Open thread for Sunday September 30: The Last day of Summer edition
Here is the open thread for Sunday, September 30th; please feel free to post links to any interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the day.
Well, the weather in New Hampshire has certainly changed over the last couple of weeks and there is no denying the fact that the Summer is over.
In the year 2000 The Cure released “Bloodflowers’ which was their follow up CD to the disappointing “Wild Mood Swings’ CD from 1996. While ‘Wild Mood Swings’ had a few terrific tracks on it the CD as a whole was forgettable. “Bloodflowers’ remains an underrated album from The Cure but from beginning to end it is a terrific CD which deserves more accolades than it receives.
In keeping with the end of Summer theme I give you “The Last Day of Summer’ by The Cure from the aforementioned ‘Bloodflowers’ CD.
Enjoy and have a great day.
Gunrunner: House Republicans threaten to subpoena White House aide Kevin O’Reilly
When Barack Obama used Executive Privilege to seal the Fast and Furious documents which might show a link between Barack Obama, Eric Holder and the deadly operation the investigation abruptly came to a halt and is effectively dead in the water pending a judicial order to unseal the documents.
But there is still one potential avenue that might soon be open for investigation and the avenue is named Kevin O’Reilly.
Kevin O’Reilly was a National Security adviser and is one of three White House aides who were receiving updates about Operation Fast and Furious and his testimony may shed some light on what Barack Obama and Eric Holder knew and when they knew it. But to this point he has been unwilling to testify. It requires the willing suspension of disbelief to think that three people who served directly under Barack Obama in the White House were receiving updates about Fast and Furious and not one of them felt the issue was important enough to even mention it to the president.
Intelligence office tries to take the fall for Barack Obama’s lie about the attack on the US consulate in Libya
Today the Intelligence Department made a gallant effort at absolving Barack Obama from any guilt in continually lying about the terrorist attack on the United States consulate in Libya on the anniversary of September 11th.
Extremists from groups linked to al Qaida struck the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in a “deliberate and organized terrorist attack,” the top U.S. intelligence agency said Friday, as it took responsibility for the Obama administration’s initial claims that the deadly assault grew from a spontaneous protest against an anti-Islam video.
The unusual statement from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence appeared to have two goals: updating the public on the latest findings of the investigation into the assault, and shielding the White House from a political backlash over its original accounts.
“In the immediate aftermath (of the assault), there was information that led us to assess that the attack began spontaneously following protests earlier that day at our embassy in Cairo,” spokesman Sean Turner said in the statement. “We provided that initial assessment to executive branch officials and members of Congress, who used that information to discuss the attack publicly.”
Okay, for the sake of this post we’ll give the agency the benefit of the doubt and concede the point that this agency provided Barack Obama with the false narrative he continues to push to this day.
The agency admits it was responsible for the Obama regime’s initial claim that the attack was a spontaneous reaction to a You Tube video, but we know that the regime had credible information within 24 hours that this attack was a planned terrorist attack yet Barack Obama continued to go with the agency’s initial report even after it was known the report was not accurate. He had two conflicting reports; one was the initial report and the other was the revised report but he decided he liked the initial report better because he felt it made him look better.
When Barack Obama addressed the United Nations two weeks after the attack he had a clear choice to make: he could either stick with the initial, inaccurate report or he could stand in front of the world and condemn the terrorist attack on the United States. He chose the former knowing full well it was not accurate and decided to blame an American for the attack.
The Intelligence office can take the blame for providing Barack Obama with false information but they cannot take the blame for his decision to keep using the report after he–and everyone else–knew the report was wrong. The blame for this decision falls solely on the shoulders of Barack Obama.
Video: Jack Tapper reports on Barack Obama’s lies about the attack on the US consulate in Libya
Even as Barack Obama spoke in front of the United Nations and blamed a You Tube video for the attack on the US consulate in Libya the story continued to unravel. So much so that even the lapdogs in the mainstream media are beginning to have trouble defending Barack Obama’s asinine claim that the attack was a spontaneous reaction to a You Tube video and not the result of Islamic extremists.
Here is a report that ABC’s Jake Tapper did on what is now beginning to look like a major cover up on the Libya terrorist attack:
Leon Panetta admits the attack on the US consulate in Libya was a terrorist attack, meanwhile the feds arrest the You Tube film maker
Earlier today Defense Secretary Leon Panetta admitted that the attack on the United States consulate in Libya on the anniversary of September 11th was a planned terrorist attack.
As we determined the details of what took place there and how that attack took place,” Panetta told reporters, “it became clear that there were terrorists who had planned that attack.
This of course means that this attack was not a spontaneous protest over some obscure You Tube video as the president would have us believe. And–backing up this post I wrote yesterday–the article I linked to above reaffirms the accusation that the Obama regime knew the likely truth about the attack within 24 hours and yet Barack Obama continues to push this lie with the help of his propaganda ministry formerly known as the mainstream media.
Open thread for Thursday September 27: Electioneering edition
Here is the open thread for Thursday, September 27th; feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss the issues of the day as they arise.
With the election season now in full gear I thought I would give you Radiohead with their song ‘Electioneering’ from one of the greatest rock albums of all times (OK Computer) for the musical selection of the day. Enjoy and have a great day.
Barack Obama knew the Libya consulate attack was terrorism within 24 hours, yet still blamed the You Tube video while speaking in front of the United Nations
Today Hillary Clinton admitted what we knew almost from the beginning; the attack on the United States consulate was led by al Qaeda. In fact, she even admitted that evidence points to the fact that the attack was well planned out and wasn’t the spontaneous act the regime first reported. We can extrapolate from this that there is almost an admission by Hillary Clinton that the You Tube video had nothing to do with the terrorist attack on the anniversary of September 11th, because that video is what was supposed to have spawned this spontaneous attack, if the attack was planned the video can no longer be blamed. The whole lame excuse must be thrown out the window.
And if this story is true the Obama regime knew this almost from the very beginning. According to an unnamed source Barack Obama knew al Qaeda was behind the attack within 48 hours.
Elizabeth Warren fought to help a steel company avoid paying pension benefits to its workers
Elizabeth Warren fashions herself as the working man’s warrior, in fact she has based her whole campaign on what she calls her passion for helping the middle class.
Of course, this passion didn’t dissuade Elizabeth Warren from purchasing homes in foreclosure and reselling them to make windfall profits on the backs of down and out middle and lower class Americans, and this passion did not dissuade her from providing legal counsel (without a proper law license) to Travelers Insurance when they were being sued by ordinary Americans for illnesses they received from asbestos exposure.
And now we learn in this article that Elizabeth Warren’s passion for helping the middle class did not dissuade her from writing a petition to the Supreme Court defending LTV Steel when the coal mine tried to take away $140 million worth of pensions from its former employees. In this case Elizabeth Warren did not side with the same type of people whose cause she claims to champion.
But now she is trying to claim she is the one best suited to give a voice to the voiceless because after all she is the one who provided the intellectual foundation of the Occupy movement because she realizes the system is rigged and nobody can get there on their own. So much so that she realized she couldn’t get there on her own and that is why she checked the box and morphed into a native-American for a few years–it was only fair.
Did Elizabeth Warren illegally provide legal services in Massachusetts without a law license?
The high cheek-boned wanna be Native-American who provided much of the intellectual foundation of the Occupy movement, Elizabeth Warren, who made a fortune flipping foreclosed houses has been running against Scott Brown as a champion of the middle class.
Last week Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren had their first debate and in an attempt to paint the would be Senator as an elitist and a 1%er Scott Brown referenced her work as legal council for Travelers Insurance, where she represented the big corporation which was in a legal battle against average Americans who claimed asbestos related illnesses. She was paid over $200,000 for her work with the insurance company which resulted in a Supreme court defeat for the very same type of people she now claims she is better suited to represent than is Scott Brown.
But according to this article there is a bigger issue for Elizabeth Warren than the hypocrisy Scott Brown highlighted, and that is it now appears that while Elizabeth Warren had her main legal office in Massachusetts she was never licensed to practice law in the state. Read more…
Barack Obama calls the terrorist attack on the United States consulate in Libya a “bump in the road”
Last night Barack Obama appeared on ’60 Minutes’ and he was asked by Steve Kroft if the recent events in the Middle East had made Barack Obama rethink his support of the governments which have come to power since the United States backed (my words, not Steve Kroft’s) Arab Spring began.
This is what Barack Obama had to say in reply:
Well, I’d said even at the time that this is going to be a rocky path. … But I was pretty certain and continue to be pretty certain that there are going to be bumps in the road because– you know, in a lot of these places– the one organizing principle– has been Islam. The one part of society that hasn’t been controlled completely by the government.”
A terrorist attack on the United States consulate in Libya, timed to coincide with September 11th, which led to the rape and murder of our ambassador as well as three of his aides–Americans–who Barack Obama didn’t provide protection for even though Chris Stevens wrote in his journal that he was worried about an attack is nothing but a bump in the road to the man whose first response was to side with the protesters against the man who supposedly began this trouble with a You Tube video? Really!
Of course this isn’t the first time the Obama regime has reacted so callously toward the loss of Americans lives. When talking about the Fast and Furious scandal ATF Supervisor David Voth once categorized Brian Terry’s death thusly:
if you are going to make an omelette, you need to scramble some eggs
Scrambled eggs and mere bumps in the road–collateral damage–that is how Barack Obama feels about the people who get in the way of his agenda, and if they have to die in order for him to move his agenda forward so be it. The end justifies the means.
