Afterburner with Bill Whittle: Not One of Us
Here is the latest Afterburner with Bill Whittle entitled ‘Not One of Us.’ Mr. Whittle pulls no punches with this one but we would expect nothing less. However, I do disagree with one point he makes; Bowe Berdahl should have been returned to America–eventually–where he should face a court martial for his alleged actions. Whether you like it or not Bowe Berdahl is a United States citizen and he deserves a trial, if he is found guilty than he deserves everything he gets.

The IRS threw Lois Lerner’s hard drive away
Earlier this week Darrell Issa issued a subpoena for Lois Lerner’s hard drive after it was learned that her emails related to the targeting scandal were supposedly lost in a computer crash.
When I read this story I began a post that I never published in which I jokingly and sarcastically predicted what the IRS’s response to the subpoena would be but I never published it. In that post I wrote the IRS would tell the Congress something like this: “oh, no, you misunderstood us, when we said the computer crashed we meant it crashed from the 17th story down to the pavement below and was in a million little pieces.”
Now I wish I published that post because that is kind of what the IRS is claiming. The IRS is now claiming they cannot produce the hard drive because it has been recycled, or destroyed if you will. Not quite what I was going to predict but close enough when you think about it–the end result is the same.
The White House claims it has no emails from Lois Lerner
As you all know by now the IRS is claiming that all of Lois Lerner’s inter-agency emails related to the targeting scandal were conveniently lost when her computer crashed.
In the wake of this news the White House is claiming that it scoured all of its emails and found no communications from Lois Lerner during the time frame in question.

In my opinion this showed the New Hampshire voters that Scott Brown, knowing he is the front-runner and likely to be the target of both opponents during the debate, decided he would be better off avoiding the conflict altogether rather than trying to appeal to the voters he is going to need in the general election. It was the cowardly way out in my opinion.
He was running his campaign as if he already won the primary and I think this was an unwise decision because the independent voters are already leery of Scott Brown and this only added to their angst with the candidate.
Since this story first broke both Bob Smith and Jim Rubens have been hammering Scott Brown for this decision, so much for avoiding the arrows I guess. And he must have been feeling the heat because today we have learned he has finally agreed to four debates before the primary.
This was the right decision, it is just too bad he had to be dragged into the debates kicking and screaming. Of course it is no wonder why Scott Brown felt he could avoid the debates for he has the big money backers in Washington DC behind him and this is probably going to be too much for his opponents to overcome, but then again we saw what happened to Eric Cantor when he took the voters for granted. Perhaps this played into his decision in the end.
Hillary Clinton says gun rights advocates ‘terrorize’ the majority of the American people
During a Town Hall meeting which was televised on CNN Hillary Clinton was asked about gun control by one of the audience members (who at one point in the exchange referred to the now debunked 74 school shootings claim) and during her answer she had this to say:
“We cannot let a minority of people – and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people – hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people,”
Notice she said “hold a viewpoint” because she was referring to gun rights advocates in general and not about the people who have actually committed these horrific crimes. If you support the second amendment of the Constitution then you are in the minority and have just been branded to be on par with terrorists according to our would-be next president.
And how about the government having the authority to determine what viewpoints a person can have and which ones are unacceptable? Sounds a little bit like the Thought Police to me…..
The United States captures Benghazi suspect
Before I get to the meat of this post let me state that I am happy the United States has captured one of the suspects in the Benghazi terrorist attack which left Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, and Tyrone Woods dead and I am happy he will be brought to justice if he is convicted.
Barack Obama’s recent foreign policy victories have all blown up in his face; right or wrong, the Bowe Bergdahl deal did not pan out the way the president hoped it would and his refusal to sign a status of forces agreement in Iraq is partially responsible for the current violence. We can also add the Russia reset to this list. Now there are questions surrounding the capture of Ahmed Abu Khattala.
Just when you thought the IRS couldn’t get any more ridiculous then when the agency claimed a computer crash wiped out all of Lois Lerner’s emails to other governmental agencies and the White House which were related to the targeting scandal the corruption riddled agency one-ups itself.
The IRS is now claiming that more computer crashes caused the lost of pertinent emails from six other employees who also just happened to have been allegedly involved in the scandal.

Scott Brown refuses to debate his primary opponents
Back in April the Republicans vying to win the nomination to take on Jeanne Shaheen in the November election held their first debate. Well, not all of them…..Scott Brown apparently had better things to do so he was not there.
Tomorrow night there will be another debate and Scott Brown will not be attending that one either, and he has yet to confirm he will be at the July and August debates. In fact, he is the only Republican who hasn’t confirmed these dates–all Republicans running for the Senate, House, and for the Governor’s seat will be debating at various times.
After months of stonewalling the IRS targeting investigation the IRS promised to turn over all of Lois Lerner’s emails only to claim last week the agency just learned the emails were lost in a computer crash. This excuse is so laughable that even CNN is openly mocking this claim.
Even if we give the IRS the benefit of the doubt and concede the emails were actually lost in a computer crash in 2011 it takes–to paraphrase Hillary Clinton–the willing suspension of disbelief to think that the IRS did not know this at the time they promised to turn the emails over. It seems like yet another delaying tactic to me.
In response to this claim Darrell Issa has issued a subpoena to IRS Commissioner John Koskinen to testify on the “lost” emails.
You may remember that because the Obamacare website was not fully functional, despite claims to the contrary, the Federal government allowed the insurance companies to estimate how much in subsidies they were owed by the Federal government.
Well now that could be coming back to bite hundreds of thousands of enrollees who may be receiving more government assistance than is due them according to this article.
The Obama administration is contacting hundreds of thousands of people with subsidized health insurance to resolve questions about their eligibility, as consumer advocates express concern that many will be required to repay some or all of the subsidies.
Of the eight million people who signed up for private health plans through insurance exchanges under the new health care law, two million reported personal information that differed from data in government records, according to federal officials and Serco, the company hired to resolve such inconsistencies.
The government is asking consumers for additional documents to verify their income, citizenship, immigration status and Social Securitynumbers, as well as any health coverage that they may have from employers. People who do not provide the information risk losing their subsidized coverage and may have to repay subsidies next April.
Since June 1, the government has notified hundreds of thousands of people that “the information in your application doesn’t match what we found in other records.” Accordingly, the notice says, “you need to follow up as soon as possible and provide more documents to make sure the marketplace has the correct information.”
“If you don’t send the needed documents,” it says, “you risk losing your marketplace coverage or help you may be receiving to pay for such coverage.”
As you can see many people are being asked to send in more documentation, but in many cases these people have already sent in the additional documents and are being asked to do it again because the website still isn’t functioning as well as the Obama regime would have us believe.
