New polls show Donald Trump pulling ahead of Hillary Clinton in key swing states
The reports of Donald Trump’s political demise may have been greatly exaggerated. Donald Trump’s campaign has been declared dead several times by the mainstream media, most recently after the billionaire businessman’s attack on a Gold Star family in the wake of the Democratic National Convention. However he always seems to rebound and it looks as if he is rebounding in a big way right now.
It is hard to gauge the polls because depending on which national poll you look at either Donald Trump is leading by 5 points or Hillary Clinton is leading by 5 points. National polls are meaningless compared to the individual state polls and the latest round of swing state polls show Donald Trump surging into the lead.
The latest CNN poll shows Donald Trump ahead in the key states of Ohio and Florida, here is more:
Among likely voters in Ohio, Trump stands at 46% to Clinton’s 41%, with 8% behind Libertarian Gary Johnson and 2% behind Green Party nominee Jill Stein. In Florida, likely voters split 47% for Trump to 44% for Clinton, within the poll’s 3.5 percentage point margin of error, and with 6% behind Johnson and 1% backing Stein.
He has also pulled slightly ahead in Harry Reid’s home state of Nevada:
Trump leads Clinton in the poll, 44 percent to 42 percent, with Libertarian Gary Johnson at 8 percent.
And he has pulled into the lead in Colorado of all places:
A Reuters/Ipsos survey released this week gave Trump a narrow edge in a two-way race, 43 percent to 41 percent — his first lead in Colorado in the 2016 election.
Of course this is not a two-way race but most polls I have seen which include Gary Johnson and/or Jill Stein seem to show a third party candidacy taking votes away from Hillary Clinton. I find this interesting because I thought it would be the other way around. However the media hoopla over Gary Johnson’s Aleppo gaffe is telling in my opinion. Why did the mainstream media focus on a gaffe from a candidate who is only getting 8% of the vote? I think it is because the mainstream media has seen the same polls and want to take him out in order to help Hillary Clinton. Either that or the mainstream media was covering this story in order to avoid talking about Hillary Clinton’s health.
Donald Trump, buoyed by the suddenly mainstream concerns about Hillary Clinton’s health, is surging in the polls in the key swing states and it seems to be at just the right time. There is still plenty of time to go and Donald Trump has a penchant for saying something stupid at the most inopportune times so things could change on a dime. But as of right now Hillary Clinton and her supporters should be very worried.
