Many on the left like to claim that the Constitution is a living document which must change with the times. They like to use the words of Thomas Jefferson in their attempt to convince the right that this is the case by quoting words he wrote in a letter to James Madison that “I am increasingly persuaded that the earth belongs exclusively to the living and that one generation has no more right to bind another to it’s laws and judgments than one independent nation has the right to command another.”
And in a sense they are right but what they either neglect to mention, or are ignorant of, is the fact that the Founders provided the proper means within the Constitution to alter the Founding Document if the people thought it was time for a change, and that measure is called the amendment process, not the judiciary, and that is where the left errs in their argument. The Constitution can be considered a living document only in the fact that the Founders created a means within which the document can be changed, the problem is the manner in which the left seeks to change the document.
As part of the effort to turn the Constitution into a living document many on the left have tried to use the age of the document against itself by claiming that because the Constitution is over 200 years old there are parts of the Constitution that are no longer valid, relevant, or necessary in today’s world.

As it turns out Independence Day 2013 was a very productive and exciting day for the New Federalist Party for that was the day we finally finished and published the entire platform for public view.
Although we did not plan it this way, we much rather would have finished the platform awhile ago, I think it is “altogether fitting and proper” that we released in on the birthday of the country. In the end it was more important that we got this document correct than it was to get it done quickly, all good things are worth waiting for.
I am extremely proud of this document and the people who crafted it and at this time I would like to thank everyone who had a hand in crafting, debating, creating, and editing this fine document. Countless hours were put into it and I think the hard work has finally paid off.
Here is the link to the platform; it can be viewed, downloaded, and printed for perusal at your leisure, (and by leisure I mean immediately because we do not have much time to waste if we are to have an impact on the 2014 election) please keep in mind that while this is currently the party platform it is not final because it must be voted on and can be amended by the state delegates to the convention.
This is where you all come into the equation: In addition to seeking donations to get the New Federalist Party off the ground we are also seeking delegates to represent all 57, I mean 50, states in the Union. Even though there were rumors from the beginning that the Egyptian rebels were linked to al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton decided to back these rebels by demanding that Egyptian president Hosni Mubarek step down.
Hosni Mubarek eventually fled for his life and he was replaced by Mohamed Morsi. Morsi was Barack Obama’s guy and even as he began to implement Islamic law Barack Obama continued to support him. But the Egyptian people and the Egyptian military decided to reject this form of Sharia law and two days ago the military led a successful coup against the duly elected president of Egypt, rejecting Barack Obama’s policy in the country.
Benghazi: Where is Col. George Bristol?
That is the question that some Republicans who are investigating the Obama regime over the Benghazi terrorist attack would like an answer to, but according to this story the Pentagon is not saying.
Marine Corps Col. George Bristol was in a key position in the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) chain of command the night of the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. As such, he’s high on the list of people that some Republican members of Congress want to interview. But they don’t know where he is and the Pentagon isn’t telling.
Pentagon spokesman Major Robert Firman told CBS News that the Department of Defense “cannot compel retired members to testify before Congress.”
Because he abruptly retired he cannot be compelled to testify, isn’t that convenient for the Obama regime? This is eerily similar to the case of General Petraeus, who resigned after his adulterous affair was uncovered by the Federal Government through his personal email correspondence. (NSA spying program anyone?)
In my opinion the Federal Government thought they had disposed of General Petraeus but in the end he did the right thing and testified although he did not have to. It looks like the government is using the same tactic here and it makes you wonder what they have on him in order to keep him silent.
If I were George Bristol I would watch my back because, as Rolling Stone reporter Michael Hastings could tell you if he were still alive, people have a nasty habit of getting dead around Barack Obama.
Happy Independence Day 2013
“And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.”
Those were more than just words, for when the founders affixed their names under those words they did exactly what those words said; they pledged their lives, fortunes, and honor towards the founding of a new nation and a cause that they believed so firmly in that they were willing to die for it.
Independence was officially approved on July 2nd but it wasn’t until July 4th that the final version of the Declaration was voted on and passed with these famous words: “We, therefore, the representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name, and by the authority of the good people of these colonies, solemnly publish and declare, that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be free and independent states; that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the state of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as free and independent states, they have full power to levey war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right do.”
But independence was not yet won.
There would be many years of conflict to follow, there would be more defeats than victories before the war ended, but in the end victory was achieved and a new nation was born.
The war had been raging on for over a year when the Declaration was signed, but up until July 4th 1776 America was in a war which was being fought to reestablish her natural born rights as Englishmen, it was not a war for independence. This document changed that and henceforth this was a war of separation.
While people such as Samuel Adams were clamoring for independence, and while George Washington secretly hoped that America would declare its independence as he was leading the Continental Army against the British, it was a pamphlet called “Common Sense” which was written by Thomas Paine that finally convinced many of the founders and citizens of America that independence was not only justifiable, but was also proper.
Thomas Paine was the first person to actually set down in words the reasoning for American independence, and why it was a noble and worthy cause; and he is credited as the first person to actually brand this nation the “United States of America.”
When the founders signed this document they became traitors to the Crown and if captured they would have been hanged as such– losing all three pledges they had sworn to each other. They all understood this and were willing to pay the price as Benjamin Franklin famously quipped, “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”
While they never had to pay the ultimate price for the freedom they have given us–an estimated 25,000 men did, fighting for the cause they believed in–many of them did end up bankrupt or near bankrupt and in debt. So when they pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor there was no turning back. Many of them may have lost their fortunes, but they never lost their honor.
Now it was up to the Continental Army to deliver us the freedom the Declaration rightfully claimed belonged to Americans. The battle went on for many years and it wasn’t until October 19th in 1781 at Yorktown that General Lord Cornwallis surrendered his army to General Washington by sending his second in command to surrender his sword instead of doing it himself as was considered proper in the day–a slight that George Washington was offended by and never forgave–that hostilities ended and a year later the Treaty of Paris was signed and independence was official.
But none of those events would have happened if it wasn’t for the Declaration that was signed on this day in 1776 and so today we celebrate the birth of the greatest nation in the history of the world. ”It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.”
I hope that everyone enjoys their Fourth of July. Let the fireworks and the grilling begin! Please take a little time during this Fourth of July holiday to think about the men and women who are serving this country today– as well as all of those in the past– who have dedicated their lives to ensure that the vision of our founders remains intact and that a ”government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Obamacare: Can Barack Obama postpone the healthcare mandate without going to the Congress first?
I guess the answer to that question is yes because that is exactly what the Treasury Department did yesterday, but does he actually have the authority to do so? At least one Congressman, Steve King, does not think the Treasury Department (probably acting on the behest of the president) can do this without Congressional approval.
Here is what he had to say:
“If President Obama wants to make changes to ObamaCare, he must come to Congress,” Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said on Wednesday.
“Two years ago, the Obama Administration, through a memo from a Homeland Security Department bureaucrat, declared it would not enforce our nation’s immigration laws. Now the Obama Administration, through a blog post by an Assistant Secretary in the Treasury Department, is declaring it won’t even enforce its own health care law on employers.
“We live in a Constitutional Republic. We are a nation governed by laws written by Congress, not memos and blog posts written by bureaucrats,” King said.
Earlier today Michelle Obama compared her life in the White House to being in prison:
There are some prison elements to it,” she joked. “But it’s a really nice prison
You can’t complain,” Michelle Obama admitted. “But there is definitely elements that are confining
Oh, woe is her! Life must be difficult on her as she parades around the globe on numerous taxpayer funded vacations. Of course this isn’t surprising coming from the woman who claimed she was never proud of her country during her adult life until her husband became a legitimate presidential candidate.
I guess this explains her need to take all these vacations, she sees it as a sort of work release program.
The Treasury Department has just announced that it is delaying the implementation of the employer healthcare mandate until 2015, claiming more time is needed to insure the mandate is instituted effectively.
We have heard concerns about the complexity of the requirements and the need for more time to implement them effectively,” Mark Mazur, Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy, wrote in a late Tuesday blog post. “We recognize that the vast majority of businesses that will need to do this reporting already provide health insurance to their workers, and we want to make sure it is easy for others to do so
With a huge increase in healthcare coverage expected many companies were going to have to choose between providing mandated healthcare coverage or paying a relatively small fine–when compared with the cost of healthcare insurance–and now that decision was made easier for these companies with the news there will be no penalty for not providing healthcare coverage.
Of course I am opposed to the mandates but the problem here is the fact that while the mandate has been delayed for employers individuals will still be fined if their employers drop healthcare coverage and they cannot afford to pick it up on their own.
While Barack Obama likes to fashion himself as a middle class warrior it seems as if the regime has bowed to the will of big business (at least before the midterm elections) while leaving the American people on the hook once again.
The man who is credited with authoring Obamacare, Max Baucus, has gone on record as stating he fears the implementation of the legislation will be a train wreck and it appears as if his prophesy is coming true right before our eyes.
Barack Obama claims the planet will “boil over” if Africans raise their standard of living
While speaking at a town hall meeting in Africa over the weekend Barack Obama told the crowd that if the African people raise their standard of living the planet is doomed:
“Ultimately, if you think about all the youth that everybody has mentioned here in Africa, if everybody is raising living standards to the point where everybody has got a car and everybody has got air conditioning, and everybody has got a big house, well, the planet will boil over — unless we find new ways of producing energy”
The left and Barack Obama were fond of calling President Bush a fear monger and yet what is Barack Obama’s statement to the African people on global warming if it is not fear mongering?
