Big Brother is Watching: White House Website Urges Citizens to Report People Who Oppose Healthcare Reform
Beware what you say to whom; Big Brother, or probably more accurately anybody, can be listening to you.
The White House website now has a page that is asking citizens to report anybody who opposes the healthcare reform bill. From this page:
Opponents of health insurance reform may find the truth a little inconvenient, but as our second president famously said, “facts are stubborn things.”
Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet, breathlessly claiming, for example, to “uncover” the truth about the President’s health insurance reform positions.
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
There it is directly from the White House website. As bad as it is that citizens are being asked to report to the government those who may be responsible for sending emails that are critical of healthcare reform, there is something even more scary than that in this statement. Did you catch the part about “casual conversations?”
People are being asked by the government to report people who they talk to that oppose healthcare reform. In other words the government is asking Americans to spy on other Americans and report them if their views are different than the president’s views.
Did you ever believe that this day would come in America? Suddenly opposing the president isn’t patriotic, as it was when Bush was the president. Now if you oppose the president the government is asking that you be reported for simply debating the issues with another citizen.
This president is looking to stifle debate in an effort to push his radical agenda and there in NOTHING more unpatriotic or un-American than that idea. This president has a narcissist complex unlike any that we have ever seen in a president.
John Cornyn summed this situation up well when he said the following:
I am not aware of any precedent for a president asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed fishy or otherwise inimical to the White House’s political interests
Debate of the people is the centerpiece of the American model. We are supposed to debate the issues and choose our leaders based on these issue and here we have the White House making criminals out of those who merely have a difference of opinions on the issues. This is not criminal, it is simply part of the process. If this president cannot handle having people disagree with him he should never have even run for president.
Cornyn continues:
As Congress debates health care reform and other critical policy matters, citizen engagement must not be chilled by fear of government monitoring the exercise of free speech rights
How true is that statement? Barack Obama is trying to intimidate those who disagree with him on this issue, but we must not let that stop us. I am going to report myself to the White House as soon as I finish this post. I am calling out the president, DO NOT TRY TO STOP MY RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH THROUGH SUCH THUGGISH METHODS. If you think that I am wrong do not try to silence me, debate me. That was how the system was set up.
Barack Obama is advocating turning in people who talk to others about their opposition to healthcare reform, if you talk to a healthcare reform advocate and they decide to they can report you to the White House as an enemy to the president’s agenda. This is disgraceful and un-American to say the least. But then again Obama hates America so it shouldn’t be surprising that he would try to silence those that love America and what she stands for.
The president has drawn a line in the sand, he has defined his enemy and his enemy is anybody who opposes a government takeover of the healthcare industry. One can judge a person by the company he keeps and Barack Obama is no exception. He has aligned himself with radicals all of his life and because of that we can label him a radical. But you can also measure a person by who he calls his enemies and with this website page Barack Obama has called over 50% of Americans his enemy.
We can not stand for his Orwellian policies any longer, it is time to stand up. Barack Obama is trying to marginalize and intimidate those who do not agree with him. It is now more important than ever to stand up and tell the president that those who oppose him are not going away because of a simple intimidation tactic, if anything this should galvanize us against such fascistic behavior. It is time to take our country back!

I saw this picture on a couple of other blogs, An Unlikely Prespective, and Totus but I just couldn’t resist posting it myself. Is there anything else that needs to be said as President Obama arrogantly walks away from the accused racist as the accused helps his accuser down the stairs? Effectively putting his stupid comment behind him literally and figuratively.
I didn’t think so.
There has been one theme to Barack Obama’s presidency to date; his perceived need for congress to move quickly. Barack Obama has either manufactured or exploited what he calls crisis in order to quickly push his socialist agenda through congress.
But there is an exception to his call for quick action; his urge to move quickly is abandoned when it comes to releasing information that is contrary or potentially damaging to his position.
We have seen this on a few issues already. We first saw the Obama administration go into slow down mode when the White House refused to release some papers on Sonia Sotomayor. We then saw him continue his slow down when it came to releasing a congressionally mandated economic report and again when it came to issuing a report on the reduction of government spending.
What do these reports all have in common? They represent data that would run contrary to Obama’s stated goals, in order to keep up his public relations he held up releasing reports that could possibly be damaging to him.
And now he is at it again, this time with the “cash for clunkers” program. Barack Obama is refusing to release the reports on the ill administrated “cash for clunkers” program. The speculation is that he is holding up this report because American car companies are not nearly reaping the benefits as foreign automakers, but it could just be that the program isn’t nearly as successful as we have been led to believe. We won’t know until he releases the report, but there must be something damaging there or else he would readopt his “move quickly” attitude to show the American people how good he is. This should be quite telling as the senate debates the issue of adding another $2 billion to this program.
Barack Obama promised an era of transparency and so far he is failing on that front. He is transparent only when it is in his best interest, just as he is only willing to move quickly when it is in his best interest.
One would think that if the “cash for clunkers” program was as successful as the president and the media have claimed than Barack Obama would have no problem releasing the report in an effort to show the senate why they should approve an additional $2 billion into the program. His unwillingness to release this report as the senate debates tripling the cost of the program should be enough in itself to persuade the senate to vote against more funding for the program.
Barack Obama’s new era of transparency should be called the era of selective transparency; that would be far more accurate.
President Obama is fond of telling the American people that if they like their healthcare plan that they will be able to keep it under his healthcare reform bill.

Timothy Geithner Won’t Rule Out a Middle Class Tax Increase
I know that I don’t need to remind anybody that when he was running for president Barack Obama promised that 95% of Americans would receive a tax cut and that nobody making under $250,000 would receive a tax increase. Many of us knew that this was bullshit, the president just couldn’t fund all of his policies and not raise taxes. The numbers just did not add up. But many people wanted to believe him so they voted for him anyway.
Recently Timothy Geithner was asked if Barack Obama would have to break his promise not to raise taxes on the middle class and he refused to say no. He was given several opportunities to say that the president would stand by his word, he declined.
When Obama became the president his first priority was to pass a stimulus bill. We were told that there could be no delay, any delay would lead to a catastrophe, and so on. Because of the president’s flaunting of a crisis to pass his stimulus bill the bill was pushed through too quickly. The bill was not read and we have seen the results– with one exception the bill is a failure.
That one exception was the “cash for clunkers” program. This program was wildly popular and got consumers out buying brand new cars. But, again due to the administration rushing the stimulus package through, there were not enough funds allocated to the program. The program, like the rest of the stimulus bill, was not thoroughly studied. Because of the government’s shortsightedness the program ran out of money within six days. SIX DAYS! The program was supposed to run either until November 1st or until funds ran out, needless to say nobody in the government expected the funds to be exhausted so quickly, so the government did what the government does best– it threw more money at the problem.
John Boehner on Healthcare Reform: The Public Option will be the Only Option in Five Years
The president likes to claim that the “public option” health insurance program is just on option. He claims that if you like the health insurance that you have you will be able to keep it, but that may not be true according to House minority leader John Boehner.
We already know that the government run healthcare option will put the private insurance companies out of business eventually leaving only the government option, the debate is over on that issue, it is settled science to borrow a term from Al Gore, but let us just pretend for a minute that private plans will not be run out of business by the government run option.
The Democrats campaigned on being the party of open, honest, and transparent government. There were several scandals in the Republican party that Democrats were able to capitalize on which helped them regain power. They promised the American people that if they were elected they would usher in a new age of honest government.
Their rhetoric doesn’t seem to match their actions so far. One needs to look no further than the scandals surrounding Dianne Feinstein, Charlie Rangel, Timothy Geithner, and John Murtha for proof of my statement. But I will look further, because there is more evidence that the Democrat party is not the party of open, honest, transparent government that they claimed to be.
Democrats are refusing to subpoena the records of Countrywide Financial. There are two main reasons for this; those reasons are Kent Conrad and Chris Dodd. Two of their own have received Countrywide mortgages based on the “VIP” system.
Countrywide Financial was made an example by Democrats of what is wrong with the mortgage companies, they were made a sacrificial lamb offered up by the Democrats and painted as a major culprit in the mortgage meltdown.
But Countrywide also had a “VIP” program called the “Friends of Angelo,” (Angelo being the CEO of Countrywide at the time), if you were a “friend of Angelo” you got preferential treatment on your mortgage. Both Kent Conrad and Chris Dodd were “friends of Angelo” and they both indeed got preferential treatment on mortgages. Both men claim that they did not realize being a “friend of Angelo” meant that they received preferential loan treatment.
And now Democrats are refusing to subpoena records that may show us exactly what these men knew. Coincidence? I think not! How convenient is it for the Democrats to just let Countrywide off the hook? How open and honest is that?
If Democrats truly wanted to be the open and honest party they would subpoena these records regardless of which party might be hurt but I guess protecting the party is more important that being open and honest.
We have learned quite a bit about President Obama science czar, John Holdren, lately– none of it good. From condoning forced abortions (so much for a woman’s right to choose, that decision would be rendered to the state) and forced sterilization to the fact that he doesn’t even consider a living baby a human being until it has “essential early socializing experiences,” (one can only wonder what type of socializing experiences Holdren considers essential), to the absolutely laughable position that trees and other inanimate objects should have equal rights as humans and should be allowed to sue, the man has proved himself to be the very definition of a radical.
All of these positions have an air of anti-Americanism to them and as if there was any doubt about that we have now learned that he also advocates “zero economic growth” for America.

When President Obama signed the stimulus bill one of the biggest criticisms of the bill was that there was no money to pay for it.
Included in the stimulus bill was the “cash for clunkers” program that offered federal rebates towards the purchase of new, more efficient automobiles. The “cash for clunkers” program started earlier this week and guess what? There is no money to fund the program so the government may be forced to stop the program. There is no money? No shit! The whole stimulus bill was unfunded, who the hell is surprised that there is no money for this program?
The fact that the government may be forced to cancel the one part of the stimulus plan that seemed to be working has to be considered a major blunder and embarrassment to the president. The shortsightedness of this is astounding and it has to make you wonder, if the government can not properly run or fund a relatively simple and inexpensive program like this how the hell can they be expected to fun and fund healthcare? The government is in the process of making the same shortsighted mistakes on the healthcare bill that it did on the stimulus bill.
That is a something that should scare everybody, screwing up a program designed to sell cars is one thing but screwing up a life or death program like healthcare is another. [End]
