House Passes Stimulus Bill- Without Republican Support
The house passed President Obama’s welfare stimulus bill and it passed without a single Republican vote. This is music to my ears, forgetting for a moment that this shows how ineffective the Republican minority will be, every Republican stood firm and denied President Obama a bipartisan victory on his first piece of major legislation. They didn’t cave in to Obama for fear of appearing to look divisive. This shows us that they may be willing to stand firm to their beliefs.
President Obama promised to be bipartisan, Republicans asked for a meeting to voice their opinions, suggestions, and apprehensions on the stimulus bill and President Obama obliged them. However he was unwilling to work with them, listening and working are to very different things. President Obama said “I won” to Republican when they tried to compromise with him. He claimed that that victory trumped their compromise attempts and today the Republicans had the opportunity to voice their displeasure with their vote and they did just that.
President Obama wanted Republicans on board with this bill so that he could appear bipartisan and also to provide cover in case his stimulus package didn’t work. If Republicans voted for this bill and the stimulus doesn’t work both parties would have been to blame. Now the glory or blame will fall on the Democrats alone. If the stimulus works the Republicans will now be out of power for a long time as they will be perceived to have opposed the plan that turned around the economy. And the perception will be reality. However if the stimulus fails to stimulate and the economy stagnates or gets worse the Republicans will have the upper hand.
This is the gamble that the Republicans took, and I don’t think it was a gamble at all. This welfare bill that is being touted as a stimulus package has no chance of working. Increasing spending when the economy is slowing is suicide.
Today Republicans took a possible PR hit for opposing this bill but they held true to the ideals of smaller, limited government and reduced spending. I would rather take the PR hit and stick to what I believe is right than to do what I thought was popular.
It is not a mystery that I oppose this bill and think the results of passage will be devastating, so today I stand up and cheer the hose Republicans for taking a stand. The press will not be supportive of this move but in the long run I think that this will pay dividends.
Now if we can just get the senate to follow suit.
President Obama is poised to pull off the greatest and most expensive fraud ever perpetrated on the American people. This fraud will even dwarf the global warming swindle legislation that he will also try to pass.
Mine, mine, mine, all mine
This fraud is the labeling of the bloated, big government, welfare, spending, entitlement program as an economic stimulus package. This bill, while being called an economic stimulus package, is nothing of the sort. This package is nothing but the wet dream of Democrats and their pet programs that they have been waiting to implement for many years. They finally have a moonbat president and a large enough majority in the house and senate to pass many entitlement programs designed to subjugate the American people by rendering them dependent on government through government subsidies and welfare payoffs the like of which have never been seen. Thus ensuring that these same people vote Democrat to keep the free money coming in.
Does this sound like an economic stimulus package to you? The Wall Street Journal has run the numbers and it turns out that only 12 cents on every dollar is going to be spent on something that can stimulate the economy.
Add the roughly $20 billion for business tax cuts, and by our estimate only $90 billion out of $825 billion, or about 12 cents of every $1, is for something that can plausibly be considered a growth stimulus
The rest of the money is nothing but pork barrel spending and money to be spent on liberal social programs to push the country as far left as possible in as short period of time as possible before the American people can realize what is happening. By the time the people realize what happened it will be too late.
So where is the majority of this money going?
- There’s $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn’t turned a profit in 40 years
- $2 billion for child-care subsidies
- $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts
- $400 million for global-warming research
- $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects
- $600 million more for the federal government to buy new cars
- $7 billion for modernizing federal buildings and facilities
- The Smithsonian is targeted to receive $150 million
- $252 billion is for income-transfer payments — that is, not investments that arguably help everyone, but cash or benefits to individuals for doing nothing at all
- $20 billion for food stamps
- $83 billion for the earned income credit for people who don’t pay income tax
- $54 billion will go to federal programs that the Office of Management and Budget or the Government Accountability Office have already criticized as “ineffective”
- $4.19 billion for “neighborhood stabilization activities” including ACORN
- $335,000,000 FOR STD PREVENTION
- $650 million for digital TV coupons
- $6 billion for colleges/universities — many which have billion dollar endowments
The list seems to grow every day as more and more details of this disastrous bill come out.This bill is being used as cover to push a far left agenda and President Obama is using the politics of fear to intimidate the voters into supporting this bill.
The Wall Street Journal has a Rahm Emanuel quote from just last Novenmer that is quite telling:
Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before
Now that is chilling. We can see from that quote that Barack Obama is engaging in the politics of fear.
Never let a serious crisis go to waste? It’s an opportunity to do things that you couldn’t do before? Those words tell us where Rahm Emanuel’s and President Obama’s loyalties really lie. A crisis is nothing but an opportunity to push an agenda. And all of this is being done under the guise of stimulating the economy during an economic crisis.
It is time for us to realize that we are being sold a bill of goods, but what we are being sold isn’t what we think we are buying.
President Obama is poised to perpetrate the biggest and most expensive fraud in history. And there is nothing that we can do to stop it.
New SCHIP Bill Will not Require Proof of Citizenship
I wrote about the fact that the new SCHIP bill will expand the coverage of SCHIP into families that already provide their children healthcare in an attempt to make more families rely on the government rather than on themselves here. I also mentioned in the same post the fact that the children of illegal aliens will be covered under this new expansion of the SCHIP program. In light of this article I feel it is time to look further into this issue.
A proposed change to the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), currently under reauthorization by Congress, could make it possible for people to get health coverage by presenting only a Social Security number, not a photo ID or proof of legal residency or citizenship, such as a birth certificate, driver’s license or passport
You do not have to prove that you are an American citizen in order to receive SCHIP benefits. Anyone will be able to apply for and receive SCHIP benefits.
In an economic downturn the government is proposing to expand SCHIP, with the expansion will come additional costs. These costs will be even higher than they should be because illegal aliens will be benefiting from the higher taxes the American people will be paying.
This is another big government entitlement program being introduced during a time when the American people least need to be paying more taxes. The last thing that the struggling families in America need to be doing is subsidizing healthcare for illegal aliens.
When Harry Reid was asked about this he said the following:
Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the legislation “is enforceable and fair, and I don’t think we need to do any better than what we’ve done.”
Let me see if I have this straight. The mortgage crisis has led to the economic downturn. The mortgage crisis is the fault of President Bush and the fact that there was no government oversight because of the deregulation of the mortgage industry. That is what the Democrats have told us.
But now deregulation when it comes to SCHIP is okay. It is okay to spend millions of dollars on the healthcare of people who do not belong here. Suddenly more regulations are bad and less regulations are good. This doesn’t make any sense.
President Obama and the Politics of Fear
How many times have we heard the term “the politics of fear” in the past? The answer is innumerable times. Whenever President Bush, John McCain, or any other Republican for that matter, mentioned terrorism, or September 11th they were accused of engaging in the politics of fear. They were accused of fear-mongering for talking about a very real issue that Americans need to hear about.
Since President Obama took the oath of office, and actually even before, he has been warning Americans of the need to pass his stimulus bill right away. He has let Republicans know that American can’t afford a delay in the passage of this bill.
President Obama is using the “politics of fear” to scare the American people into pressuring their senators and representatives into supporting his stimulus bill. He is also using the “politics of fear” to try to intimidate Republican lawmakers into supporting his bill.
Every day he goes on television and radio claiming that we can’t delay passing his bill. He claims that every day the economy gets worse and worse and that only his bill can save the day. This is fear-mongering. The same type of fear-mongering that the left accused Bush of using, this is just fear-mongering on a different issue.
The economy goes through ups and downs, it always has and always will. There have been worse economic times and there have been better economic times. But President Obama is using the politics of fear to claim that this time only government spending and increasing the size of government will save the economy. This is a lie. The economy will eventually approve without his bill.
President Obama is using the “politics of fear” not because he is proposing an economic stimulus package that will right the economy, President Obama is using the “politics of fear” to push a radical far left agenda in the guise of an economic stimulus package.
President Obama is trying to scare the American people into supporting his stimulus package before they realize that it is really nothing more than a giant welfare check underwritten by the American taxpayer.
President Obama is nothing but an economic fear-monger.
President Obama’s Stimulus Plan to Include Money for ACORN
President Obama’s stimulus package is nothing more than a scheme to send billions of dollar into left leaning government entitlement programs designed to grow the government and the people reliant on government.
President Obama’s stimulus package is a one trillion dollar pork barrel, earmark bill. It is welfare.
It’s just a long list of spending items. Not a real economic stimulus job creation bill,” Vitter said. “It’s line after line after line of favorite liberal spending programs, and it amounts to a big government bill — not a job creation bill.”
The latest acknowledgement of this is the realization that ACORN could be the recipient of billions of dollars under this stimulus bill.
Republican lawmakers are raising concerns that ACORN, the low-income advocacy group under investigation for voter registration fraud, could be eligible for billions in aid from the economic stimulus proposal working its way through the House.
ACORN is a corrupt liberal organization that is actively engaged in voter fraud and for their crimes they are going to be rewarded by the president that they helped to elect.
This bill is being used as a payoff for all of the liberal groups that contributed to H’s election. This is not a stimulus bill and it never was meant to be. This is a bill designed to repay all of the liberal organizations that helped get Barack Obama elected, it is also the first salvo in his re-election campaign.
If Republicans go along with Obama on this pork barrel, big government, higher spending, entitlement, welfare, irresponsible spending bill than they deserve losing yet another election in 2010. It is time to draw the line in the sand. With America on the verge of a recession the last thing that the country needs is more spending and more taxes.
Why Does President Obama Need GOP Support for His Stimulus Bill
The media, President Obama, and the Democrats have all claimed that the president needs GOP approval of his stimulus package. We are told that without broad bipartisan support the bill will be perceived as a loss for President Obama, even if it passes. Why is it that President Obama needs the support of the GOP for his stimulus package?
The truth is that President Obama does not need the support of the GOP to pass his stimulus bill. He has the votes without the Republicans. He has a Democrat majority in the house and senate, he can do almost anything that he wants to. Why then is he so interested in getting their vote? Why is he pressing them so hard for their support when he should already have the votes that he needs?
I feel there are two possible reasons why President Obama want a majority of Republican names on this bill.
The first possible reason is just to show bipartisanship. He ran as the candidate who will unite the country, bring change to Washington, and end the partisan bickering. If Obama fails to include in his stimulus bill provisions that make the bill more palatable to Republicans he will have failed to do all of the above on his very first effort. It is purely a PR type of move.
The second reason is blame distribution. Nobody knows if this plan will work and now the spin from the Obama administration is that this bill is about investing in our future, not job creation. Already he is backing down from his claim that this plan will create jobs.
Because none of the so-called experts can tell Obama and his administration for certain that this bill will have any positive effect on the economy they don’t want to be alone if this stimulus bill doesn’t stimulate. President Obama and the Democrats are scared to death that if this bill fails and there are only Democrat names on the bill they will take the blame solely on their shoulders. Rightly so.
So they are looking to recruit Republicans to their side on the stimulus package to “redistribute the blame” if it fails. If Republicans are smart they will stay away from this bill.
White House Backs Away From Contraception Aide in Stimulus Bill
Nancy Pelosi made headlines over the weekend when she went on television and defended the contraception aide that was built into what is supposed to be an economic stimulus package. She basically claimed that population control was good for the economy. (Sounds too much like China to me.)
People are beginning to look at all of the pork that is in this bill and they are beginning to realize that this is just a big government welfare bill full of entitlements and handouts and bears very little resemblance to a stimulus bill.
Suddenly President Obama is backing away from the contraception aide portion of the bill using the “it wasn’t me” defense.
The Obama White House on Monday backed away from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s support for increased federal funding of contraception in the $825-billion stimulus bill now under consideration by Congress.
That was not President Obama’s idea, a White House spokesman told CNSNews.com.
President Obama is trying to deflect negative publicity away from himself. 
When Republicans tried to negotiate with President Obama on the stimulus bill they were told by the president “I won”. He basically told the Republicans that he was in charge and that he would set the parameters of the bill with those two simple words.
But now that a portion of that bill has come under attack he has switched from his “I won” position to his “it wasn’t my idea” position. This is no way to prove yourself as a leader. This is cowardice. And it is already his second, actually third, act of cowardice since he has become president.
Last week he was supposed to sign an executive order to lift the ban on United States taxpayer’s money funding abortions overseas. He delayed the signing for a day because there were right to lifers protesting outside. That was his first act of cowardice.
On Friday he heard that Martin Luther King’s niece (a pro lifer) was outside of the White House ready to give a press conference once he signed the executive order. She had to give the press conference before he signed the order because he waited until 7:00 at night to sign it. Everybody who follows politics knows that when there is bad or controversial news to release that you do it on a Friday evening after the news cycle is over to avoid bad press. That is what Obama did, that was act of cowardice number two.
And today when the pressure starts to mount on the contraception aide in the stimulus bill he bails out on that. Strike three.
President Obama, we know that you are a radical leftist, you don’t have to hide who you are. I would have more respect for you if you came out proudly for what you believed in but you hide your beliefs and that is cowardly. I have no respect for you. Please stop blaming others.
Top Obama Aides Mentioned in Blagojevich Subpoenas
When news broke of Rod Blagojevich’s pay to play scam in which he was trying to sell Obama’s vacant senate seat the president boldly claimed that neither he nor any of his staff had any contact with Blagojevich. That was an outright lie.
President Obama then conducted an internal investigation in which he admitted that Rahm Emanuel did have multiple conversations with Rod Blagojevich. But none of them were in appropriate, and we have to believe him, after all he investigated it himself internally. RRRIIIGGGGHHHTTTT!
But now comes this news that some of President Obama’s top aides are mentioned in subpoenas and the government wants some of their documents.
Sweeping federal subpoenas of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich‘s administration include requests for records involving David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett, senior advisers to President Barack Obama.
One of the conversations that was wire tapped involved Blagojevich talking to Valerie Jarrett and includes him believing that Jarrett is interested in the pay to play scheme. Without having heard the tape, if this is true than that is the second Barack Obama lie on this issue. President Obama claims that nobody on his staff even knew about the scam. This tape may prove otherwise.
Still nobody on Obama’s staff has been implicated:
Prosecutors have said Obama is not implicated in the case, and none of his advisers has been accused of wrongdoing
Here is where I find that this case gets interesting. The feds jumped in and arrested Blagojevich before any deal was consummated. In most cases the feds wait until the deal goes down and then arrest both parties, why not this time?
Patrick Fitzgerald is the same prosecutor that investigate the Vallery Plame leak non-story for a full year after he found out who leaked Valery Plame’s name. Yet in this case he stops the crime from being committed.
There is only one possible reason for this in my opinion. This was going to go to the top. If the deal was consummated it would have implicated at least Rahm Emanuel and possibly even Barack Obama himself.
There is more to this story than meets the eye and Rod Blagojevich knows it and that is why he is so arrogantly refusing to resign. He is holding the trump card, a high level official, and he is just waiting to play it.
Obama, Ethics, Charlie Rangel, and John Murtha
President Obama has implemented strict ethics guidelines for his administration. Evidently those guidelines don’t apply to Hillary Clinton who as Secretary of State will be meeting with the same world leaders who are funneling millions of dollars into her husband’s foundation. The new guidelines seemingly don’t apply to Timothy Geithner, the tax cheat who will soon be heading the IRS, or Rahm Emanuel who was in conversations with Rod Blagojevich about Obama’s vacant senate seat.
But anyway.
Top Democrats just don’t seem to be on board with the president’s new ethics rules. Two top Democrats are caught in their own ethics scandals- Charlie Rangel and John Murtha.
As Michael Steel, press secretary for House Minority Leader John Boehner points out in the following quote it is much easier to spew campaign rhetoric than it is to actually govern. Obama has much experience in the former and no experience in the latter and it is showing.
We are seeing again and again the gap between Democrats’ rhetoric during campaigns and their broken promises when they gain power.
Despite high-minded promises to ‘drain the swamp’ on the campaign trail, the Democratic leadership and the new administration seem to have no problem cutting deals with senior House Democrats who continue to wallow in the ethically questionable politics of the past.”
Charlie Rangel writes the tax laws. He also doesn’t pay his taxes so he will fit right in with his soon to be new boss, Timothy Geithner. A good place to start “draining the swamp” would be here. I have written about Charlie Rangel’s tax evasion enough, but here is one more tidbit on Rangel’s corruption:
The New York Times recently reported that Rangel helped preserve a lucrative tax break for an oil-drilling company whose CEO pledged $1 million for the Rangel Center
It is time to focus on John Murtha, it appears that the noose might be tightening around his neck.
Murtha, for his part, may be part of a new federal corruption investigation. Investigators from the FBI, IRS and DCIS on Thursday raided the offices of two Pennsylvania firms, Kuchera Defense Systems and Kuchera Industries, closely linked to Murtha, as well as the homes of the brothers who run them. Bill and Ron Kuchera and their employees have donated more than $65,000 to Murtha’s reelection campaign and PACs during the last six years.
What is in it for the Kuchera brothers for their campaign donations?
The Kucheras’ companies have been awarded more than $100 million in federal earmarks, including more than $8 million in 2008.
The Kucheras brothers donate to the campaign of the man in charge of overseeing defense spending and they receive $100 million in defense contracts. Coincidence? I think not.
But it gets worse for Murtha and Mr. President.
Murtha’s troubles could touch on the nomination of William Lynn III for deputy secretary of defense, a nomination that contravenes the ethics guidelines that Obama issued on Wednesday on lobbyists
Lynn, a former undersecretary of Defense and aide to Ted Kennedy, is now a top lobbyist for Raytheon, a major defense contractor.
I thought Obama banned lobbyists?

Lynn, in fact, has ties to Kuchera Defense Systems via a $100 million missile contract awarded to Raytheon and Kuchera by the Pentagon in 2007. Raytheon’s lobbying records show that Lynn lobbied the Appropriations Committee

Even one of President biggest allies, the maverick himself, John McCain is disgruntled by the move of Obama’s waiver:
I am disappointed in President Obama’s decision to waive the ‘revolving door’ provisions of the executive order for Mr. Bill Lynn,” McCain said in a statement released by his office.
“While I applaud the president’s action to implement new, more stringent ethical rules, I had hoped he would not find it necessary to waive them so soon
There is a difference between talk and action and if this story proves anything it is that Obama can talk a good game, but when action is required he looks the other way. The Democrat party is more important that the country. Charlie Rangel and John Murtha are allowed to be corrupt because there is a “D” after their name. It doesn’t matter how corrupt they are, the swamp will not be drained.
President Obama needs to get a handle on the corruption that is festering in the Democrat party before the infection spreads all the way to the top.
The “culture of corruption” is alive and well under the Obama administration.
Two Former GITMO Detainees Appear on Al Qaeda Video
Last week President Obama made the rash and irresponsible decision to close GITMO before he even looked at the issue of what to do with the prisoners. A responsible man would have probably at least made a trip to see the military prison before making any decision on it’s future, but not the arrogant President Obama.
61 former GITMO detainees have been recaptured on the battlefield after their release and on Friday we learned that a former GITMO detainee is now a top Al Qaeda deputy leader. Said Ali al-Shihri was released from GITMO and went through the JA (Jihad Anonymous) program and still decided to take up arms against the United States proving that once a Jihadist always a Jihadist.
And now today comes this news that two former GITMO detainees appear in a new Al Qaeda video. This news has been confirmed by Pentagon spokesman Commander Jeffrey Gordon who also had the following to say:
We remain concerned about ex-Guantanamo detainees who have re-affiliated with terrorist organizations after their departure
That is a problem that President Obama probably should have thought of before his ill advised decision to just shut down GITMO. There are 245 prisoners left in GITMO, if current trends hold up that means that 24 terrorists will be released and return to fight against the United States.
President Obama may feel as though this rash action was necessary to repair what he perceives as America’s lost standing in the world and while this action may appease the far left moonbats the truth is- and you can’t handle the truth- that Col. Jessep summed it up best in the movie “A Few Good Men” when he said (with the substitution of Obama for Kaffee inserted by the author), “You fuckin’ people… you have no idea how to defend a nation. All you did was weaken a country today, Obama. That’s all you did. You put people’s lives in danger. Sweet dreams, son.”
