK when it ca possible be used for the illegals (in the Tainted House). I still think they ‘did him in’ and hope to get their own in there so they have clear sailing down the rest of the toilet. Their light thoughts are dark lights!
I pray that those in the ranks can force the tide to a rocky shore – something stable to stand on and well balanced!

Zip, the more that has come out, at least the little we are hearing, protocol doesn’t seem to have been followed. From no security detail to Scalia in fresh pajamas and the bed not the least bit messed up and no apparent crime scene possibility, so no preserving the room for checking…from the rushing him out of there and embalming him immediately to throwing out the drained blood, that is just NOT done. No samples of anything were taken? I cannot believe that a Coroner could not have been flown in (you know all those ranches have the ability to have a chopper land) and the Marshalls should have taken scene control. Maybe that is the “Texas” way of doing things, but shouldn’t a Federal take over of the scene been what should have been done and no one else allowed in for any reason? A sitting Supreme Court Justice and he is treated as if he were a homeless street dweller….make any sense to any of you other than there was alot of corruption going on? I still have to wonder IF his family had been threatened into not having requested an autopsy. This whole thing stinks. Now, I for one would NOT want Obama at any of my relatives funerals, but there are certain things a President has to do, well except for Obama. He can go to many other funerals, but just cannot make it to this one. He WILL however see the BLM crowd, along with Sharpton and his ilk….what a piece of work those OTHER voters put into office TWICE.
Now we have the right starting to back down and once again will give Obama what he wants…they will be so sorry about it and they will have tried, but Harry Reid will, once again, get what he wants…after all, HE is the one running the Senate. I know alot of people question Trump and his possibly not really being a Conservative, but what really IS a Conservative anymore? We are supposed to have those Conservatives in the House and Senate and save for a few, I just see a bunch of Moderates, at best in there and at worst just more Liberals and that is in the Republican party. What should we expect if that is what is there? We will get more of the same if we keep believing their stories when they are up for re-election and we put them right back in to turn around and put the screws to us again. I am fed up with about 90% of them!

Zip and Steve, this is how I see it and I know I cannot be that far off. The media is covering for them and we should flat out boycott anything that has to do with them. I am at a point that I am going to do away with TV cable and watch what programs I want on Netflix and get my info on my blogs I read…I cannot be worse than the crap they are spewing our way on a daily basis. I am tired of them making excuses for why some is or isn’t done and I am tired of all the covering of a President that doesn’t give 2 Sh*ts about any of us….all we are is a “cash cow” for their trips and anything else he and his family want. We have in fact become a collective “Sugar Daddy” for the White House…how does that make you feel? Yes, after our generation most will not think anything is wrong but for a handful of OUR kids that have been listening to us.

Other than watching the Blacklist and Game of Thrones I watch nothing on television, not even the news. I get all my news on the internet by visiting many sites and blogs. I know which ones are liberal and which ones are conservative and then make a decision after reading as much as I can.

The next election is a real make or break proposition. Real simple: Vote your conscience in the primary and Republican in November.

You are so correct, this is what we MUST do, like it or not…at least we will be able to live to fight another day…if we stay home or vote off ticket, we have lost. We have been forced into a corner and we have let it happen.

Maybe we should not blame ALL of it on ourselves, but about 75%. There is only so much we can do, us little people! We put out trust in those we sent/send to Congress and we have bee screwed….go figure!
