Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin reach an agreement on Syrian ceasefire

July 8, 2017

The mainstream media and the left have tried to portray Donald Trump’s European tour as nothing but a disaster–from the fake news that the Polish First Lady snubbed Donald Trump, to CNN reporting breathlessly there would be no talks of Russian hacking during the President’s meeting with Vladimir Putin (somehow this signaled proof of collusion), to one network (MSNBC I believe) claiming because the meeting lasted two hours when the mainstream media thought it would be a quick meeting it meant Vladimir Putin rolled Donald Trump, to a Democratic Representative claiming Donald Trump’s silence about the meeting “tells us everything we need to know“–so you would think that nothing positive came from any of this.

But what the mainstream media and the left are conveniently not commenting on is the news that during their meeting Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin brokered a ceasefire agreement in Syria with the help of Jordan and Israel.

  Here is more:

On Friday, as President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the U.S. State Department confirmed the two sides had reached a ceasefire agreement in Syria. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called it, “the first indication of the U.S. and Russia being able to work together in Syria.”

“We spent a very, very lengthy period on Syria. With a great amount of detail on the agreement, we concluded today but also where we go,” Tillerson said of the meeting between Trump and Putin.

CBS News and the Associated Press report that Jordan and Israel, which border on southern Syria, are also part of the plan. Jordanian Minister of Media Affairs Mohammed Momani announced on Friday that the ceasefire would go into effect at noon local time on Sunday, July 9.

I am not naive so I do not have any illusions about this being a long term ceasefire, if indeed the rebels honor it at all, but as Rex Tillerson said this is a sign despite the rising tensions between the United States and Russia that the two sides can work together and that is a step in the right direction.

When the mainstream media and the left stop their blackout of this news I expect they will claim this is more proof of collusion…

The ceasefire agreement effects a very small area of southwest Syria. The area is boarded on the west by the Golan Height.

“In this zone [in southern Daraa, Quneitra and As-Suwayda provinces] the ceasefire regime will take effect on July 9 starting 12:00 Damascus time,” Lavrov said

This is the area that the FSA and SAA are at a stalemate. This area is also where the IDF has bombed the SAA after the FSA sends them a signal.
