Democrats introduce bill to ban ‘high capacity’ magazines
It looks like the Democrats are beginning their gun control push. According to this story they are going to begin with a bill that will ban “high capacity” magazines. The first question which comes to mind is what do the Democrats consider to be a “high capacity” magazine?
Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL) are pushing legislation to ban the sale and possession of ammunition magazines holding more than ten rounds.
A press release on the legislation indicates it would also ban the importation and manufacture of said magazines and authorize “a buyback program for high capacity magazines using Byrne JAG grants.”
As many gun enthusiasts know most handguns, with the exception of revolvers and sub-compact and compact weapons, come with more than a 10 round magazine as a standard. This would basically make most handguns illegal. A ten round magazine is certainly not a “high capacity” magazine but this is what the Democrats do, they change the language by altering definitions over time until they have perfected the narrative.
Here is what one Democrat Tweeted earlier today:
High-capacity magazines aren’t used for sport or self-defense. They’re used in mass shootings b/c they maximize human casualties.
Again, you must remember what the definition of “high capacity” is according to this legislation and yes many of the weapons people carry for self defense will be outlawed under this draconian piece of legislation.
Standard capacity. And truth be told, progressives should go ahead and ban coat hangers if they are really interested in saving lives. This has nothing to do with safety. It has everything to do with power. You cannot ‘buy back’ that which was not yours in the first place. Again, the simple answer is no.

You nailed it, this is all about power and it is coming from a person who is hiding behind barbed wire in the White House.

Can we make it to 2022? First chance at a slow down of this juggernaut.

We have to hope we can hang on but I don’t think we can…

That’s what they tried in California. Let them have it, especially the ban/buyback scheme. It will get stopped in court.
Here’s a link to the injunction that will stop it. Atty Genl Beccera tried to appeal the decision and got slapped down by the 9th Circuit Court. The injunction stands untouched.
The opinion itself is a masterpiece of clear unambiguous language, with a lot of historic facts and references to prior cases, all supporting the 2nd Amendment as we (us here) understand it – “…shall NOT be infringed”. Good stuff for debating the next anti gun ignoramus you meet.

Thanks for that information! I don’t trust the courts to do the right thing anymore but it looks like there is hope here with this precedent.
