Did the spygate investigation expand to include John Brennan and James Clapper?

October 23, 2019

Quietly, behind the scenes, and with no media coverage there is an investigation going on in Washington. Of course I am not talking about the impeachment investigation because you cannot avoid this even if you try, but rather I am talking about the investigation into the beginning of the Russia investigation and the alleged FISA abuses otherwise known as Spygate.

We learned the other day that this investigation was expanding because “something substantial” was uncovered but we did not know what it was or who the investigation was focusing on. We still do not know much but we are learning, according to this story, that there was new evidence uncovered in Rome and John Durham was “very interested” in interviewing James Clapper and John Brennan in the wake of these revelations. Here is more:

U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the FBI’s 2016 Russia probe has expanded based on new evidence uncovered during a recent trip to Rome with Attorney General Bill Barr, sources told Fox News on Tuesday.

The sources said Durham was “very interested” to question former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan, an anti-Trump critic who recently dismissed the idea.

The two Obama administration officials were at the helm when the unverified and largely discredited Steele dossier, written by British ex-spy Christopher Steele and funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee, was used to justify a secret surveillance warrant against former Trump adviser Carter Page.

In Italy, Barr reportedly told embassy officials he “needed a conference room to meet high-level Italian security agents where he could be sure no one was listening in.”

A source in the Italian Ministry of Justice told The Daily Beast earlier this month that Barr and Durham were played a taped deposition made by Joseph Mifsud, the professor who allegedly told ex-Trump aide George Papadopoulos that the Russians had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. Mifsud reportedly was explaining to authorities in the deposition why people would want to harm him, and why he needed police protection.

Papadopoulos has suggested he was connected with Mifsud as part of a setup orchestrated by intelligence agencies.

That is pretty interesting right there. William Barr went to Italy as part of the investigation and has come up with something which would appear to provide some evidence of an orchestrated effort by the intelligence agencies to take down Donald Trump and now he wants to talk to two high officials in the Obama administration.

Should Barr and Durham fly overseas together? Remember Dag Hamershald and Ron Brown?

By the time Barr gets to it the impeachment will be a done deal.. At least nail some of them and get the thing off the ground.

My fear is that no matter what Barr and Durham uncover in Europe and here the facts no longer matter. We are beyond the point of reason in public discourse and public policy. Law only serves to suppress opposition today.
