Omnibus spending bill passed by the Congress cuts funding for jailing illegal immigrants
Nancy Pelosi was recently quoted as saying the cupboard is bare, there is nothing left to cut. But she apparently spoke a little prematurely because Paul Ryan and Patty Murray found something which they thought was out of control–veteran, including disabled veterans, pensions–and they decided to cut them.
When the Senate had the chance to right the wrong inflicted upon our military heroes by the House by replacing the pension cuts with a tax loophole closure used by illegal aliens the Democrats sided with the illegals over the veterans. (Twice, by the way.)
Now the Congress has passed a massive omnibus spending bill and they have found something else to cut and it once again revolves around illegal aliens. You guessed it, it is not closing the tax loophole and it does not involve cutting any benefits illegal aliens might be receiving.
Today a Federal Appeals Court ruled that bloggers do indeed have protection under the First Amendment of the Constitution:
A federal appeals court ruled Friday that bloggers and the public have the same First Amendment protections as journalists when sued for defamation: If the issue is of public concern, plaintiffs have to prove negligence to win damages.
Here is what Gregg Leslie of the Reporters Committee for the Freedom of the Press had to say about this decision:
“It’s not a special right to the news media,” he said. “So it’s a good thing for bloggers and citizen journalists and others.
He is spot on and of course he is right about the First Amendment. Naturally bloggers should be protected under the First Amendment for the first amendment applies to everyone, the Federal government should not be able to pick and chose who has rights and who does not.
New Hampshire’s duck killing State Representative pays fine and faces no drunk driving charges
Last month New Hampshire Democratic State Representative David Campbell pulled into the parking lot of a hotel in Nashua and ran over several ducks without ever slowing down, astounding onlookers who just happened to be feeding the ducks at the time.
When confronted by one of the witnesses, who noticed the official state plates on the vehicle, David Campbell became belligerent and the police had to be called to the scene. Mister Campbell has since apologized and has paid a small fine but no drunk driving charges are forthcoming and that is where the story gets even more interesting because it seems as if alcohol might have been involved.
Here is part of what happened at the scene:
Murphy told police that after the driver hit the ducks, the driver — later identified as Campbell — exited the vehicle, appeared intoxicated and said, “The ducks should have moved out of the way,” according to the police report. Murphy told Campbell that he was going to call the police, and Campbell reportedly told him, “You’ll ruin my life,” said the report
MSNBC blames Chris Stevens for his own death in Benghazi
I read about this story over at Bunkerville, please head over there for more. Is it any wonder why many of us feel the mainstream media in general, and MSNC in particular, to be nothing more than the fourth branch of the Federal government–the propaganda arm of an out of control government?
MSNBC host Katty Kay actually blamed Chris Stevens for his own death in Benghazi:
On today’s Morning Joe, the BBC’s Kay called the newly-released Senate report on the Benghazi attack “sad” because it showed that Stevens was “fallible.” Kay claimed that “he didn’t ask for and even rejected some of the security he might have had.”
Democrats are beginning to run from Obamacare in new campaign ads
Last month New Hampshire Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen was hit with a blistering new ad, which will eventually be customized in the various states which harbor Obamacare supporting Democrats, for her unwavering support of Obamacare and her repeating of Barack Obama’s if you like your plan you can keep it lie. The best line in this ad was the last line: If you like your Senator you can keep her, if you don’t you know what to do.
Now some Democrats are looking to counter this attack by expressing their sudden opposition to Obamacare; a Democratic Super Pac is now running an ad hoping to help Arizona Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick, and we can assume that some versions of this ad will also appear to help aid other vulnerable Obamacare supporting Democrats:
During the height of Chris Christie’s Bridgegate scandal CNN reported about the possibility of a burgeoning second scandal about to engulf the governor of New Jersey. CNN reported that the Federal government was investigating Chris Christie about the possible misuse of $25 million in Hurricane sandy funds:
“CNN has learned exclusively that a federal investigation will be launched into why money meant for Hurricane Sandy relief was used in a marketing campaign involving Christie’s family,”
There is just one small problem with this story…..it isn’t quite true. It is true there was an audit but it turns out it was just a routine audit and nothing came from it. The agency conducting the audit released this statement:
The EPA stripped an entire town from the United States and handed it over to the Indians
This story seems too surreal to be true and I hope that it is not, but if it is true the EPA has declared the city of Riverton, Wyoming to be the property of the Wind River Indian tribes and no longer part of the United States. The residents of the town have been told that if they still want to receive Federal or State benefits and monies they must relocate to the United States. When I first saw this headline I expected the story to be from InfoWars, Prison Planet, or some other conspiracy website, but it is not:
The EPA declared that Riverton was part of the Wind River Indian Reservation after granting a “Treatment as a State” application from the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone tribes.
How the EPA has the type of power to override the Congress, which granted the land to Wyoming in 1905, is beyond me but apparently the rogue agency used the Clean Air Act to do so:
The tribes submit such applications to get funding for air quality monitoring under the Clean Air Act. However, this seemingly innocuous application ended up undoing the tribal boundaries set by a 1905 congressional act.
The EPA granted the tribes’ claim that the Wind River reservation extended over one million acres of land beyond what the 1905 Congressional Act established. By doing this, the agency effectively overruled an act of Congress, state officials charge.
In effect 10,000 United States citizens are no longer United States citizens if they decide to stay on their own property, in some cases property that has been in the family for years. Somehow I think the Federal government will still expect these people to pay their taxes even though the will not be eligible for any of the benefits.
Is any more proof needed that the Federal government is out of control? If this story is true there is literally nothing the Federal government cannot do to us based on a whim or an agenda.
While the latest polls show support for cap and trade at an all time low and global warming skepticism climbing higher and higher the Federal government appears to be doubling down before all support is lost. The EPA is readying new cap and trade regulations in order to pass Barack Obama’s cap and trade policy without the help of the Congress, but not to be outdone Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is also planning a global warming initiative.
A new proposal on climate change focuses on public health, energy, transportation and basic infrastructure.
Under the plan unveiled Tuesday, $40 million will go to help cities and towns in Massachusetts shore up the power supply and keep the lights on.
Ten million will be earmarked for the coast, to protect it from rising sea levels.
He is even planning to hire a new climatology czar at $100,000 a year–what are the chances this position will be awarded to a crony?
