Please allow me to repeat the title of this post; “Obama’s science czar advocated giving trees the right to sue.”
Yes, you read that right. John Holdren, Obama’s science czar, once advocated for giving trees legal standing.
Giving “natural objects” — like trees — standing to sue in a court of law would have a “most salubrious” effect on the environment, Holdren wrote the 1970s.
“One change in (legal) notions that would have a most salubrious effect on the quality of the environment has been proposed by law professor Christopher D. Stone in his celebrated monograph, ‘Should Trees Have Standing?’” Holdren said in a 1977 book that he co-wrote with Paul R. Ehrlich and Anne H. Ehrlich.
“In that tightly reasoned essay, Stone points out the obvious advantages of giving natural objects standing, just as such inanimate objects as corporations, trusts, and ships are now held to have legal rights and duties,” Holdren added.
This was all being written as a means to pass environmental legislation and should be considered scary in light of the cap and trade legislation that will soon be debated in the senate. John Holdren is the man that President Obama defers to on matters of science and this whole global warming hoax falls nicely into that realm for Holdren.
A man that once said that trees should be able to sue in order to save the environment is now in charge of advising the president on scientific issues.
The book that Holdren speaks so glowingly about above also calls man’s treatment of trees akin to slavery, the author of the book says that granting inanimate objects rights may seem far fetched but so did granting equal rights to black people at one time:
The fact is, that each time there is a movement to confer rights onto some new ‘entity,’ the proposal is bound to sound odd or frightening or laughable,” Stone wrote.
“This is partly because until the rightless (sic) thing receives its rights, we cannot see it as anything but a thing for the use of ‘us’–those who are holding rights at the time . . . Such is the way the slave South looked upon the black
This is the type of thinking that John Holdren agrees with? I had labeled Holdren a radical for some of his other views but he is more than just a radical, he is a radical whack-job. The idea that someone who believes that an inanimate object deserves the right to sue in court was actually nominated and approved to the president’s cabinet is just mind blowing to me. Where was all of this evidence before his confirmation hearing? Why is it only coming out now when it is too late?
Does President Obama Run the Risk of Over Exposure?
Thismay be an extreme example but it highlights a point that I have been thinking about for a while, when will the people tire of seeing President Obama on television every day? Will the president suffer from over exposure?
An elderly woman is so sick and tired of seeing the president on the television all of the time that she is selling her televisions. She just can’t take the endless lecturing. As I wrote, this is an extreme example but it leads to a point, and that point is does President Obama risk being over exposed? He seems to be on the cover of every magazine and in television commercials all of the time. It is as if the campaign has never ended, or more accurately, as if he is already campaigning for his reelection.
One criticism that I had about President Bush was that he was not out in the public and on television defending his policies enough, but President Obama seems to be taking the opposite approach to the extreme.
At some point the American people are going to get sick and tired of seeing him all of the time. This may already be the case, as every nationally televised press conference that the president has held has drawn fewer and fewer viewers. At some point the American people are going to tire of his talk and are going to demand action.
We may be seeing the beginning of this right now. It would seem to me that the American people are starting to tune the president out while they wait for him to actually accomplish something. Talk will only get you so far and with the short attention span of many Americans it would seem to me that people are beginning to tire of seeing President Obama 24 hours a day. I think that his rapidly falling approval ratings are partially a result of this. When people see the president on television they are beginning to wonder what else is on. There is nothing new with the rhetoric that Obama is spewing, the American people have heard it all before from this president and they nay be beginning to resent the fact that they just cannot escape from him.
President Obama comes off as preachy whenever he steps in front of a microphone and this has to be wearing on the American people. President Clinton had a knack for promoting his agenda and appealing to the American people, President Obama is trying to follow in his footsteps but there seems to be something missing.
I truly believe that President Obama’s plan to be this exposed will backfire on him, people are beginning to shrug their shoulders when they see him speak. By being out in front of the cameras all of the time the president is, in my opinion, going to wear out his welcome.
The president is running the risk of being overexposed. Barack Obama was “it” for a while but soon people will be looking for the next big thing. Much like that song that you hear on the radio and love the first several times that you hear it, it eventually gets played so much that you begin to resent radio stations that play the song, Barack Obama runs the risk of turning the “hope” that he campaigned on into resentment.
This year’s New Hampshire budget was “balanced’ by the governor’s plan to steal money that does not belong to the state and use it in the budget. He tried to take money that belonged to the Joint Underwriting Association, and independent agency from the government that provides malpractice insurance for doctors. $100 million to be exact.
A court battle was being fought as the budget was being signed and now the judge has ruled in the case. The judge that the state has no right to take this money, a major blow to John Lynch’s budget. It really would have been a surprise if the judge had ruled any other way.
This ruling leaves New Hampshire with a budget hole of $65 million this year and $45 million in last year’s budget. John Lynch was counting on this money to cook the books for last year’s bloated budget and now he is going to have to find a way to balance last year’s budget as well as this year’s. New Hampshire has a balanced budget amendment and so the governor has no choice but to come up with $100 million, wither in saving or in taxes.
Which do you think that he will choose? Somebody is going to have to pay for Governor Lynch’s stupid idea of trying to steal money from a private organization and it will be us.
This move should not be forgotten and it should not be forgiven. John Lynch’s irresponsible spending has put us in this mess and now he has no idea how to get us out of it. John Lynch acted like the crack addict who must steal to feed his addiction. John Lynch’s addiction is spending money and he tried to steal to feed this addiction. It didn’t work and now New Hampshire is in a real bind.
Have you had enough of this administration yet New Hampshire? This should be the final straw.
Healthcare Reform Will Have to Wait Until October
Earlier today President Obama admitted that there will most likely be no vote on healthcare reform until October. While this is a major blow to the president’s agenda it can only be seen as a victory for most Americans.
This bill, even in the best-case scenario, will not be signed — we won’t even vote on it probably until the end of September or the middle of October
While the president will likely try to blame Republicans for delaying this bill, and while I would love to give all of the credit to Republicans for delaying this bill, that is part of the story but only one part. The truth is that Democrats could pass this bill without one single Republican vote so there is more to this than just what the president would call Republican obstructionism. The full truth is that the Democrat party is split on this legislation with Blue Dog Democrats also obstructing this bill’s passage. Obama claimed that he would work in a bipartisan manner and the effort to slow this bill down has realized Obama’s bipartisan pledge. There has been a bipartisan effort to stop this bill. It is a disgrace who President Obama named as his “Science Czar” and it is even more of a disgrace that either the information which follows in this post was not provided to the senate for his confirmation hearing or it was submitted and ignored by the senate.
I thought that it was bad enough when we recently learned that Obama “Science Czar,” John Holdren, was a proponent of forced abortion and sterilization, (so much for a woman’s right to choose), but we are learning even more facts about Holdren that are equally radical and insidious.
Joe Biden
Joe Biden’s comment, while true and while it probably accurately articulated the president’s policy, has rightfully and understandably upset the Russians. Just because the comment might be true doesn’t mean that it should be said.
Russian newspapers are now calling the Obama administration equivalent to the Bush administration, something I am sure that Obama must be cringing at.

With one comment Joe Biden has managed to undermine the president’s Russian policy. This man just does not know when to shut up. With Israeli protesters taking to the streets and calling Obama a racist, with Obama’s foreign policy being a disaster to this point, and with Obama’s knack for alienating our allies across the globe, the last thing that he needs is the number two man in the country undermining his foreign policy. But then again, judging by Obama’s foreign policy do far, that might not be a bad thing after all.
Republican Healthcare Reform Mailers are Being Censored
In this new era of “open” and “honest” government, in this new era of “transparent” government there seems to be something missing; namely openness, honesty, and transparency. Other than that slight issue this new age of government ushered in by the election of Barack Obama is to be hailed by all of those who voted for “hope” and “change.”
The latest example of the government not quite adhering to not only Obama’s transparency pledge, but to the transparency pledge made by most Democrats, is the fact that Republicans are being censored in mailers that they are sending out to their constituents. This is happening to Republicans who are sending out mailers to constituents about the healthcare reform bill.
It is no secret that Hollywood supported Barack Obama as president over John McCain. The beautiful people flocked to Barack Obama in droves because he made them feel good. The only thing that makes a Hollywood liberal feel better than voting for a liberal presidential candidate is looking good. Looking good makes them feel good. That is just the way that it is and it is the way that it will always be. These self possessed egomaniacs will do anything to look their best. This includes plastic surgery and botox as a means to better their own self image and narcissism.
I thought that there would be nothing that the president could do that would cause Hollywood liberals to abandon him but this just might be what causes these image obsessed self important righteous pricks to do just that.
According to www.meclinic.com.au, under a plan by the Senate Finance Committee a 10% tax could be imposed on plastic surgery and botox as a means to pay for healthcare reform. This cannot sit well with Hollywood and companies like Allure Plastic Surgery, because while they think that they know what is best for Americans they never thought that they would also be asked to sacrifice anything to help pay for healthcare. Sacrifice is meant for others, they never thought that sacrifice would hit them where it would hurt the most– in the mirror.
It looks like we can add another state to the list of states who is looking to shield themselves from Barack Obama’s over-reaching federal government. Nebraska is now beginning the process of declaring their sovereignty under the 10th Amendment of the Constitution.

Naturally opponents of this movement are harking back on slavery and the civil rights movement to counter any argument for a state to declare its sovereignty. This is an old argument and it is a convenientargument frankly it just does not apply. This argument just proves that Obama supporters do not have a leg to stand on so they have been reduced to name calling.
The truth is that Barack Obama is trying to expand the federal government and people are beginning to become leery of it. That us what this movement is about. Instead of arguing for Barack Obama’spolicies the opponents of state’s rights try to tie this movement in with slavery and racism. They do this because they are either unwilling or unable to defend Barack Obama’s over-reaching agenda.
With the several states that have come out against the bloated federal government I find myself more hopeful that we can turn this trend of massive government expansion around. People are still not ready to hand over every aspect of their lives to government just yet.
This may not bode well for the Obama administratiopn in the next election.
Countrywide Financial is one of the companies that is considered to be at the heart of the mortgage meltdown. Chris Dodd received a special interest rate through Countrywide Fianancial although he has denied that he had any idea he was receiving preferential treatment.
This story has disappeared from the public eye for over a year but now we are learning that Chris Dodd, who is chairman of the banking committee, did in fact knowthat he was getting preferential treatment from a company that has been accused of using predatory lending practices on people of less stature that Chris Dodd.
One of Chris Dodd’s responsibilities is to fix the mortgage crisis and I would argue that with his sweetheart loan deal he is part of the problem and as such he could begin to fix the problem by resigning his chairmanship.
The hypocrisy of Chris Dodd bemoaning mortgage companies for predatory lending while at the same tome accepting a sweetheart loan deal is breathtaking. He is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
