I have been thinking a lot about what a “calling” is. We don’t say it is a “calling” to go have fun, eat a great mean, get together with friends, etc. I think a calling is to do something you don’t want to do, but still feel compelled to do
I have been training to be an Eucharistic Minister in our Catholic Hospital. Today is my first day on my own. I don’t want to see people suffering. I don’t want to bother someone who is tired of being poked and prodded. I don’t want to hear the story of what they have gone through. But we believe communion is the one true gift. We believe nothing brings you closer to God.
The demand for Eucharistic Ministers far exceeds the number of volunteers. If I don’t help, who will?

That is great! I am so happy you have found what God has called you to do and are not ignoring it even though, as you wrote, I am sure there is going to be some tough days dealing with people who are not doing well.

Steve, I just realized you would be the perfect person to talk to about what would help people in the hospital. Can I PM you? How?
