Are Democrats getting cold feet on impeachment?
There has always been a concern among impeachment supporters that moderate Democrats and Democrats in red states would pose a problem for the radical Democrats who had decided shortly after Donald Trump was elected that they would impeach him.
Despite showing a united front when voting to go forward with the impeachment inquiry it is now being reported that these moderate and red state Democrats are cooling to the idea of impeaching the President. Here is more:
“I think what we’re starting to see, you know, is when the impeachment inquiry was first announced and they started to do these depositions, a lot of people were asking, ‘Can Nancy Pelosi peel off any Republicans’ in this final impeachment vote. But I increasingly think the question is becoming does [Nancy Pelosi] lose more Democrats? Because Republicans have really unified behind the president, and although two Democrats voted against the impeachment inquiry rules that they voted on a couple of weeks ago, we are hearing behind-the-scenes there are moderates getting cold feet. And it comes back to these ads and people being afraid for being punished for voting to impeach the president.”
Of course they should not be basing their decision to impeach the President on what the polls are saying or for other political reasons, they should be voting based on where the evidence takes them. But of course this whole thing was politically motivated in the first place…
While the media is reporting that polls show the tide turning against impeaching the President, I do not believe the polls really showed the people supported impeachment in the first place. But for the sake of this argument let us say the polls were, and are also now, accurate and a majority of the people who once supported impeaching the President no longer do so because I believe there is an obvious reason for this.
The impeachment inquiry went about as well for Democrats as did the Russia investigation. The Russia investigation was supposed to contain a smoking gun that would be the undoing of Donald Trump’s Presidency but there was nothing there and the same thing happened last week during the impeachment inquiry. People sat there and wondered what exactly the Democrats were hanging their hopes on. In fact I would say the impeachment inquiry was even worse for the Democrats than it was for the President because it exposed them as petty, political hacks who are still pouting because they lost the election.
The problem for the Democrats is they have taken this to the point where they have to hold a vote and if this report is true they could suffer a humiliating defeat they will not be able to come back from.

I agree as well.. my bet is that they will settle for something less.. On another note I see via Fox Michelle may not be out.. I have to say that I have had that in the back of my mind. Axelrod out there bashing Biden didn’t compute for me. I doubt he would do it without the Obama’s blessing.

I think with Patrick and Bloomberg getting in the race so late it shows the Dems are not happy with the crop of candidates. I thought Patrick was Obama’s pick but it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere so you could be right about Michelle.
