Donald Trump taking heat for saying ‘second amendment people’ could find a way to stop Hillary Clinton
Donald Trump is taking heat in the mainstream media for saying that “second amendment people” could possibly find a way to stop Hillary Clinton from appointing judges. Here is what he said:
“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment,” he said as an aside while smiling. “By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day.”
Donald Trump’s campaign is defending the remark by claiming he was talking about motivated second amendment voters heading to the polls to vote against Hillary Clinton en masse while the left is saying he was suggesting somebody should shoot her.
Unless Donald Trump is a Hegelian Dialect change agent (which I am not convinced that he is not) I find it hard to believe he would suggest that one of his supporters kill the opposition candidate, but at the same time it is possible he made a horrible joke about it which he is now trying to back away from.
Even if he was talking about voter motivation his choice of words was not good to say the least. Donald Trump needs to choose his words more carefully and stop speaking off the cuff, and perhaps this means he needs to get some lessons on public speaking, because at this point he should realize he will be under intense scrutiny from a media we learned was in cahoots with Hillary Clinton in the leaked emails. It might not be fair but at this point he needs to realize that it is what it is and he needs to adjust.
Pardon the possible pun but these are self-inflicted wounds…
