Donald Trump to use Executive Order to suspend payroll tax and more
As the aristocracy in Washington continues to bog itself down by playing politics with the COVID-19 stimulus bill–a bill designed to help Americans struggling due to the crisis they created in the first place–Donald Trump has vowed to take Executive Action and it could happen next week. This action would include suspending the payroll tax, extending unemployment benefits, and more.
Here is more:
President Trump said Friday he would defer the payroll tax until the end of the year, using an executive order.
The president also said he would extend unemployment benefits, defer student loan payments and interest, and extend the eviction moratorium as well as an order requiring health insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions.
“If Democrats continue to hold this critical relief hostage, I will act under my authority as president to get Americans the relief they need,” he said.
The president said that the lawyers were drawing up the executive orders and that they could be signed by the end of the week.
Asked whether he was concerned about the legality of his executive order, Trump replied, “No, not at all. You always get sued, everything you do you get sued … we’ll see.”
The president also declined to specify whether or not he would extend federal unemployment benefit checks at the full $600 a week.
I have said it before and I will say it again, the best way to help struggling Americans is to open the economy back up! It is simple really, let Americans go back to work, let them earn a living, let them go out and spend their money on the weekends. Let businesses return, let the entertainment and sports industries flourish, let people get back to their lives. That is all we really want.
But that is not going to happen because these governors have decided they really like all this power they have usurped and they have no intention of letting it go any time soon. So with the Governors refusing to open up the economy we look to the aristocracy in Washington, but because they are trying to help themselves first–they are all concerned with making sure the other side does not get any credit for helping the American people, rather than actually helping the American people–Donald Trump is taking action but his action is using Executive Order to bypass the Congress to create and change tax law.
Does anybody else fear the precedent of letting a President change tax law? I know it scares the hell out of me! I do not see how this will be deemed Constitutional and we know the challenges are coming. Donald Trump knows they are coming as well and he said he is not afraid of that possibility.
However, that could be part of his plan. This is an election year and it could be that Donald Trump wants to get it on record that the Democrats sued him to stop him from getting relief to the American people after they failed to get relief to the American people. And if his Executive Order stands it will be a win for him, although I fear we will rue the day we put tax policy in the hands of a President.
malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
Should we fear the executive branch usurping tax law? We’ve had the judiciary legislating from the bench for years, we’ve had republicans bending over for almost 60 years as the Democrats have fundamentally changed our republic into a quasi-welfare state. Should Trump win in November the left will also have “four more years” to work on their ultimate plan to destroy what will be laid at their feet when they win in 2024. Let’s go for it Mr President and live for today!

All good points Peter! I guess I have already written 2020 off and I am afraid of what the Democrats are going to do with EO once they take over in January. I think gun control will be first on the EO agenda.

I know it’s not looking good but please let’s not even repeat the thought that the Dems will take over the EO…perish the thought…and perish America.

Do not like to hear that from you, Steve. I know things look bleak, but we have kids and grandkids to fight for.
The left has always been sleazy and underhanded, this is just ramped up a notch. They know what they are doing and we know what they are doing and they know we know what they are doing….we have probably the biggest fighter in office right now and thank God we do! If not for him winning we would already be in the throws of decline. Everything that is going on right now from the virus over-reaction to riots and protests has been in their masterplan for some time, I think. The President knows he has to get a handle on this mail-in-vote or we will lose. I do not want to think about that happening…then we lose free speech and our right to bear arms…after that it will not matter what else they take from us, we will not be able to fight back. Having faith is what we have to cling to, President Trump needs to know we are backing him. I cannot imagine if McCain had been in that office or Romney, they would have caved from the get go….what we have is worth supporting and keeping the faith!
