Los Angeles Mayor threatens to cut power and electricity to residents who have parties
If you thought the situation in New York was dire–where out-of-staters are being stopped in the airports and on the roadways and asked to show their COVID papers or else face what amounts to a 14 day house arrest order or pay a $10,000 fine–it is not any better in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has a message, or should I say a warning, for the subjects of his city. If you dare to throw a party be prepared to have your electricity and water shut off. Here is more:
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on Wednesday announced the city was taking action against those who throw large parties.
He called recent gatherings of mostly young people in the Hollywood Hills and Calabasas “flagrant violations of health orders.”
“While we have already closed all bars and nightclubs, these large house parties have essentially become nightclubs,” said the mayor. He then indicated he would hold them to similar scrutiny. “The same thing we would do with businesses,” said Garcetti.
If the LAPD responds to repeated complaints and verifies that there have been violations at a home, the city will within 48 hours have the DWP shut off service at that home. Garcetti also indicated that county health inspectors and other city representatives would be on the lookout for violations.
This has nothing to do with keeping the people safe anymore, if it ever did, this is about an unabashed display of power. At least the Romans let its subjects keep their circuses to keep their minds off of the boot stamping on their heads. The subjects of Los Angeles are not being afforded that luxury as those who are drunk with power want everybody to see what they can and will do to those who dare oppose a royal decree.
I would like to know what happened to all of those leftists who were afraid Donald Trump was going to be a dictator now that we are seeing actually authoritarian measures slowly being put into place.
malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
Lucky them… They have the 9th circuit to uphold his edict… reap what you sow.

Yeah, it’s hard to feel sorry for them because these are the type of people they voted for.

You are right Steve, it is a power play. History shows that crisis has always been used to take power “for the safety of the people”. The obvious is Hitler, but WWI was used by the Communists to overthrow the government. Mao used “the suffering” to to come to power. Roosevelt used the Great Depression to implement endless bureaucratic department and tried to pack the Supreme Government to get his way.

Great examples Bruce, it is an old playbook and it works well. I still remember Rahm Emanuel telling Obama to never let a good crisis go to waste…

My husbands side of the family has relative out in California, they are very liberal. They do not mind paying extra to support whatever the Governors and Mayors want to do. I have to wonder if they will be so willing to do this when they start having their power and water turned off!!!!
Last time I checked we still lived in a free Country, but they are whittling it down one issue after another with who they are voting into office. The sad thing is, these people TELL them what they are going to do if they are voted in and still they do it. It comes to mind AOC and her squad, I know that 3 out of the 4 of them have won for re-election on their tickets…is no one paying attention to the corruption they have against them? Or are they just overlooking it at all costs? If this was a Republican, they would be run out of office. But since we have a double standard working, this is acceptable! I am getting to the point that people I know that are Democrats I just have nothing to say to them. If I get started, I am afraid I will let them know what I really think and guess I just do not want to have to do that. I have to wonder how they can be that naive, is it the msm and talking heads that pound this into them day after day? I just do not know. I am not the smartest person around, I will admit to that, but I sure as heck will look into something that smells bad and this SMELLS very bad….guess they have been brainwashed.
