The Noise: Live and unplugged
As some of you know, my son Andy is a guitarist in a band called The Noise. The Noise played an acoustic show last Friday night and I thought I would share the videos with you.
Here is The Noise performing:

I haven’t written about the multi-million dollar companies and unions which have received healthcare reform waivers since March and since that time the Obama regime has handed out an additional 204 healthcare waivers. This brings the number of healthcare waivers granted by the Obama regime up to 1,372.
If you are a multi-million dollar company or a union and have high profile lawyers and have applied for a healthcare waiver the chances are that you have been or will be approved for a temporary reprieve from the healthcare reform law. However if you are like me and are nothing more than an average American and cannot afford a high profile lawyer to argue on your behalf you will be beholden to this law and there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it. And this double standard is coming from the man and the party who claims to care about the little people. So much for equal protection under the law.
Barack Obama admits the Libyan war is open-ended
One story that is going all but unreported is the continuing war in Libya that Barack Obama has involved the United States in. When he–or should I say the United Nations–authorized the military strikes Barack Obama promised the American people that our involvement would be short and limited. We were told that the mission had a clear goal and once that goal was met the United States would withdraw from the war. But there was only one problem, there was no clear goal.
After several days of United States’ involvement in Libya’s civil war Barack Obama finally tried to explain to the American people why we were bombing Libya. He claimed that this was a humanitarian mission (they must be “love bombs”) and while ignoring what is happening in Ivory Coast and Syria he claimed that the United States had a moral obligation to stop Ghaddafi from slaughtering his own people.
George Soros has ties to over 30 major news outlets
The left loves to complain about Fox News–just for the record I do not watch Fox News–claiming that it is not a real news network. The left has dubbed the network Faux News because they believe the station is nothing more than a propaganda arm of the Republican party.
The right loves to claim that all of the mainstream media contains liberal bias and has condemned newspapers and television stations as being nothing more than a propaganda arm of the Democrat party.
There is no doubt that the on air personalities on Fox News are right leaning, but there is also no doubt that almost every other news outlet is left leaning and here is the proof. According to the article I linked to above–and I know that the left is automatically going to discredit the story because it is published by Fox–ultra-left leaning George Soros has ties to over 30 major news outlets. Yet while the left condemns Roger Ailes for spreading what they consider right wing lies they are unwilling to admit that George Soros is in any way influencing the content which appears on virtually every other news outlet even though he has a stake in many of them.
While the left is conducting a war against the one station standing all alone in the wilderness, they fail to see the fact that “big media” on all the other stations is conducting the same type of propaganda attack they accuse Fox News of. Why is it that they feel so threatened by Fox News when they have a virtual monopoly in the media? Why is it that they do not feel as if they are being manipulated by millionaires such as George Soros for his own personal gain? Why is it that they feel George Soros is righteous while the Koch brothers are evil? Are not George Soros and the Koch brothers one in the same–evil reach people who must be punished?
The ugly truth is that the left does not hate ALL rich people; the leftist politicians love to play the class warfare game, but that is all it is–a game. When all is said and done these leftist politicians will take in any money they can–even from the evil rich–when it suits their purposes, and in George Soros they have a sympathiser so they simply overlook the fact that he represents everything they are supposed to hate.
The leftist politicians do not hate rich people–hell many of them are rich themselves–they want the American people to hate rich people because they feel this class warfare will help them remain in power. And that is why they hate Roger Ailes’s Fox News while they love the George Soros controlled media.
By a vote of 243 to 179 the House of Representatives has passed legislation which would reverse Barack Obama’s illegal oil drilling moratorium. House Republicans claim that this legislation will create over 1 million jobs and lower oil prices, and the Congressional Budget Office has estimated the legislation would create $800 million in revenue over the next decade.
So who could possibly be against this job and revenue creating legislation? Barack Obama, of course.
The Obama administration released a statement opposing the bill Wednesday. The White House argued that the proposal would undermine the current leasing process and mandate drilling leases without input from the affected states.
After doing all he could to usurp states’ rights over the last two years Barack Obama suddenly gives a damn about what the states feel about an issue?
New Hampshire governor vetoes “right to work” bill
As he promised, New Hampshire Governor John Lynch vetoed the “right to work” bill earlier today. The bill now heads back to the State House and State Senate where a push will be on to over-ride the veto. The State Senate passed the bill with the 2/3 majority needed to over-ride the veto so all eyes will be on the State House where Republicans will have to pick up between 15 and 20 votes in order to over-ride the veto.
The House has set May 25th as the day in which they will vote on the over-ride and it looks to be a steep hill to climb. However Speaker of the House William O’Brien is confident he can find the votes; 47 Republicans voted against the bill while 22 Republicans were either too busy to do the state’s business and didn’t bother to show up and do what we sent them there to do–vote, or lacked the political courage to take a stand on this issue. Simple math tells us that means O’Brien has 69 chances to find 15-20 votes.
The bill passed with overwhelming support in both the State House and State Senate so maybe there is a chance O’Brien will be able to find the votes needed within these 69 Republicans, we will just have to wait and see.
Benjamin Haas is a graduate student at LSU who decided to protest against the arrest of another student who stole a United States flag from LSU’s war memorial and burned it in protest of Osama bin Laden’s killing. Hass decided that he would also burn the American flag and was given permission by LSU to do so, however he lacked a burn permit from the town so he agreed to read a statement at the university’s “free speech alley” instead. He started to read his statement but was chased off by other students who were shouting “go to hell, hippie.”
This story is interesting on a number of levels. First, he condoned the stealing and destruction of private property.
Second, LSU gave him permission to disrespect the flag of the nation.
Third, LSU has only one certain area where free speech is allowed.
Fourth, enough college students opposed this leftist to drive him away.
And fifth and most interesting of all: The left simply does not make protesters the way they used to. Benjamin Haas was set to protest the United States government by burning the American flag, yet he did not have a government permit to burn, so he fell in line and agreed not to burn the flag of the government he was protesting because he didn’t want to get in trouble with that very same government–he was afraid that he might get in trouble for not having the proper permits from a government which he feels is oppressive. He was not nearly as ensconced in his beliefs as the flag burner he was supporting for he was not willing to risk jail time in his support.
This story brought a smile to my face, in fact I am still laughing at the ineptitude of this would be protester.
I first wrote about Michelle Obama’s “poetry night at the White House” in this post; in case you haven’t heard about it let me sum it up thusly: Michelle Obama is holding a poetry night at the White House and one of the invited guests is a rapper who goes by the name of Common. Common has written sons about killing police officers, extolling the virtues of convicted cop killer Assata Shakur (and has even named his daughter after the killer), and rapped about burning President Bush alive.
The president is now defending this decision claiming that Common is a “conscious rapper” who has “spoken very forcefully out against violent and misogynist lyrics.” Apparently Barack Obama is ignoring the fact that he has rapped about killing cop and has named his daughter in honor of a cop killer. Barack Obama is also ignoring the fact that Common has spoken out against inter-racial marriage in the past.
While Barack Obama prepares another push on amnesty for illegal aliens by touting his position in a speech in Mexico City, Jan Brewer is ready to prepare her Supreme Court challenge to the lower court ruling which stated Arizona’s immigration reform law was unconstitutional. I first read about this story at rjjrdq’s America II and felt compelled to write about it myself.
Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is going to skip a second appeal to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and will try to take the case directly to the Supreme Court:
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer announced Monday she will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a ruling that put the most controversial parts of the state’s immigration enforcement law on hold.
The planned appeal to the high court comes after Brewer lost an initial appeal April 11, when a three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals refused to reverse a lower court’s order that prevented key parts of the law from being enforced.
Attorney General Tom Horne said going directly to the Supreme Court and skipping a possible second appeal to the 9th Circuit will save time in resolving the case, while Brewer said she is confident “Arizona will prevail in its fight to protect its citizens
Michelle Obama to hold poetry night at the White House with a rapper who writes about killing police officers
Michelle Obama is hosting a poetry night at the White House tomorrow evening, and normally this would not be a problem considering First Lady Laura Bush also wanted to host a poetry night back in 2003. Laura Bush ended up cancelling the event because some of the left leaning poets’ (I know that is redundant) threatened to politicize the even with anti-war poems. While stating that she believed in the poets first amendment rights, she did not want the event to be turned into a political affair because that was not what it was supposed to be about.
Fast-forward to today: the Iraq War is still ongoing, Barack Obama has escalated the war in Afghanistan, started bombing Libya for no apparent reason, and violated the sovereignty of a nation in order to assassinate a terrorist leader (I agree with the latter and with the escalation in Afghanistan) so where are all of these people now that it is Michelle Obama who is holding a poetry reading at the White House and why are they not threatening to politicize this event?
But that is not the main point of this post, but rather who has been invited to read poetry at the White House tomorrow night. He goes by the name of “Common” and he is a rapper who writes about killing police officers and has written about burning President Bush alive. You can read some of this literary giant’s work here. He promotes violence, hatred, killing police officers and burning the ex-president while at the same time using racial slurs, and he is to be an honored guest at the White House.
I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised that the Obama’s would honor a man such as this as they have shown an “utter lack of respect for the law” for a very long time. From launching his political career in the home of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn–unrepentant domestic terrorists who are responsible for bombing police stations, the United States Capitol building, and the Pentagon–to setting up Porta-Potties on a police memorial at a campaign event in Oregon in 2008, to calling the Cambridge police department stupid while admitting that he didn’t know the facts in the case, the Barack Obama seems to have a certain disdain for the police.
It is an absolute outrage that a man who writes the type of violent lyrics that “Common” does is going to be a guest of honor in the White House and it shows a real lack of judgement on the Obama’s for even thinking this would be acceptable. How can they possibly justify this and are they really so out of touch with mainstream America that they feel will will find this degradation of the White House and the presidency to be acceptable?
