Today is what is known as “Veto Day” in New Hampshire: This is the last full day the legislature is in session in New Hampshire and it is a day which is basically dedicated to trying to override all bills which were vetoed during the session by the governor. With the Republicans having taken over both the State House and the State Senate in 2010 this was a much busier “veto day” than any in recent history as the legislature took up 15 veto override votes. The legislature overturned 7 vetoes and upheld 6.
Among the vetoes overturned were a bill banning partial birth abortions and a school choice bill, but the one bill which would be of greater national concern was the voter ID bill. Governor Lynch vetoed the voter ID bill and today the state legislature voted to override the veto and voters will now be required to show ID at the polls starting this November.
And the override vote wasn’t all that close; the Senate voted to override the veto by a margin of 18-5 and the House by a margin of 231-112. (Yes New Hampshire does have a huge legislative body compared to the population but it helps to keep the legislators close to the people, and it must be remembered that these legislators are part time and only receive a few hundred dollars in salary to compensate them for their time away from their real jobs.)
It will be interesting to see the reactions of both Barack Obama and Eric Holder to this news for we have already seen the hostility which these two men can show towards states which pass legislation they disagree with and I fully expect Barack Obama and Eric Holder to condemn the state and threaten to withhold federal money while suing the state just for good measure.
But that is okay, we are tough up here…bring it on!

Below is a new ad released by the RNC entitled “From Hope to Hypocrisy” which highlights Barack Obama’s hypocrisy on asserting executive privilege to protect either himself or Eric Holder in the Fast and Furious scandal. In 2007 then senator Barack Obama was dead set against George W Bush for asserting executive privilege stating that Bush was “hiding behind executive privilege every time there was something a little shaky.” Well, Operation Fast and Furious is more than a little shaky and yet Barack Obama decided to hide behind executive privilege.

Are Democrats beginning to abandon Eric Holder before the Contempt hearing on Thursday?
While the investigation into Fast and Furious has been going on for well over a year many people who get their news from the mainstream media have only recently heard about this scandal when Barack Obama asserted executive privilege to block documents which Darrell Issa had been demanding during this time period. This decision by Barack Obama forced the mainstream media to cover a story which it had been duplicitous in trying to cover up, but while being forced to cover the issue for the first time the networks are actively trying to spin this in favor of Barack Obama.
Because many people are just hearing about this scandal for the first time, many in the media and within the Democrat party (but I repeat myself) have done their best to spin this as nothing more than an election year, partisan, racist witch hunt carried about by the extreme right wing of the Republican party while unbeknownst to them the only reason this investigation has crept into the election year is the fact that Eric Holder has stonewalled the investigation for so long. This issue should have already been resolved and it would have been if Eric Holder wasn’t protecting either himself or Barack Obama.
Last week Darrell Issa stated that he was confident the Congress would vote to hold Eric Holder in contempt and he was equally confident that it would be a bipartisan vote with Democrats joining in to vote against Barack Obama’s beleaguered attorney general. If this is true it would deliver a death knell to those who are trying to claim this is a partisan election year political move, and we might just be seeing the first sign that Darrell Issa was right.
Despite the fact that at least three people on Barack Obama’s national security team WITHIN the White House knew about Operation Fast and Furious the president had managed to insulate himself from the deadly scandal, but that changed last week when Barack Obama declared executive privilege and sealed the documents Darrell Issa had been seeking for a year and a half. It has always seemed highly unlikely to me that three people who were on Barack Obama’s national security staff in the White House received some information on Fast and Furious and not once did they decide that this issue was important enough to inform the president on what was happening in regards to this deadly scandal.
But now that Barack Obama has asserted executive privilege it opens up a whole new can of worms and one has to wonder what the president is hiding; what did he know and when did he know it? Darrell Issa also finds it a little suspicious that Barack Obama would seal documents on this case when he claims he hasn’t seen the documents and has previously stated he didn’t know anything about the scandal until he heard about it on television, and he has sent a letter to the president calling him out. Having grown tired with the federal government’s unwillingness to enforce immigration laws the state of Arizona decided to take matters into its own hands when Jan Brewer signed into law a strict illegal immigration law. There was only one problem with this move: The constitution, in Article 1 Section 8, gives the federal government the authority to regulate the naturalization process and the Supreme Court has already ruled that this clause gives the federal government the right to set immigration policy. This new law was on shaky ground to begin with and it was quickly challenged by the Obama regime, and today the Supreme Court handed down a split decision in the case.
In what came as no surprise to me the Supreme Court, by a 5-3 margin, struck down much of Arizona’s law including three of the most controversial aspects, and I know that this will not sit well with many conservatives but I believe this was the proper decision because if you believe in the supremacy of the constitution you cannot pick and chose which aspects of the constitution you would like to see violated no matter how just you feel the cause may be. While Arizona’s law mirrored the federal law this decision came down to who had the authority to enforce immigration law and the Supreme Court sided with the federal government and Article 1 Section 8 of the constitution.

Barack Obama asks people to give up their wedding gifts to support his reelection campaign
When I first read this story I laughed because I thought it was a joke but after going to Barack Obama’s reelection website I realized that it was no joke. Barack Obama is asking anyone who is about to celebrate a birthday or an anniversary as well as anyone who is to be married to ask people to donate to his campaign instead of buying them a gift.

Let your friends know how important this election is to you—register with Obama 2012, and ask for a donation in lieu of a gift. It’s a great way to support the President on your big day. Plus, it’s a gift that we can all appreciate—and goes a lot further than a gravy bowl.
I find that last sentence to be quite telling indeed. I don’t know about you, but when my wife and I got married we were young and we didn’t have a lot of extra money. Wedding gifts, be it home furnishings or money, come in quite handy to those who are just getting started but the Obama website kind of pooh-poohs this thought with the gravy bowl comment. Barack Obama and his darling wife have been coddled throughout their lives and because of this they cannot relate to the importance of wedding gifts, even if it is just a gravy boat. And in typical Obama arrogance he assumes he can spend the money better than the would-be gift giver.
I am one who has always felt that Barack Obama’s reelection was almost certain–especially with the Republicans running Obama-lite against him–and I believed that he would be very hard to beat in November, but now I have to wonder if I was overestimating his chances of victory in November. When I read that Barack Obama has stooped to the level of asking people to give up their gifts in support of his campaign I have to believe he has seen internal polling numbers which have him very worried about his reelection–this seems like the act of a very desperate man.
Obamacare: Did the White House create a lobbying group to pay David Axelrod’s company to promote healthcare reform?
According to this article newly released emails show that the White House may have played a direct role in creating an outside lobbying group which was trying to win support for Obamacare. This group (allegedly created by the White House) paid money to AKPD to run ads promoting Obamacare even while making installment payments to a former employee–David Axelrod–while he was still working for the Obama regime, and AKPD still employees David Axelrod’s son.
AKPD was a firm started by Davil Axelrod and it earned millions of dollars by helping to elect Barack Obama before the company bought out David Axelrod’s share in the company. David Axelrod played a pivotal role in Barack Obama’s election and it looks like emails show that he was rewarded handsomely when his company got the money from a lobbyist group created by the White House to push Barack Obama’s number one priority and we are to believe this was just an unbelievable coincidence? One has to wonder if the real reason David Axelrod left the White House was to create a wall of separation between himself and the White House because he knew this maneuver was ethically challenged and knew he had to leave to protect Barack Obama.
It might have been almost possible to believe this was on the level if it wasn’t for the new emails which show the White House may have played a role in creating the group which paid David Axelrod’s company, but it is now quite evident that Barack Obama was involved in the same type of quid pro quo politics that he promised to end once he became president.
Gunrunner: Eric Holder forced to retract statement about George Bush’s involvement in Fast and Furious
Now that the mainstream media has been dragged kicking and screaming into covering the Fast and Furious debacle against their will we can expect two things: One; the media will try to paint this as a witch hunt being conducted by fringe elements of the extreme right wing during an election year because Eric Holder and Barack Obama are black, and two; the media will also try to pin the blame for Operation Fast and Furious on their favorite target–George W Bush.
I do not intend to spend much time on the first issue because frankly the left has worn out the race card over the last three years with baseless accusations, I no longer feel the need to defend myself or the Republicans on this issue other than to state that if the left puts a higher priority on saving the political life of Eric Holder than they do about getting to the bottom of a program which ended the lives of countless Mexicans they are the ones who are the real racists.
But I do believe the blame George W Bush defense needs to be addressed even though I already debunked it here last November because there are many people who are now following this story who weren’t before and the Bush did it too defense is probably a new story to those people, so here we go.
After months of posturing by both sides today was finally D-Day in the showdown between Eric Holder, the White House, and Darrell Issa. The events which unfolded today actually began in earnest yesterday after Darell Issa agreed to sit down in private with Eric Holder in an attempt–so says Eric Holder–to make a deal with Darrell Issa to avoid the contempt charges. But it turned out the deal wasn’t much of a deal at all, it sounded more like an ultimatum:
Sadly the Attorney General said in the meeting that if we go forward with contempt we’d get no cooperation from that time forward. On the other hand he said that if we would take the briefing we’d have to close the case. We’re sorta between a rock and a hard spot.
We really have to go forward – yes contempt is unusual and the US Attorney pleading the case before a federal judge in DC can take some time and unfortunately during that time we don’t expect to get a lot of new discovery. But again, you really have no choice when the executive branch says no we won’t allow you to look into misconduct within the executive branch.
The first part of that statement is just plain laughable because in order to continue cooperating Eric Holder would have had to have been cooperating in the first place. But anyway, basically Eric Holder made it sound like he was running the show, apparently forgetting that it is he who is under investigation, by trying to dictate the terms of his compliance.
