Virginia Governor declares State of Emergency and bans guns before second amendment rally
I am somebody who does not feel sorry for the voters of Virginia because I believe they are getting what they deserve for electing radical anti-second amendment people to the legislature but today Governor Northam did something that could have ramifications for all of us somewhere down the line.
Today Governor Northam declared a State of Emergency and banned firearms from Capitol Square before a gun rights rally, here is more:
Fearing a repeat of the deadly violence that engulfed Charlottesville more than two years ago, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam declared a temporary emergency Wednesday banning all weapons, including guns, from Capitol Square ahead of a massive rally planned next week over gun rights.
The governor, a Democrat, announced the plans at a news conference Wednesday afternoon because of credible threats of potential violence and extremism, one official said.
Northam’s announcement comes days after Democratic leaders used a special rules committee to ban guns inside the Capitol and a legislative office building. That ban did not include Capitol grounds, which are under the governor’s control and are where a huge number of gun-rights advocates are expected to rally Monday.
One official said Northam decided to ban all guns from the grounds of Capitol Square after receiving reports for weeks about inflammatory online postings by out-of-state pro-gun and militia groups who are promising to attend Monday’s rally.
The official said the state does not have intelligence that the groups are planning a specific act of violence, but said Northam has grown increasingly concerned about numerous ominous-sounding postings on social media from forces outside Virginia. The official cited one posting that included a photo of an AR-15 and said there are “great sight angles from certain buildings” near Capitol Square.
It looks like the people who are planning on attending this gun rights rally have just seen one of their greatest fears come to fruition.
I have feared something like this happening ever since Donald Trump started to think about declaring a National Emergency to build the border wall after he could not get the Congress to give it to him. I predicted a Democratic President could use this precedent to declare a National Emergency to implement gun control and then Nancy Pelosi admitted this was a possibility.
This might only be on the State level and it might only be temporary but this makes for a good test run for a national event in the future…

Does this mean a governor has the authority to suspend the entire Bill of Rights for specified times and places on a whim?
Thought: we hear about Gabby Gifford’s shooting ad nauseam from the left yet not a whisper about Steve Scalise’s shooting. Hypocrites all.,

Temporarily at least martial law would permit the governor’s actions. Long term would be very different.

A “State of Emergency” may let the governor do this in the short term, but if anyone tries it on a wider or long term scale, it could easily lead to an armed revolt. Considering what is likely to be in the gun safes of Conservatives, that revolt could become very bloody, very fast.
In Conservative circles, there is already some heated discussion about the Virginia situation. Mostly, the people I heard from are exaggerating the governor’s plans, but if he begins to fulfill their worries, whether their ideas are exaggerated or not will be meaningless.
The governor is playing a very dangerous game.

I have been holding tight on this Virginia situation because we don’t know how much of what we are hearing is the truth but this is beginning to make me worry. I also fear if he pushes this too far we may see an ugly situation with blood in the streets. Up until this time I have written off all these people who claim another Civil War is coming but Virginia needs to be watched closely.

Since this is world cabal driven they probably are ‘banking’ on the heightened emotions that lead to violence. There’s only a few key players that are causing the stir, but those are the ones who hide out in the bunkers into it’s all over.

I can’t help but be reminded of corrupt regimes around the world that start to panic when their citizens get fed up and rise up against them. Those regimes typically implement harsh measures in an attempt to quell the uprisings but usually end up getting overthrown anyway…or dead in the street…

It is one thing to rule against the will of a large portion of your population. It is another to obviously fear that portion.
Northam is both antagonizing his direct opposition and also is seemingly fearful of any violence that may arise out of his own aggravating the situation. I equate this to beating a chained dog. You succeed on pissing the dog off and then double the chain so you can feel safe.
Virginia is the bellwether for the second amendment and the nation. With similarly smarmy governors who are anti gun (Andy ‘Ayatollah’ Cuomo comes to mind) waiting to see how this plays out it is time that those of us who do cherish the Second Amendment need to establish a method as to how we are going to assert out rights and get those illegally taken from us by illegitimate restrictions back. Time to go on offense politically. No longer can we sit back and wait for the next legislative battle to come. We need to start pushing for removal of all restrictions.
